I did EXCELLENT work from home today, got a bunch of stuff done that needed doing. Have a bunch more to do tomorrow, but then should have a good brain break over the weekend. Considering taking Monday off to have a long weekend, especially since two peeps on the project team are out with covid currently so I doubt they’ll be knocking anything out in a hurry.

 

Zero week Thursday ~ I worked, in the evening played some Cyberpunk Red (ttrpg not video game), playing a nomad with a Texas drawl who drives a badass combi van.

Swim prep: Mondays swim carries me through this week ~
 

Gym it: not feeling too many DOMS from yesterday, have a sesh planned for tomorrow for squatzzzz

 

Mental toning: big effort in working through the ick from not going in, plus being proud of myself for standing up for my mental health- did some further introspection and I think it is mostly fear of public transit, more than the office space itself. As such I have decided I will pay for the staff parking permit and continue to use MoMo instead of the bus.

Yuppers, I could feel my anxiety rising as I was getting into “office clothes”, thinking about the bus in. Glad I made the call early enough to not push myself into meltdown. Ah, growth.

Fri/Sat/Sun of zero week: likely not going to be on much these 3 days, as we are back in our high school town to help Mx's mum clean out their nans storage unit. Internet is trying, but really not amaze. It’s a bit old school, almost no ubereats, limited things ‘to do’, small city vibes. Will aim to not go off the rails, but am also not going to dedicate energy to trying to track food etc over these days.

Unfortunately caught the ‘vid on the weekend. All bets are off as we enact plague protocols. I slept 20 hours yesterday. Planning the same for today.

Slept on and off Tuesday-Fri, would wake up and watch the start of something then take a nap, have a little sip of water or juice and a Panadol then a snooze 😂 My boss is very decent and told me to move anything that can be moved to next week, give him anything that couldn’t be moved and toss anything unnecessary, which I did. Guilt-free resting, I must have been reeeeeeally sick 😕

 

Fri started to feel a tiny bit better so managed an hour or two out of bed sitting at the table reading a book, nap, washed some dishes (seated! Thanks BestLady for that tip haha, no way I could have stood for 15min), took another nap, made some carrot soup then back to bed early. So much sleeping but grateful that seems to be my main symptom: exhaustion. A little bit of a sore throat on the first day, a tiny cough, dumb-dumb brain and SO tired. I’m a go-go-goer, so to have spent 4 days sleeping is pretty wild. Determined not to overdo things as I start to feel better.
 

Today spent 9-3 sitting up at the table reading/watching YouTube, ate some soup and toast, managed to walk down the stairs to drop off the kitchen compost caddy and give it a halfarse turn with the corkscrew, scared off the pesky neighbour by croaking ‘stay back’ at him, took an afternoon nap, now watching pirates of the Caribbean (my comfort trilogy) until I’m ready to sleep some more.

 

Official quarantine for us ends tomorrow, I’ll drive us to the testing place for another test to make sure Mx can go back to TAFE/work. Barely any symptoms for them, a little sniffle/a bit tired, guessing their more recent booster gave an extra level of protection. I’m grateful.

Monday, April 4th

Tired, but feeling much much better today. Managed almost a full day of work(ing from home), with only one half hour lie down at lunch and a half hour early mark. Had a LOT of emails (215!!!) but heaps of them were system notifications/FYIs and the such so I was able to finish out the day at ~50. Had a few meetings and though my brain was mushy at times I felt mostly able to get my point across. In the evening Mx and I had our couples counseling/coaching, off to a slow start but we both were bawling and had covered some good ground by the end. Unpicking a lot of assumptions and feelings and funk. Hoping it scrapes off the gunk and gets us stronger. Need to see some action, added homework item.

Swim prep: Today is the first day out of iso, will see if I’m up for a swim later this week.
 

Gym it: have booked another week of rest from PT, given that walking to the backyard and back to eat my lunch in the sun had me shaking I am not ready to hurl iron just yet.

 

Mental toning: BIG steps in therapy. Took a very hot shower for self care afterwards.

 

Therapy homework: have 2 family meetings per week (2 topics).

Tuesday 5th April. Was able to work (from home) the full day today and hung a load of laundry. I didn’t have the energy to bring it back in, so hoping that it will be nice weather again tomorrow. Tomorrow is also choir, I will see if I feel well enough to go, I want to, and I also do not want to pass on any germs at all- I will double check the recommendations, because I think it said 7days iso + 3days masked and avoid high risk locations, singing inside definitely seems like it would be high risk and if I still have any germs I don’t want to risk it. That’s tomorrow Taash’s problem though, I will look and see.

 

Eat with intention: had some carrot and cumin soup for lunch which was lovely, and some fresh fruit for snacks, need to get veggies back as a snack priority but we are transitioning to autumn so some of the easy go-tos (peas/beans/cucumbers) are starting to go out of season. A good reason to try something new, and to keep the soups coming!

Mental toning: went through a lot of photos clearing out duplicates to free up some phone space, interesting that now in photos I can see that I was much thinner than I saw in the mirror. Curious and not quite sure how to address that.

 

Therapy homework: initial meeting was going to be tonight, but after yesterday’s heavy session and both not feeling 100% well we decided to reschedule for later this week.

Raw carrots and celery are my go to for raw veg snacks (I should get back on those actually...). Are carrots coming into season for you now?

Carrots always seem to be in season, and I love them as a snack!

 

Thanks, glad to be much better but shocked by how dumb it’s made me! The brain fog is reeeeeal and I can see the gap between my normal ‘firing on all cylinders’ and my current treading water. Apparently the fog can last up to 6 weeks, hoping that will not be my experience.
