Epsilonte respawns upside down

Recommended Posts

Hello friends!

I'm Epsilonte and I like to stand on my hands. Sometimes. I want to spend more time on my hands. :D So that is what this challenge will be all about.

Two challenges ago I started doing regular handstands and really noticed a difference. :) Last challenge I took a break from challenging because life was busy. Well, life will continue to be busy, but I miss having a thread. So a mini-challenge it will be. :)

Coincidentally the time frame of this challenge is the same as the remainder of my theoretical studies (so  5 plus one weeks of "going to school" and studying for exams. After that, with the start of next challenge, a year of practice/internships/however you call it in english starts. Wheeeeee. xD). It's fate. :D

So my one and only goal this challenge will be: do a few handstands every day. That's it. :)

I have a handstandable wall now (we rearranged the living room, sooo much more space with the couch facing a different direction!!), so it shouldn't be too hard, right? (Famous last words... xD).

Might even start doing a few belly-to-wall handstands or conditioning exercises with my big fitness ball. Who knows. Not me. xD

My current handstand level is: using a wall, kicking up, sometimes floating for a few seconds while looking like a banana. An upside down banana.

It's nice to be back. ❤️

(as usual I'll surely talk about pole/bellydancing stuff, gym, work, school, maybe a little food as well. :) )

The Upside Down!

Following along!

Welcome, friend. ❤️ Great to have you here. :)

I'm starting the challenge strong with 2 pole classes that both involved handstands and a few non pole handstands afterwards. Floating - and kicking up without having to use the wall - both feel a lot better and more stable already. ❤️ Soon I won't be needing the wall anymore, now that I finally have one... xD

I also had a super grippy pole day today, it was nice. Weather is finally warm enough for me to stick without the use of 3 different grip aids... xD I need to use it while it lasts before it gets so warm that I'm slippery again. Ah, poledance and stickyness, it's a fine line between too cold (dry skin) and too hot (sweat. :D Pole is sooo sexy. xD)

(Rest of the day was spent working and studying, as I have yet another exam tomorrow... I will celebrate afterwards with some handstands and more pole. :P :D )

I have a goal of a freestanding handstand as well. I've found that doing a bunch of work against the wall is great, but you _have_ to also do some freestanding kick ups as well every session. I was doing only wall and had really plateaued... once I started trying to kick up out in the open it really helped.

Good luck!

I knooooow but I'm a little chicken afraid of falling. xD I do have enough space now though for also trying freestanding stuff. And it's getting warm enough to go outside in the nice and soft grass...

But first: getting over my belly-to-wall-fear. :D

Thanky for the tipps :) And good luck with your handstands as well!! :D

Another great day. :) Got up, did some last minute studying because my exam was in the afternoon (hate those, I never know what to do with the morning so today I just glossed over everything again.). Exam went well. :) After that I had about an hour to eat and chill (can't eat before an exam, another reason why I prefer them in the morning xD) before pole classes. Pole was super fun again, and I finished the day with my handstands in the studio. :)

Right now most of my handstands roughly look like this. Can't wait to see them in 5 weeks. :D

Tomorrow will be interesting for the challenge, my only time window for doing handstands is around lunch time, not my usual time for this. :) Hope I'll come around to do a few, it only takes a few minutes, should be doable. :) Really want to start working with the ball tomorrow. :D Or Saturday.

Well, it looks like the first few times you should delibaretly kick up too high and bail to get over your fear!

I knoooow but it's scary. :D I even know that I can bail (I practiced it and I can do cartwheels just fine), I'm just still scared of it. But I'll try, hopefully outside where it's nice and squishy. :)

Thank you!

Pad it up! You probably won't even need it but having squishy things around you might make you feel safer. 🙂

Thank you!

Good to see you! ❤️ How are you? Wanna join me upside down? :)

Good idea! I'll try, though I suspect I do better with as little stuff around as possible (things slide on the floor... Yoga mats could be an idea though... :D )

Yesterday was quite the day. :)

Worked in the morning, went to school in the afternoon and in the evening I had a very nice work party. We ate a lot, drank a lot, danced a lot, it was awesome. Also really nice to see all my collegaues again, as I'm usually in home office because I have such few and weird hours. So I had a great evening (and horrible night, I was sooooo hot because I've been drinking for the first time in ages, but they had Moscow Mules and I love those. xD).

Still got my handstands in around lunch time. :D Even tried using the ball and it was great, it's a really awesome core exercise this way. I'll try to make a video some day. :)

Today so far: I tried to sleep, got up around 10am, managed to make (fake) coffee and shower and drag myself to dance class - chair dance, Peaky Blinders themed. It was awesome and helped to cure my hangover. xD No handstands so far, but there are still afew hours today, so we will see what happens. xD I really want to do some, but I also really want to vacuum the floor before doing handstand and I'm not ready for that kind of noise yet. xD

The rest of the weekend will be spent studying, next exam is coming up on Tuesday...

Not gonna lie, looking at your videos makes me quite tempted! :D

Whatever you need to boost your confidence. :)

What are you doing with the ball? I can think of scissor lifts up into a handstand and sliding into a press position...

Pretty much that. More sliding/rolling than lifting right now though,  I'mnot strong yet enough to lift. :D

So, weekend recap. xD

Saturday was - apart from a bit of chair dancing - spent doing basically nothing. Too hungover. xD Needed the break. And I really fell into watching this stupid series on youtube, called Dance Academy, it's for Teenagers, plays in Australia, it's about a girl living her dream as a ballet dancer... xD It's a bit cheesy, but so cute and I bingewatched half of season one just yesterday evening... Makes me think about how my life could have looked like if I was a bit more like Tara and a bit less like Kat as a 13 year old (I used to do ballett as a kid from ages 6 to 13, but stopped when puberty hit and dance became boring. xD Sometimes I regret it, but I'm really glad I found pole as a grown up 11 years later :) )

Anyway, no handstands, didn't want to get upside down because of my head hurting. xD I did nap in the afternoon, that helped, sleep is really awesome. :D

Sunday: Got up, studied, cleaned the flat, did a few ball-handstands. I try to aim for sets of 10, but can't quite get them yet.

Actually you just need a few² cm of clean floor. No need to clean ALL the floor... :D

Waanie is right.  :D

Ok, clearly my mission is to clean up the handstand space. :D I can do that.

I love Dance Academy! :D But I'm a sucker for cheesy dance movies, they're the best! It does get surprisingly intense though.

You mean tuck handstand or something else? Holds against the wall, or jumps?

Me too! Do you know any good ones? :D

I made a quick video just now, I mean this: Link (featuring one of the kitties xD)

Next step: hold them longer (don't do them so quick), then: get farther away from the wall - makes it a lot harder without the head on the wall (I tried just now while filming). After that (so: after I can comfortably do 10 away from the wall) - take one leg off, then the other, some day both? xD

I can really feel those in my core, love it. Also: on Friday I was dead after 7 of them, today 9 were quite doable, yay progress! ^^

The episodes are less than 25 minutes each... very easily watchable. (if you can stop after one, that is. :D :D
