Hail!

 

I haven't been active on this board since September 2017,. Better late than never, right? ^_^ but those weekly challenges really made a difference, and I'm finally refocusing on myself - seemed as good a time to come back to the den and reconnect. So Haii.

 

Respawn Loading - Nina-Rose - Assassin/Ranger/Monk Cross - Joined NFA June 2016, fell off Forum September 2017

Historically worked on skills including: bouldering, unicycling, jugging while unicycling, gymnastics, bodyweight workouts, pull-ups, karate (GKR), poi, and staff spinning. 

Currently Playing: Witcher 3, but I’m early game so not familiar with aspects to name this challenge after…

Thanks. This is less about general boundary-setting and more about undoing 7 years of my self-esteem being squashed and feeling I am responsible for his wellbeing and ensuring his needs are met while mine are not.

Thank you - it's the format I used in 2017 and I found it had the right level of story/game and my specific goals, so fingers crossed.

Week 0, Day 2:

 

Had a crying heart-to-heart with the ex who still thinks I'm going to come back to him. Felt I stuck to my convictions more than I have previously. Counting some stretches and push ups as movement, and did not eat healthily, but I feel okay about that. Emotionally hard days can be physically lighter, IMO.  
I'm reading the last scene I edited on my fiction work in progress and have added a few words before planning the next scene's edits :)

Week 0, Day 4

 

Took ex to lunch for his birthday, and he put his arm around my waist as we waited for our table and I froze the hell up and said nothing. Trying to be kind to myself and unpack that after 15 years together. Adding up the vegetables though, I hit my 5-a-day.

Trying to remember the last 3 days - I hit my 5-a-day and I've read chapter 9 of Codependent No More. I think I might miss my workout goal which feels both 'fine' and disappointing. 

In my head, I felt 25/30 was acceptable and yet I end this week with 24... Not sure how to really think about that.

I would say 24/30 is a great Zero Week and you're setting yourself up for a great challenge!

Sometimes, workout goals are like that. Your body will still react to what workouts have been done, and if you're getting rest signals, that's a sign that your body's trying to adapt. It may be wiser to honor it for now so you can train harder later, and if it becomes a consistent issue, then you may have hit a limit of some kind and you could tweak the goals to reflect that until that limit adjusts.

Week 1, Day 1:

Week Zero was a good baseline, but I reviewed my progress and recognised some issues with how ticking a task off once meant I didn’t have any motivation to do more, despite wanting to encourage recurrent action. Had roast dinner today so hit my 5 fruit/veggies goal.

Week 1, Day 6:

I’m tired. I’m struggling with my mental health.

It’s Friday. The new Pokemon game comes out today. I met my 5-a-day yesterday and did my daily movement of some squats while I brushed my teeth.  I’m very behind on my tasks, but tomorrow I may manage to bump a couple of those single-use tasks up to completed 😃

I forgot there's a week between these 5 week challenges so i made some goals on FEB 6th. This is my trial I guess.

 

So, I did a couple of things this week for the last challenge but I can’t be bothered to make sense of it all now. I learned I need a very clear numeric goal for my words to actually make the level of progress I want in my fiction, and I need to expect less of myself at the moment.

 

Foundational Health

-Avoid unhealthy food choices (sweets/chocolate) for a whole day (1).

-Eat 5 fruit/veggies at least 2 days. (2)

-Intermittent Fast 15 hours. (7)

 

Strength Building

-Daily Movement / Stretching / Yoga (7)

 

Scholarly Tasks

-Read ‘Codependent No More’ (2)

-Complete a CNM chapter journal prompt (2)

-Attend my GUGY coaching call (2)

-Complete the GUGY journal prompt (1)

-Write fiction (350 words / 2)

-Write nonfiction article (2)

-Listen to ‘We Can Do Hard Things’ podcast weekly (2)

 

Total XP: /30 per week

 

And as it's Feb 9th now, I can confirm the following stats so far:

Hey, as strange or back-handed as it might sound, I'm all about lowering expectations. Life, in my observation, isn't really about any one thing, and a bunch of very little changes can have pretty profound impacts, particularly if carried out over a long enough period of time. That's basically the kind of habit/life change we try to encourage around here, I think. Maybe.

Ending my Trial week before the next challenge with some more information.

Which tells me I need to recommit to food and movement, and not expect too many self-development items (which I will prioritise over exercise, which is interesting).

I did walk 8,800 steps on Tuesday on a team day at work, and did an extra walk on Friday in my lunch break, which brought my total for the week to 20,560... Not great but the week before I only managed 11,000 so it's an improvement.
