Ooh... hello, everyone! So, my full-time job is actually playing the bassoon, but right now all concerts until March have been cancelled due to COVID. Soooo without the motivation of having to go to work, I need to keep practicing and making reeds every day. 

 

In addition, though, my extra goal is to get my violin out of its case once a week. I played violin as a kid and still have one, and would like to be able to play it well enough to attempt the solo Bach that I can't play on bassoon on it!

Last night, another piano song from my younger days started picking up with muscle memory again.  This is a really amazing human feature!     It's Bryan Adams "Everything I do..." and it's in freaking Db!   And it has a few spots with Fb and Cb, and a couple chords hitting a good old fashioned DOUBLE flat, and my fingers / brain were like 'oh yeah, we got this'.  It's slow and not the best, but it's recognizable!!

Very nice. Is making reeds some bassoon-y jargon (like I say I need to put air through the horn when I'm just working on getting my lips back in shape for trombone) or are you actually making your own reeds?

Muscle memory is the best! Also I think I have this song for trombone.

Hey Bards, how we doing at #Back2Music22? I'll admit I've been slacking a bit but there has been some piano tinkering. Going to bust the trombone back out this weekend.

I've not gone a whole week without music practice, so that's good!  I was not as good as I'd been on some previous weeks, and this challenge is a big sinkhole for me, but I pull the ivories out every couple days.   I'm working on Kaer Morhen from Witcher 3 and having so much fun with it.
