Jupiter
Hey, nerds, here for the new challenge. The last few years have been pretty awful, so I want to try to do something a little different this year, something that’s a little more fun and that will hopefully keep me motivated. I’m going to try to be more like my favorite superheroes. I love superheroes and they're awesome, so why not try to incorporate them into my daily life, right? Of course, this may not hold up in daily life, but we’ll see how it goes. Anyway, for this challenge, it’s going to be mostly about the prep work. Goals: Move Like Black Widow Black Widow has amazing fighting capabilities. Besides her martial prowess, she has great strength, endurance, and flexibility. In order to be like Black Widow, I will need to work on these things as well. For now, this will involve some strength training, yoga, and beat saber. I’ll try to do each twice a week for between 15 and 30 minutes, but we’ll see how it goes. - Strength training 2x’s a week - Yoga 2x’s a week - Beat Saber 2x’s a week Practice My Craft Like Scarlet Witch Scarlet Witch has incredible powers and abilities. Like any witch, she is learning and practicing to get better at her craft. I will be doing the same with my own (writing) craft. I have a book bible to finish writing up and then an outline to restructure, so my main focus will be those two things. I also want to read more fiction this year, and learn new things, which means reading more non-fiction and taking some online classes. Because a good (writing) witch is a knowledgeable witch. - Read 30 minutes to an hour a day - Writing prep 1 hour a day - Gain new knowledge 1 hour a week Cook Like Green Arrow Green Arrow is one of the best cooks in the Arrowverse. He is just as good with a knife in the kitchen as he is with a bow and arrow in a fight. This is what I will be working on too (minus the bow and arrow), starting with some prep work for the kitchen. I did this for a prior challenge, and I’m bringing it back to get me started again. - Pick a recipe in advance - Get the ingredients - Cook a meal 1x a week Stay Connected like Black Canary Black Canary has many awesome qualities (especially in the Arrowverse), but the best part was in the network she created for herself and others like her. So, my goal for this category is to stay connected. That means posting at least a few times a week here as well as responding to others’ posts, doing social things with friends, and continuing to train my fur baby (who's birthday is this month, she's now 14!) and spend more time with her. - Post on the forums once a day/respond to at least 2 other posts - Social things 1x a week - Dog training 15 minutes a day I think that’s it for now. Hopefully it’s not too much and I’ll be able to keep it going. Anyway, I’ve got a new BuJo all set up and ready to go. Let’s do this. 7 4 Quote New Battle Log, Old Battle Log, Current Challenge 2022 Challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, Challenge 3, Challenge 4 2021 Challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, Challenge 3, Challenge 4, Challenge 5, Challenge 6 2020 Challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, Challenge 3, Challenge 4, Challenge 5, Challenge 6, Challenge 7 Link to comment

The Arrowverse is basically the umbrella term for all the DC shows playing on TV right now (Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, etc, they are all in the same world). They call it the Arrowverse because Arrow was first. 17 hours ago, Harriet said: I love how all these superheroes have a colour. I guess you can't just be canary. Or widow. Artemis Prime
I loved Arrow when it started, but then I got a bit overwhelmed with all the other dc shows and ended up not watching any of them. Definitely need to get back to Arrow at least. 2 Quote "For God did not give us a spirit of fear; but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline". - 2 Timothy 1:7 "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us." -Gandalf Link to comment

You should definitely give Arrow another go, it's great. Jupiter
Okay, so first check in of the challenge, going to make this one quick today because I'm exhausted: Move Like Black Widow - Strength training 2x’s a week - Yoga 2x’s a week - Beat Saber 2x’s a week - Done. Only did about 10 minutes, but I'll take it. Practice My Craft Like Scarlet Witch - Read 30 minutes to an hour a day - Still planning to do tonight. I've stopped reading The Trouble with Witches. I like the theme of the book but nothing really happens and it was just meh. I've moved on to Shades of Treason by Sandy Williams. Finally managed to find another good space opera. - Writing prep 1 hour a day - Done. Not quite an hour, but close. Got two character sketches done. - Gain new knowledge 1 hour a week Cook Like Green Arrow - Pick a recipe in advance - Done. - Get the ingredients - Done. - Cook a meal 1x a week - Done. Ideally, cooking will happen on the weekends, but it didn't quite work out that way this weekend. I did pick out a recipe and got the ingredients over the weekend, though, and then cooked today: chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy. I was going to make corn too, but my old can opener died and I was too lazy to open up the new one. Stay Connected like Black Canary - Post on the forums once a day/respond to at least 2 other posts - Done. - Social things 1x a week - Dog training 15 minutes a day - Sort of done. Only did about 5 minutes, but I'm counting it. Couldn't really get her to focus today, which is understandable since I haven't done it in a few days. All things considered, not a bad first day. 5 1 Quote New Battle Log, Old Battle Log, Current Challenge 2022 Challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, Challenge 3, Challenge 4 2021 Challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, Challenge 3, Challenge 4, Challenge 5, Challenge 6 2020 Challenges: Challenge 1, Challenge 2, Challenge 3, Challenge 4, Challenge 5, Challenge 6, Challenge 7 Link to comment

Jupiter
Really tired right now, so another quick check in today: Move Like Black Widow - Strength training 2x’s a week - Yoga 2x’s a week - Beat Saber 2x’s a week - Done. Another 10 minutes. I almost didn't do it at all because I was so tired today, but I managed to limp my way through a few Expert level songs. Practice My Craft Like Scarlet Witch - Read 30 minutes to an hour a day - Done yesterday and today. (I actually stayed up a little too late last night reading, which is part of why I'm so tired today. Oops.) I'm loving this book so far. Williams is such an underrated author. @Waanie, you might like this book. It's Shades of Treason by Sandy Williams. - Writing prep 1 hour a day - Done. Again, not quite an hour, more like 40 minutes. Still, finished another 2 character sketches. - Gain new knowledge 1 hour a week Cook Like Green Arrow - Pick a recipe in advance - Get the ingredients - Cook a meal 1x a week Stay Connected like Black Canary - Post on the forums once a day/respond to at least 2 other posts - Done. I did all the forum-ing today. - Social things 1x a week - Dog training 15 minutes a day - Nope. I had planned on it, and I tried, but as soon as I finished beat saber and sat down, my legs were like, nope, we're not moving from this spot. That's what I get for sitting down. Anyway, that's all I've got for tonight. This is the best chicken recipe I’ve found for juicy breasts. https://www.spendwithpennies.com/oven-baked-chicken-breasts/ I used to think you had to cook at 350 forever but yah that chicken was so dry and a real chore to eat. I find with this recipe the smaller ones are done 20-22min and bigger ones are closer to 25-28mins. You can use a meat mallet to even out the chicken breasts but I never do because I hate cleaning it lol. if the smaller one finishes before the others I just take it out. And don’t skip the rest stage with meat ☺️ I make a little tin foil tent and wait 5 mins. This is the base recipe I use for all my chicken baking needs lol. 3 Quote {Chase the wind and touch the sky; I will fly} Link to comment

They have good days and bad days, and they are very sensitive to moods and emotions in general. I once read somewhere that when training a dog it's important to remember that feelings travel down the leash, so if I'm stressed and angry, the dog notices and will reflect that. (As I recall from my childhood, the reins of a horse are also effective emotion conductors.) 3 Quote The Great Reading Thread of 2023 “I've always believed that failure is non-existent.
