I am starting back in with a simple (but not easy) challenge: Eat Healthy For me that means just two things: 1. Limit foods on my "bad for me" list to 4 times this challenge, and only if I take a pill before eating. 2. Eat at least 4 servings of freggies a day (except for anything on my "bad for me" list). And all the tedious details: Spoiler I was diagnosed with histamine intolerance this fall. It is actually a huge relief, because we couldn't figure out why my asthma had been out of control and allergy syptoms all the time for the past year or so. But man, the list of foods high in histamine is ridiculous! Over the past couple months we have been figuring out what I can and can't eat. Foods that definitely make me sick: Food dyes Preservatives (basically anything store bought) Smoked/aged/etc meats and fish Foods that probably make me sick: tomatoes citrus fruits, bananas, strawberries, pineapple alcohol, vinegars fermented foods, yeast extract soy spinach leftover or slow-cooked meats and fish canned anything tuna, mackeral, shellfish Foods that I can eat: All other fresh/frozen fruits and veggies grains, bread dairy fresh/frozen meat, salmon, trout legumes sugar sodium benzoate - the only preservative that I do not react to Basically I can eat things that I prepare myself, fresh (no leftovers!), and completely from scratch. That is fine when I am well-organized and have tons of time. When I have to leave for work in 5 minutes and there is nothing that I can grab, not even cereal, and no store-bought food is safe, it kind of sucks. We are putting vinyl floors in our condo and yesterday we couldn't get to the kitchen and I ended up having A&W for dinner. Today I have a massive sinus headache and can't breathe.
