Chris-Tien Jinn
I am going to CrossFit this afternoon ... although the WOD includes hand stand pushups, which I am no where ready to do. I looked up scaling options and think I can manage. 1 Quote Some kind of Jedi ..... Chris-Tien Jinn
I dropped another pound this week!! The strategy has mostly been to keep moving and removal of all of the sweet treats that come with the holidays. I still have some sugar cravings, but managed to take some of the Christmas fudge and divide each square into 16 SMALL pieces. One at the end of dinner did the trick. And then NO FOOD after that point. Did CrossFit on Monday and Pickleball on Tuesday. The rest of the week has been just walking outside as much as possible. Since we got SNOW last night, we'll break out the snowshoes for a hard slog around the local golf course. Maybe. The wind has picked up, and shoveling might end up being enough of a workout today along with RingFit Adventure. 3 Quote Some kind of Jedi ..... Snow shoveling is seriously intense, so if you also do ring fit, I'd definitely agree that it counts as a workout! I hope you're not too sore tomorrow . 1 Quote Link to comment

The crew showed up before noon and got drive and sidewalks shoveled. So nice!! So, we went snow shoeing. It's fun, but I'm not sure it really makes walking in the snow much easier. I went out again in the afternoon to clear the snow and ice off of hedges so that they wouldn't break (too late for one section ....) and ended up in snow above my knees. So the snow shoes did help ... I'm just not at the Legolas level of snow travel. 3 Quote Some kind of Jedi ..... The wind chills were finally above zero (Fahrenheit), and the sky was a clear blue. We had the place to ourselves except for a pair of hawks .... who decided that we were as loud as dwarves and flew off. Did some work on pullups: 2 * 8 * 65 and 1 * 8 * 67.5 lbs lat pulldowns 2 * 8 * 20 and 1 * 8 * 25 lbs bent over rows So, gradually improving in this effort. Classes start on Monday --- so I will need discipline to go to CrossFit on Monday after class. 3 Quote Some kind of Jedi ..... Chris-Tien Jinn
Saturday, I had a great time snowshoeing around the local golf course. Chris-Tien Jinn
Well, Wednesday warmed up enough for a walk outside. Yea for Vitamin D!!! Hubby gave up his slot at pickleball on Thursday; so I had a great time laughing and sweating. Friday, I walked after my last class of the day. So, this week was not too bad, but I missed getting a checkmark for two days. I am really not good at eating vegetables. Fruit, yes. Veggies .... not so much. I am putting microgreens in my scrambled eggs and making avocado toast many mornings. 4 Quote Some kind of Jedi ..... Chris-Tien Jinn
Yesterday, I got one-shotted by the boss in RingFit Adventure. I didn't notice Drageaux was attacking until I was down. At that point, I was tired and decided to go for a walk instead. The weather has been less cold, and you're not at risk of losing body parts if not covered completely any more. But I have to admit that I am getting very tired of winter. I have some minor anxiety raising its ugly head because my car has been having difficulty in starting in the cold. It might need a new battery. That's something that is manageable. But I am not in the mood for adulting today. To everyone dealing with the monster snow out east, you have my greatest sympathy, and I hope power is restored quickly to those areas that are really struggling. Let's hope that the groundhog gives a favorable prediction on Wednesday!! 4 Quote Some kind of Jedi ..... Chris-Tien Jinn
End of January!!!! I know I said I would not obsess over weight, and that probably was a good thing. I wanted to get down to 161 ... and ended at 159.3!! Lat pulldowns also went well, and my best set was 67.5 --- well over the goal of 60 lbs. I am happy. I was picking low-hanging fruit, but it was a way to get momentum going. I didn't make it to CrossFit as frequently as I'd hoped. Exposed to COVID several times, and we finally came down with colds this past week. But I did get back into the box and the gym and pickle-ball ..... and I'll take it. Chris-Tien Jinn
With the aid of unexpected, tiny allies, I am down to 158.4 lbs. And, as above, I hit my strength training goal for the challenge. Process was pretty good this challenge!! Potions a plenty!! I drank 32+ oz of water (or herbal tea while fighting the cold) nearly every day. As a result (?), I had much less trouble with DOMS after CrossFit. Restore health and stamina: Some days, all I managed was a bunch of baby carrots for a snack, but I ate my veggies daily. The quest for more veggies even lead to experimenting with pizza loaded with veggies and a little bit of feta cheese as an alternative to our usual mozzarella-loaded pepperoni and mushroom. Hubby declared it delicious .... a super thin crust with a little pesto and pepperoni and then loaded with tomato, onion, artichoke hearts, black olives, and pepperoncini with just enough feta cheese to qualify as pizza. Skillup: I generally got in 20+ minutes of exercise, even if it was just a bunch of short walks. I did not get to CrossFit weekly since I didn't want to spread viruses, but I did get back into the box and am continuing to put it on my calendar in the hopes that I can kick this cold. Prepare for monsters!: We HAVE been cooking ahead on weekends. Not as much of the chicken and veggies idea from @spezzy that I had planned, but I did have fairly healthy lunches planned in advance so that I was not surfing the vending machines in the basement for lunches. We still are not allowed to eat in public at work ... so the cafeteria and deli are out of bounds. No food served to anyone but students. *Sigh* Somedays, it's microwaved burritos ... but it isn't cookies, at least. So, 8 pounds to go, and I'm working on a spreadsheet for interim goals on the long-term plan. Had a heart-to-heart talk with my (diabetic) carb-addicted hubby. We're going to TRY to be active after work (workouts and other active activities) and separately manage our dinners. He wants major carbs and I'm trying to be more paleo for CrossFit. I want to be able to go to the gym and not worry that I need to be home at a certain time for dinner too .... and not try to find something on TV that we both are will to watch (uff da!) every night. So, next challenge is going to see the adjustment of nightly schedules. 4 Quote Some kind of Jedi .....
