RES: CUTE isn't cutting it!

For those who are new or behind, my main goal is weight loss, for health reasons as well as I want to look good naked, and fit in clothes I used to. I love 5Ks and kettlebells, I'm struggling with this goal because it doesn't get easier when you get older.


I work from home, (3 jobs) as an accountant, so making sure I have enough movement in my day as well as not eating "all the unhealthy things" is important. It's very easy to lose track of how much time I've been sitting trying to solve an issue. Not having "all the unhealthy things" in the house also helps.  I struggle to get enough sleep so that shall remain on the list until it's no longer a struggle

 

My last 5k (on the 6/5) was a real wake up call. I've let a lot of things go since the pandemic, I could barely move for three days after doing it, I was not trained for it and in retrospect I probably shouldn't have done it.  I've decided the best way to motivate myself is monetarily...it worked last time when I hired a trainer, so I've decided to do that again, through an app this time that will write a program based on the equipment I have. I have four days of weights/bodyweight workouts, and I'm making my step goal a priority again. I'm also going to start tracking for the month that I paid for the trainer for, at the end of four weeks I'll see where we're at and if it's worth the expense to keep going, I'm feeling pretty sure it will be if I stick to it. Checking in to hold myself accountable is key to this being successful, I don't want to have to post bad news here. I plan on posting a lot more (like daily) to make sure I'm on track where I need to be
 
The Plan...making a few more changes
Weights - Four Three workouts from my trainer a week
Update - Post in thread three times a week. - self explanatory
Track - Sleep (7 hours a night) and  Food (Just track) - sleep is important, going back to MFP since it gives a better accounting of if I'm eating in deficit or not.

Steps - Hitting my 7500 steps a day goal, minimum
Extra - Rides, 5k's, events, and life events go here - because fun makes life worth living
Done - 🌈
Not Done - ❄️

 

Extra is staying in because it's those little things, and I love sharing the fun D and I have with all of you :D

No lie, I seriously considered using WUTs for a challenge title acronym...couldn't make myself do it though...

The nice, or not, thing about a virtual trainer, is they're not standing over you telling you what to do, the program is in the app and you're honor bound to do it (or mark it as skipped) this may or may not be a good thing, I managed to do 90% of todays, planks did not happen, I discovered I have the ability to change exercises, if I had known that this morning I would have changed it to dead bugs instead!

Update - Done

Tracking: Sleep - Done (on a weekday, be still my heart!) Food - Done, under calories

Steps - On track to complete by EOD

I like your plan of using a trainer for a month. That is enough time to see how it fits in your life and if it is working for you. Being able to scale exercises is important. It is frustrating if they are too hard and boring if they are too easy.

That was my big concern with using a virtual/app trainer, not being able to scale. So far doesn't seem to be an issue. 

I liked the fact that when you sign up they give you a 4 week training plan that works towards you goal, of course you can only access one week at a time :lol: but that was my thinking as well, it's a good test to see if it's going to work and be worth paying for!

Today was tough, good thing I had planned Tuesday as my 'non workout' day because for some reason I was so tired, I had an ear ache and sore throat and just felt like crap...took an allergy pill and some Aleve and felt much better, but was still very tired. 

Almost convinced myself to not workout today, told myself to do one set and I could quit, ended up doing them all (except inchworms, those suck!)

Tracking: Sleep - another weekday 😮 this could become a habit (that I went to bed at 9pm might have helped)

                      Food - On track today so far, but we're going to Pride night at the Gwinnett Stripers ballpark (because I apparently miss baseball...) so am going to try not to go over too badly

Steps - not so far, but who knows how many steps I'll get in this evening :lol: 

 

Yes, D and I are going to the triple A team for the Braves on a Thirsty Thursday/Pride night...because I was sad about missing Pride night with the team I work for (because it was also on a Thursday, but that's a long drive!)

Next weekend when we're down there I get to go see them though :D

It's how I deal with most workouts.  1 set and if I'm not feeling it, I'll stop.  But after a set....I'm already there so I mine as well do another 2 sets, until I end up doing an actual workout I had no intention of doing.  Brain hijacking ftw.

Extra - Went for a ride last Sunday, went to Pride night at the Gwinnett Stripers stadium on Thursday. Was pretty disappointed in the turnout and just the overall vibe of the place...it was clean and a nice facility, but there was no one there on a thirsty Thursday, and it's a college town! They contract out their concessions and that makes for people that just don't care, for example, they were out of pretzels in the top of the first inning 😮 everything was already made and sitting in the windows when you ordered it, I'm used to it being cooked on site and having to wait a bit to get it...will be glad to go to Jax ballpark next weekend!

So obviously my focus needs to be on hitting my step goal, food, and sleep...making some changes to the menu this week that will give me more protein with fewer calories, it's a process...Sleep, need to focus on getting to bed on time (which is 9pm apparently).  Steps may not happen until this heat wave passes, or I could get on the treadmill, honestly I was so wiped out with the new workout plan this week that it just wasn't going to happen, next week should be better.
