Shello Posted July 14, 2022 Author Report Share Posted July 14, 2022 Wednesday Packing the cooler: I ate all the food yesterday. We had a food day at work. There was breakfast pizza and donuts so needless to say fasting didn't happen. I had a little of the sausage breakfast pizza and a little of the bacon. Then a chocolate iced yeast donut with sprinkles. I brought my lunch not knowing what food would be available for food day but as it turned out I didn't need anything that I packed. For lunch I had a couple of BBQ meatballs, some honey BBQ potato chips, a few crackers with some cream cheese and pineapple habanero pepper jelly. I followed that up with some crackers with cheese and salami and a couple of the cookies I brought in. I was definitely full but that didn't stop me from grabbing a mini banana bread loaf too. Later in the day I had some mixed berries with a fruit dip made from cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla. DDG and I still had plans with his family in the evening. I brought the pie. It wasn't set very well and was very soupy. I imagine that's because it was frozen fruit rather than fresh. His sister had prepared taco fixings with shredded chicken and some ground beef so naturally I had one of each. And a piece of pie. I didn't log any food because 1) there was just too much of it and 2) I didn't want to bother trying to guess how much or how many of anything. I am just taking it as a FAIL. Fill the Tank: It was a busy night and a planned rest day. Calorie burn was just a little low but my Fitbit died and spent some time on the charger. I'm assuming I hit the minimum for daily movement. Packing (decluttering): Nothing again but received notice in the mail that the neighborhood HOA is having a dumpster weekend this weekend. That got me thinking of what big stuff I can get rid of so I'm expecting a productive weekend. Scrapbooking (creative work). I caved and ended up logging everything from memory this morning and it wasn't all that bad. I'm struggling to log food and think I just need a break from it. On the one hand other than certain social gatherings I'm not really eating poorly and feel like maybe some intuitive eating would be the break I need. Especially since I've already planned next challenge and logging food is pretty crucial to the goals. On the other hand, today I have snacked entirely too much and gives me pause that loosening on logging might not be the right direction. I'm just going to wing it for the last week of the challenge and enjoy a break. I'll log if I feel I need to. Thursday I had the usual lunch but then realized there were leftovers from food day. I grabbed a small piece of breakfast pizza and 4 crackers with salami and cheese. I ended up saving those for an afternoon snack as I was pretty satisfied after my usual lunch. I did eat that leftover food in place of a healthy banana for an afternoon snack but at least there was some trade off. It was Qbert's birthday so I planned to make a fancy dinner. I thought I had a rack of loin chops, with the bones in, and I was going to make an herb crusted loin chop. But once it thawed it was pork loin roast. I still used the same recipe. It was good but not as fancy as I wanted. Qbert was pleased though. I salted and peppered the roast and then smothered it in dijon mustard. The recipe called for stone ground mustard. I thought I had some but I didn't. And I like dijon mustard better anyway. While it roasted in the oven I prepared the crust by adding a crap ton of butter to my ninja, the rest of the container of crushed garlic, the rest of the fresh parsley, some almonds, and then instead of 3 cups of bread crumbs I dumped in the small bits from the pita chip bag because they were too small to dip in hummus anyway and then dumped in the last of the panko crumbs. I blended that and let it sit until the roast came out. Then I coated it with the whatever that stuff was and put it back in for 10 minutes. Then it rested and we sliced it. I made boxed mashed potatoes because we fancy but also lazy and then heated a tin of green beans. Dessert was birthday cake. His choice was angel food cake with a whipped topping. I bought the angel food cake because I don't have time for that nonsense but then I sliced it into 3 layers and made a whipped icing with heavy cream and cream cheese. He loved it. Fill the Tank: Another busy night so no time for a walk. That was expected. Calorie burn was a little shy but I was indeed active all night. Although we did sit down and watch Captain America. It was the next movie in the Cape Order. I had only seen it the first time so I noticed a lot more connections I didn't realize the first time around. Shello Posted July 19, 2022 Author Report Share Posted July 19, 2022 Update Packing the cooler: Friday was pizza night but we had a lot of things we wanted to get done over weekend so as we were planning Friday evening we decided to get some the shopping done and since we'd be out we'd stop for food. We picked another new pizza place and ate there. We went to a place called Topper's and expectedly they have creative toppings. We ordered a pepperoni, bacon, tater tots, and cheese curds pizza. We basically just picked all our favorite