I don't know whether or not the piano counts as badass, but reading treble and bass clef at the same time while making your hands behave takes a level of mental flexibility that eludes me.

I think she skipped NL last time she toured Europe. That was kinda sad tbh.

The time before I only paid 30 euro/34 dollar for standing ticket.

 

Looking at the NY tickets now, they are charging +90 dollar for the concert. Wow...

Oh hello newcomers!   So exciting!  I have put a couple days attempts at the kalimba with toss a coin.  It's hard to memorize new keys on a new instrument, when old knowledge suggests different ways.   (A kalimba scale alternates right, left, right, left, right, left, omg!)

 

I will see if I can get a video of it tonight for tomorrow.

All the venues are really expensive right now with people trying to recover lost revenue from the shut down. At first I thought it was counterproductive because it would hurt ticket sales, but apparently lots of people don't have trouble paying those prices. Not me.

Got my trombone practice in today. Tried something a little more technically challenging and it didn't go terribly, but I'm going to have to be more strict with my timing if I ever play with a group again.

I've been hearing, listening to, and looking up a bunch of music, and I fear my brain and heart have gone leaps ahead of my rusty-ass skill level.     I really want to bust out the piano today, but that takes SO much work.   (Its kept under my bed, with the stand shoved in a hard to get to spot in my closet.)   The Kalimba is easy to grab, but I am being stubborn about not wanting to put stickers on the keys to know the notes.  But trying to freshen up my music reading at the same time as memorizing what keys are what on a new instrument is also frustrating.  Ugh!

In good Ranger fashion, my to-do list is long and my time is short, and 'learning to make more than just screeching sounds with an instrument of choice' is, sadly, rather far down it at the moment. I shall follow along and play my radio in solidarity, though!

Guys, I actually did bust out the piano on Tuesday.   And, with the music for Transistor (video game) downloaded and printed up, I was able to play along with Signals.    It helped that it was a slow song, in an easy key!   But I did treble and bass clef after working on it for a while.

Sooo there was some mention of sharing vids on occasion, and I took one just to get over my shyness (and to use as a later point of reference.)  It's slow, and really had to think about everything I was doing, but here's my first 'non-stop run' through Signals.

Played around on my grandma's autoharp last night which was a lot of fun. She accused me of neglecting my guitar (I have my grandpap's guitar) so I pulled it out this morning and that went much better than expected.

 

I'll see about making a trombone video this week. Meant to do it today, but I was seduced by sexy strings instead.

May I join in? I have been practicing fiddle since early last year, trying to make it a daily habit. Since I started from zero and have only done a few minutes a day, I'm still not that good. And I'm playing old-time, which might be the least badass  musical choice I could have made. 😆 But hey, music is music, right?

It certainly is! (Also I don't know enough about fiddling to comment on the badass status or lack thereof of playing old-time, but anyone who can find the right finger placement on a neck with no frets has my admiration.)

Finally have a trombone video I'm happy with. Beauty & the Beast because who doesn't like a little classic Disney and it has lots of breaks between phrases to catch my breath.

DO IIIIITTT!!!  My version starts in Eb I think (too lazy to get up and look right now) and then changes to F. But I think I have a different version floating arounfld somewhere, and a little transposition wouldn't be too hard to do.

I forget  --- is Trombone in C?  So piano part in same key as yours would match perfectly?

I'll check tonight and see what key my piano version is in.    If not, then I will see if that website has it (they probably do) and if it's cheap, I'll buy it and transpose it to Eb.     (Bah!  Making me play in Eb!  You meanie!)

Guys guys guys.  So after several practice sessions over the past two weeks, and continued work brushing off my music reading skills... I had legit muscle memory kick in as I found my old David Lanz book!  It's not super polished, but it came to me without every note being a struggle!!  I recorded it for a friend who used to love watching me play (and has been really estranged from others since covid since he works in a senior center).  Anyway, here we go.  Mistakes, and stalls and all!   (And only like 1m worth.)

Been a bit inconsistent with my trombone time, partly due to laziness, but also because of extreme cold leading to very chapped lips. Been pretty good about making it up with piano or guitar time, though. How's everyone else' barding going?

I've been tackling the piano at least 3x a week, which is once more than my goal set out for, so that's good.
The Kalimba  hasn't seen too much love though.   I should do that on the days I can't fit in a whole piano thing.

 

Still working on mostly the same stuff and wanting it to come faster, and more perfect/pretty.

Patience ... for the jedi there is time to music as well??
