Weight Loss PVP: 10 or 12 lbs in 10 or 12 Weeks! [March 27-June 11]

Recommended Posts

With @Rurik Harrgath being under the weather, we will try to do him justice here! Anyone looking for the last PVP challenge spreadsheet it's behind the tab linked below.

Welcome to the SPRING HAS SPRUNG (or Fall has Fallen depending on your part of the globe) edition of...

The 10/12lbs in 10/12 weeks weight-loss Player-versus-Player challenge!

In discussion during previous PVPs, we came to the conclusion that folks should have the guilt-free option of taking it easy during Week Zeros to refeed, rest and recharge if they so wish, hence the 12/10lbs in 12/10 weeks in the title.  I want you to set goals that you think are realistic (that could even be 6lbs/12weeks or whatever works for you) and stick around for the accountability and camaraderie rather than opting out, beating yourself up, or quitting partway through!

So now's the time to sign-up for a Player-versus-Player accountability challenge sure to motivate you to tackle those weight loss goals!  Of course we only advocate losing healthy weight and using healthy methods to get there, this playful side quest is less about beating your peers to the finish line than it is about challenging yourself, making some new accountibilibuddies, and having a place to share your battle plan or struggles along the way.

The Rules

  1. Sign-up using the SPREADSHEET.  Add your name & starting weight, waist measurements optional.  10 or 12 lbs in 10 or 12 weeks (roughly 1lb or 0.5kg per week)  is the goal but feel free to increase or decrease the difficulty as you see fit.  Whatever your goals are, you are most welcome to participate (even if you'd like to join in late)!

  2. Introduce yourself to your fellow competitors!  Feel free to mention your goals, any battle plans for getting there, and what your primary motivation or inspirations are.  Feel free to mention your Challenge goals or BattleLog too!  This is an excellent place to get to know others from the forums.

  3. Update the SPREADSHEET with your weekly weigh-ins.  We're using Monday as the 'official' day, but if Sunday, Tuesday, or any other day work better, go nuts!  Just keep it at roughly a week for tracking purposes.  This challenge is aligned with the current and next 5 Week Challenges, with optional weeks off for Zero Week at the start and in between.  You're also welcome to hop in at any time!

  4. Have fun, encourage everyone, and keep each other accountable!

Get hype but stay safe!  Also, did I mention the SPREADSHEET?

Tips for Success!

  1. Make with the exercise (maybe the cardio zoomies, maybe the heavy uppy-downies or the flippy-dippies?)

  2. Do-do the (calorie) deficit.

  3. Gobble up the veggies.

  4. Gulp down the waters.

  5. Visit and update us (and the SPREADSHEET) regularly to build that accountability network.

  6. Share your workout playlist for MAXIMUM HYPE!!

This is just what I need.   I managed to lose 10 pounds of Covid weight last year, but got stuck with another 12-15 still to go, and that's to just get me back to where I was March of 2020.   I'm still figuring out my battle plans, and looking forward to stealing ideas from any source, and adapting them to my own circumstances.  Whatcha got?

Count me in again!  My goal is 10 pounds for this round.   My tactics are the same:

  • stick to a calorie target at a deficit most of the time so that my average calories are at or below that target over the course of the 10 weeks
  • move almost daily, achieving at least a 2400 calorie burn most days, and get in about 4 workouts a week.  My workouts are mostly walking and light DB or BW workouts at home.  I am looking to start increasing that intensity again but no idea what it will look like yet.

A disappointing beginning weigh in.  I'm up 1.5 from the week before.  It was definitely a bumpy week.  There was pizza multiple nights and I'm recovered from Covid but I'm struggling with my intensity level in workouts and overall energy still.

I signed up - look at me being early for once! I might quit NF Prime next month, so this is more incentive to go hard AF for this next challenge. Bring on the Euro training!

WELL. Shocking weigh-ins these past couple of days...I'm now 2.6 pounds away from my ultimate goal weight (the ultimate goal weight I've had for the past like five years) - the day before yesterday I was 0.8 pounds away...

...

...you know what, it's fine. I might gain it all overnight (again) so I'm just going to adjust my "10" to a lower number. Can't let my guard down just yet.

I'm using my trailing average (like you can see in the post above) keeps me sane and it takes out the fluctuations. Downside, i am not as low as my scales tell me. Upside, being heavier than the day before does not mean that all is lost and i can give up. Just keep an eye on the red average line, as long as that is not trending up things are fine.

I'm a few days behind, but I've been shooting for a pound a week anyway, so I'm joining! I'm currently trying to increase my exercise, but really my main weight-loss plan is CICO, especially because I tend to eat my workout calories if I get them. I'm using the LoseIt app, which I love so far...I really like that it automatically adjusts your goals if you lose weight, if you reach your target, and even for weekdays vs weekend.

Aiyah, I have been having issues logging in all week. I finally switched to a different browser and that seems to have resolved the problems thank goodness.

I went down a couple oz this Monday so I am at least moving in the right direction! I have been dealing with some minor health issues this week that have made exercise hard at times, but I have kept up my water intake and have managed to get at least 30 minutes or more exercise a day. I was surprised but happy to find I found myself thinking of this thread and the accountability in it while judging food decisions this week so that is great.

We did Easter egg hunting yesterday! Our favorite tradition is confetti eggs. After we found all of them we lined up in the driveway and smacked em with a badminton racket 😝 My husband surprised me with my own Easter basket with treats in it that were keto approved. Who needs a chocolate bunny when you've got a Coke Zero and Slim Jims hahaha.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Did anyone get April Fooled yesterday? (My sister pretended she sliced her hand open, and got me real good with all the red food coloring. That twerp.)

Starting weight 242.0

Week 1: 240.4 (down 1.6)

I'll take it even though it feels more like I'm just bouncing around the same place and merely maintaining.  But my initial weigh in was higher than expected due to a rough week so this indicates a bit of recovery.  That's good.  I did some analysis of my Fitbit numbers over the weekend.  My calorie burn has been lower than usual since I recovered from Covid and I couldn't explain it.   But as it turns out even though I felt like my steps were in line with pre-Covid they are in fact down on average from the weeks before.  I need to focus on increasing steps/activity and keeping my calories under target to compensate.

If my goal were maintenance I'd be set. I am the same weight and measurement as last week. Kind of frustrated.  Last week, I tried to be more accurate with my tracking, by making sure I tracked  everything. I ended up  having more calories each day. This week I'm going to try for the accuracy and to be closer to 1,600

Hey that sounds like fun! And who doesn't love Coke Zero and Slim Jims! Sounds like a fun time though!

Glad you were able to get to the bottom of the issue. I hope your bout of COVID wasn't too bad! I think with this latest variant of the variant we will all be exposed to it soon, if we haven't had it yet. Nice work being down 1.6 though!

I hear this! I was the same weight five weeks in a row. It took a bad stomach issue for me to lose weight but I guess we need to take progress where we can get it ha. Good luck with your tracking this week!
