Alanna's simple sleep challenge

I'm still very much recovering from (finally!) buying and moving into our own house this past challenge, so keeping this simple and focusing on the priority right now: SLEEP.

Towards that end:

Goal 1: Stop working by 6 pm (so my mind has time to turn off before bed)

Goal 2: Start getting ready for bed by 11 pm. I will also try to gradually wind this deadline back towards 10 pm.

Goal 3: No phone use in bed at night, with the except of kindle/setting an alarm.

I want to add back regular workouts soon too, but between packing/moving/cleaning/unpacking/DIY, I'm still recovering from and doing a lot of extra physical activity. We'll see how the next few weeks go. For this challenge at least, I'll aim to get a good workout space set up.

Today I'm finally starting to feel like I'm recovering. The sleep related goals are probably helping a lot with that (although staying up until almost 1 am reading Royal Assassin probably didn't...).

 

I didn't really wrap up my last challenge since I ended up abandoning my goals, but I do want to note that my think-about-pull-up-bars goal actually did pay off. Thanks to those reflections, I figured out what type of pull up bar I wanted (straight bar with large - preferably 90 cm - clearance from the wall) and a couple of weeks ago, I found that exact type of bar for sale used for less than a quarter of its normal price. Now I have a monster of a pull up bar sitting in our garage! I think I know where it is going to go - just need to do a bit more research and get the tools/equipment to hang it.

Maybe, maybe not! Sometimes a good read is exactly what's needed to switch off and relax. :) Either way yay! That's a lot of cats, glad it's helping!

So, very belated catch up: I'm not sure what the day to day recaps were, so no cats for this post, but it went something like

 

Week 2: 6/7, 6/7 and 5/7. I started looking up how to compost late one night because the house came with a tumbling composter 😅.

 

Week 3: Started off rough with late nights due to a work deadline, but finished fairly strong - I think it was something like 5/7, 4/7, and 4/7 in the end.

 

I will try to post my cats and owls this week!

The Meowls are adorable! Thank you for sharing! 

Pretty solid weeks, plus a tumbling composter sounds awesome! I keep thinking I want to start composting now that we aren't in a PMQ...

I'm really looking forward to gardening more, and we were lucky that we inherited a lot of the gardening supplies to get us started! I think the compost that was in the composter is almost ready to go, too. 

 

I am going to have to ask you what PMQ stands for, as in the UK the google search result is "Prime Minister's Questions" (and, despite the current PM sharing some qualities with manure, I don't think that that PMQ is related to composting 😅).

Back to cats:

 

Week 4, Sunday

We're starting to settle in to the new house. The living room is almost ready to be painted, which also meant somewhat organising and tidying our "dining room" (aka reading/exercise/plant room) so our couch can temporarily live there. That, in turn, means that I will have lots of floor space once the couch returns to its rightful place 😁. I've also given away some things that were taking up space in our garage, which will help make room for our new pull up bar.

 

Let's see if I can start winding back my getting-ready-for-bed time this week.
