sarakingdom
I need a lot of mental, physical, and emotional rehab this challenge. I survived the last challenge, but it took a lot out of me, on top of a lot of pandemic whatever and previous chronic burnout stuff. Oh, also I probably have had mild bronchitis for the whole last challenge. Anyway. Like I said, the last challenge took a lot out of me. It is now somewhat less mild. With all that on my plate, clearly I need medical supervision for this challenge. What I did not get last challenge was a lot of festiveness, and I kind of need that. Just a little. I did Christmas and all, just... festiveness. That's about right. I need me some of that. 5 1 Quote I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever. sarakingdom
I'm having trouble designing this challenge, because I'm in a position where I have a lot to design from scratch. All my normal structures are gone, I have Big Life Decisions to consider and make, and this is an opportunity, but it is also not a "just three things" sort of challenge. I do, however, have three foundational habits I think will impact the rest: Rest. I need more sleep, for one. I had reached some very good sleeping practices temporarily there. I can do it again. But also, rest in general. I need to pay attention to my rest needs. Exercise. Not necessarily loads of it, but I need more mobility work for starters, to keep all the moving parts going, and at least a light baseline of aerobic exercise and strength to keep the brain and body well-tuned. Meditation. Brain rest. My brain is worn out, it overworks itself and rests too little. It gets out of balance so easily, and struggles to have any energy reserves. This is an attempt to reverse that. My sleep deficit is just over 24 hours, which is an improvement over the 40 hours of ten days ago. My aerobic baseline exists, but my mobility needs work, although that too is an improvement over a few weeks ago. (Still watching those achilles tendons.) Meditation, I've been dabbling with, but need to do some more. But I need more structure to put this into. My early packing odyssey did have a useful daily schedule, which I was looking forward to using for better things. I might gamify ìt. And on the other hand, I am a fragile flower who is having trouble facing a challenge just yet. The seriously inadequate rest levels probably have something to do with this. I teeter between optimism and despair at quite a rate these days. You know, maybe I should get my medical supervisor on speed dial, and-- --oh. Well, perhaps I'll start with rest. I took Saturday as a sick day, and that worked out fairly well. More rest. 8 Quote I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever. Mistr
You have a lot of accumulated fatigue and stress to recover from. Plus you have jet lag and travel. It makes sense that you need a rest and recover challenge. Considering how hard you were working to pack, I am glad you are giving yourself credit for all the self-care activities. Washing, eating, resting, all good. If you can, let your brain regrow before making Big Life Decisions™. Maybe a touch more lately, that I'm not fully credited for. It's not enough. I had my sleep so good for a while. I was over 7 hours a night, it was glorious! 12 hours ago, Mistr said: You have a lot of accumulated fatigue and stress to recover from. Plus you have jet lag and travel. It makes sense that you need a rest and recover challenge. I really do. I had another challenge lined up, and just couldn't do it. No part of me was ready for it. I wish I knew better how to shake it. I guess I'll just keep plugging away at the sleep and hydration, and figure out what doesn't make my stomach revolt these days (an unexpected new twist), and drug my bronchitis into submission. And also just keep getting Something Useful done each day, and training myself not to triage self-care for time. 12 hours ago, Mistr said: Since Dr. McCoy does not make house calls, perhaps you could get another doctor to step in.
