So i've been stupidly tired, due to the extra lack of sleep and that intense week i've had with Jaap being sick. I've been grumpy and weepy and gloomy. Just writing that down here because i don't want to pretend everything is all good.

I did however get some really nice training sessions in.

So sorry about the sleeplessness and gloom! But I love the barbell C&J! Very awesome.

*hugs* I hope you didn't have any damage due to the storms!

I love your rainbow-coloured abacus for keeping count of your reps during the snatches, it is low-tech, easy and looks nice as well :).

Also, can we change bedrooms? Mine is far too humid if I don't ventilate enough. It is also dusty, although our new dust-filter seems to help and makes the air easier to breath.

It's ok to not be ok, especially after a long, frustrating week. Glad you shared though, it's so easy to just write down the accomplishments without the tough times behind them. I hope you have a chance to rest and get better sleep soon. *hugs*

Yes! I saw that too! What a good use for that old IKEA abacus my kids never play with anymore... 🤔

Oh KBGirl! *hugs* It's okay to not be okay. You're powering through hard mode right now and that is draining.

I really hope that you get much needed rest and recovery time. ❤️ And that Jaap feels better soon too!

PS. I am loving all of your videos. They are so inspiring. I feel like I'm learning a lot about kettlebells. :)

Very very minor yard damage, it's fine :) you?

I ventilate my bedroom for at least an hour every day, it really helps.. and I should vacuum every other day or so- i dont, but when i have it always helps.

Thanks! We've been discussing a bit of a sleep-vacation for me, Jaap taking care of the kids for a week or so while i sleep in a different room.. it's really smart and sounds nice but i'm also hesitant because.. i want to be there for my kids you know? it's a silly thought, they will have Jaap. But still. I'd miss them.

This reminds me to get an ikea abacus for at home.. my 5yo is doing sums with lego blocks at the moment, hehe.. an abacus would probably be more convenient and also help figure out tables and such.

Haven't been doing my evening routine and fell right back in to that silly cycle of being so tired that i don't go to bed on time.. x)

I'll do better tomorrow, promise. And i'll go to bed after typing this.

Monday was a rest day, did some laundry, did not do all the things i wanted to. Tuesday I did front squats but not much else, too tired. Did not make dinner, we had eggs instead. Wednesday was my birthday (34th) and I was blessed with a really sunny day. Jaap and I went on a 2 hour walk during our (extended) lunch break, without kids. We hadn't done that in a long time, it was nice. People at the gym got me gifts, evening classes were quite nice. Today is my mom's 60th birthday, we went to a museum in the morning, they had an exposition on wolves, it was nice. Then we had cake and dinner. So, bit low on exercise this week, but also low on sleep, so that makes sense. Things keeping me up at night are just the many things i have to do for the gym and for volunteer work that i just can't find the concentration (or the motivation) for and the mess, all the things i want to do but don't have the energy for. The irony...

So tomorrow- more squats in the morning and kettlebell class in the evening and then i'll do my evening routine and go to bed at a sensible time. And i'll stomp on one frog, just the one, to make me feel better and to make it easier to go to sleep.

I'm avoiding the news and I feel vaguely guilty about that but also smart.

Happy birthday! And how sweet that you were born so close to your mother's birthday! My niece was born the exact same day as her mother, my sister in law. I wonder if the mother gets as many presents as the daughter. Probably not.

No guilt. We need to know about things when we have the power to change them. Not sure we need all the details of things that are outside our influence.

Happy birthday!

Re. avoiding the news, I feel you, but I like to think about it more in terms of... information intake vs. what I can output. Taking in information about the world that helps you act in positive ways upon it is good. Taking in information in a way (and.... I think Being On The Internet is often that) that would prevent you from acting in positive ways is not good. So it sounds like you are managing your time, energy, and information well!

Not sure how you're situated, but since we moved into our shiny new eco-friendly WTW/Heatpump home the air has been dry as a bone.

If you think humidity (or rather the lack of it) is a thing, you may want to start measuring.

At some point I measured a humidity of 36% - dry eyes, itchy skin, dead plants.

Last week I installed a central humidifier in our ventilation system and we're doing a solid 50% now everywhere.

Unfortunately it consumes 2 to 3 kw a day 😆

Getting a simpler unit just for the bedroom may be just enough to get you through the night!
Could also be dull air - but don't rule out carbon dioxide as well! That one goes up so frickingly fast that it scares me sometimes - and NOBODY knows!

I'm so happy that they are finally starting to meter this in classrooms!!
If you want to know it all; Netatmo has some pretty awesome devices to get the info.

How many kids do you have? what ages?

Really I am sooooo looking forward to better weather. Spring can not arrive soon enough! Right now it's just rain rain rain rain though. Ugh. I'd even prefer a proper surprise winter over this.

Haha, noooo. I think I'm spot on average with 1m80.
I have two boys. They are 12 and 6. When you have either of them alone they can be really sweet.

When you put them together, anything is possible. From nice playing together to complete fireworks haha

Gotta love them though 💙

Thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone :)

Things got away from me a bit after that, I am very far behind on lots of things- to stick with my frog analogy, they are breeding faster than I am stomping. Part of that is because of simple hiding/procrastinating/being too busy in general- but thankfully part of that is also because the weather turned around and we've been spending lots more time outdoors and in our new garden. I'll share some photos later. The sunshine has been good for me. The abundance of frogs not so much.

Anyway, I felt like being here and updating, but I don't feel like doing a proper update other than this, so that's all.

Did you guys see the Brandon Sanderson kickstarter? It's.. wow.

*bwahahahahahahahaha* <laughs in Coloradan> Omg. 35% is the highest setpoint I can put our house humidifier on during the winter and NOT get condensation on the windows. Super warm AND super cold February days routinely clock in sub-10%.

Also.....Happy Birthday belatedly @KB :)

I have now stumbled across Brandon Sanderson in two threads on here this week. I haven't read much fantasy in a long long time. I've stayed mostly in the realm of cyberpunk and sci-fi when I'm in a reading mood. BUT owning a tablet reader has got me reading more at night so..... time to download some new stuff. What should I start with?

Warbreaker is free on his website and is a good (mostly) stand alone (it's loosely connected to The Stormlight Archive) :)https://www.brandonsanderson.com/warbreaker-introduction/

The first Mistborn era is also a good entry for new Sanderson readers. If I remember correctly, Sanderson himself has said that he doesn't recommend The Stormlight Archive for new-to-him readers because it's better to have some trust in him first as an author. He tends to slowly pull various pieces together until it pays off in a huge finale, and The Stormlight Archive has a lot of the pulling-things-together bit just by virtue of its size and number of points of view. That said, if huge epic fantasies are your thing, starting with that series should also be fine. As a disclaimer, 4/10 books in the series are published, and there are going to be five books in the first arc.

If you'd like a lighter read, I also really like his YA Skyward series.
