fearless: trial run

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Ive had a drastic change in my life and have left my political work. in the next 3 weeks I want to use this mini challenge to heal mentally and do things that make me feel good. Since Ive signed up for a 5k run in September its time to see if there is a way for me to get back into running after dozens of injuries, I will use the 3 weeks until the end of the challenge to see whether thats possible.

goals:

  • jog/walk intervals for 30-40 minutes 3 times a week in addition to hikes and dog walks
  • on non "running" days -  do weight training( bodyweight and kettlebells) or stretch/foam roll/yoga. Sunday is rest day
  • keep eating  keto and have healthy food, even though my kitchen is still not finished and I cant use it
  • do one  fun thing every day ( like today I will put my citrus plants into new, bigger pots)

I might also be able to reduce my "drugs" during this challenge: have a break from alcohol, reduce smoking and reduce sleep medication. Ive really overdone it lately and this needs to be adressed.

Today I woke up happy and content, had yoghurt with berries and coffee, got invited to hike at the river at 1pm and in the afternoon I will put my citrus plants in their new, bigger pots. Im looking forward to the day and have slept well so I feel rested. All is well. :)

hike was wonderful. then lunch and a call with a good friend. Now having music on and planting my citrus ( orange, lemon and clementine).

look how nice they look. I just need to drill some holes into the pots tomorrow. The plants need holes in the pot, otherwise there will be mold I think.

now some foam rolling and then a nice free evening. :)

good morning you heroes! ❤️

Today I have planned to do a dog walk with friend at 1pm

after that I will vacuum my place and put up a little exercise-corner in my living room with yoga mat and weights. (The corner is usually in my other room but I have all the kitchen furniture in it right now until it goes back into the kitchen after the renovation.)

I will do some strength training in the afternoon too.

plus I need to rip out little plants in the cracks of my terrace.

right now Im a bit worried because Im waiting for money to arrive and dont have any money left. So I hope its in my account today. Need to buy food.

my neighbor K, who has a slipped disc and has problems to finish my kitchen renovation has told me he will set up my dishwasher today so I dont have to wash my dishes in the bathroom anymore. Thats great news.

cant weigh myself today because my scale needs batteries and I dont have money to buy them ...

sippping coffee and watching the birds in my garden. Lovely!

will check in later :)

As a thought, this sounds like quite a bit of volume if you're just starting to get back into running after injuries (for example, the couch to 5k running plan only has you doing 20 minutes of jog/walk intervals, 3x per week, for the first few weeks). If it feels good then go for it, but also don't be afraid to back off if you need to. You're better off with a distance you can sustain 3x per week from now until your run in September, than pushing hard and not being able to do every run every week.

It's an exciting challenge though, and I'm sure you'll smash it.

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

8am

Im tired still. ;)

will walk with dog to computer repair shop now and then pick it up around 1 pm. then I will use the way there to do my jogging bits.  the walk back home will be cool down.

will use my brand-new Bose headphones (cordless) which I got as a present!

ordered running shoes yesterday night and followed a recommendation (online test) for heavy runners. the shoes are under a 100 Euro ( 96,-) and when I looked at them this morning they were already more expensive.

Its cool and a bit rainy outside and will stay like that for at least a week.

will check back in after I get the Laptop back.

got my laptop back and am very happy with the cleaned version of it! :)

on the way to the shop I put on some hiphop and jogged a few times. Could feel a litte pain in my knee and in my achilles but I was very careful and didnt stress. Felt really nice. Must say though that the dog child was rather surprised by my tempo... hehe

5k walked with some slow jogging.

now I will just chill and enjoy the free day plus will do some light stretching in my new exercise corner.

7 hours of sleep is not enough for me. Im really tired ;)

Sweet! Heaphones and sneakers! Now you're all geared up to run. I think new shoes is a good idea. They seem to get compacted after a few years of use.

I watched to the beginning of the Q&A; that was really cool! It makes total sense to me to see Keto as an off label treatment for psychiatric issues exactly because of the overlap with epilepsy. I know two of my three meds for my Bipolar have anti-convulsant properties. I did ten months keto while my husband was overseas on tour. I felt really good while I was doing it, but I didn't go off my meds regardless of reading that keto could potentially help with the Bipolar. I was too afraid of losing it while Dave wasn't home to take the chance. I've fought too hard to find the right meds to give them up on a whim no matter how good the research looks. But from the sounds of what he was saying, the keto definitely wasn't hurting anything! So there's that.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing!

I woke up late after having watched Netflix until early morning. Still, I slept very well and am rested and motivated. Thinking about what project to start next and considering a second book. I could do 1000 words of summer or NaNoWriMo to be in a motivational group.

Today I get the parcel with my new running shoes. It should arrive in a few moments. YAY

Also YAY for losing a bit more weight! Im not doing strict keto but eating very low carb.

Todays tasks:

journal and get more clear about new project

try out running shoes and decide whether to keep them

teach English student at 3

go food shopping

stretching and strength training

have a brilliant day you heroes! ❤️