foods. It was interesting for sure. But another reason they go by the name Topper's is evidently they put any effort into the bottom of their pizza. The crust and sauce were both meh at best. Excellent cheese garlic sticks though. Saturday I fasted while DDG and I worked outside. It eventually caught up with me and I needed to take a break for food. I had a peanut butter banana maple waffle sandwich and it was so good! After we finished with the yard work and cleaning out the garage I spent the afternoon with Peach. We got pedicures and then when baby shopping for my brother's upcoming baby shower. I accidentally spent so much money on baby clothes I had to apply for a card credit card to get the 35% off. For dinner DDG and I had tickets to see the Maverick TopGun movie so we ate at the theatre. I had the Wisconsin Burger again. Sunday I was thinking about making that waffle sandwich again but when I asked DDG what he was up for he suggested we finish off the Topper's pizza leftovers so we did that instead. Dinner was reheated pork roast. I don't usually care for pork reheated. It was definitely dryer but it actually tasted a bit better. We had mashed potatoes and green beans with it. I organized a huge picnic for our whole office (150 people - although only 50 showed up) so lunch was hot dogs, chips, and whatever sides and desserts everyone brought. I brought mexican street corn casserole and had some of that, and then I had my share of desserts. It was a hot and humid day and doing all the prep and set up in the heat wrecked me for the day. I barely worked in the afternoon. I spent the evening on the couch and DDG threw in a frozen pizza for dinner. Fill the Tank: Walks have been very irregular. I'm not going to hit the goal for miles for this challenge but there has been other fitnessing. I spent Saturday morning cleaning out the garage and purging items since there were huge dumpsters in the neighborhood for the weekend. After clearing some space and rearranging I was able to get some of DDGs stuff properly stored. The whole morning definitely counted as a workout. Sunday we did go for a walk. It wasn't ridiculously hot, but it was humid. We ended up going midday and it was a hard walk. DDG kept asking if I wanted to bail and he'd come pick me up. I persevered but then ended up battling a migraine later in the day. I medicated and took a nap after my shower and that helped some. Monday I was completely wrecked after the picnic but I'm totally counting the set up as a workout. There were multiple trips from the car to the park carrying heavy things and then putting them down again. Packing (decluttering): 13 things were purged from the garage over the weekend, some of those were actually piles of things or categories of things. I have a tendency to save bits and pieces of wood thinking they'll come in handy for future project but then for a new project I go buy exactly what I need. I posted 3 things to Facebook, a mystery tent, a 6 person tent, and a birdcage. They were all picked up within the hour. Scrapbooking (creative work). Doing some painting was on my list for the weekend but it was entirely too busy as it was so this didn't happen. I did listen to some more videos at work on Friday (I watched some of it too. We have a local pizza place and they have really great ingredients, but then they don't bake their pizza the whole way, so you've got raw dough! We've finished baking it a few times ourselves before giving up and using the pizzeria 20 minutes away. Why is a Pizza Place a Pizzeria and not a Pizzaria? 13 things removed! BOOM. I am acting like a child and have no adult reasonable regulation. There are tasty treats all around me and I'll grab some more even when I no longer feel anything near hunger. I will definitely be starting to log food again by Monday when I start the next challenge but I also still kind of want a break. Or possibly I know I will be logging food Monday so my brain is trying to get everything it can now thinking we will be restricting, even though I don't really restrict food when I log. I eat what I want but in appropriate amounts. But it's a holdover from years of bad food patterns. Yesterday I knew I'd have a late lunch because of meetings. There were cookies leftover from the picnic so why not start the day with a couple of thise? Then naturally there were leftover hot dogs too so why not eat free food? I had 2 and a small bag of chips, then some Reese's for good measure. But then another hot dog sounded like a good idea. They're free, and I don't usually eat them. Then the mini cupcakes that hadn't appealed to me all day or the day before suddenly seemed like a great idea so I grabbed a few of those. Dinner was at least sensible and we reheated the last of the pork roast, potatoes, and green beans. There were more Reese's too but not much. I also had a late night snack with some leftover whipped frosting and some berries. Fill the Tank: We did get out for a walk and a got a 5k walking around the lake. I thought it would be unbearable hot but it was rather pleasant. Packing (decluttering): Nothing new here Scrapbooking (creative work). Shello Posted July 25, 2022 Author Report Share Posted July 25, 2022 Challenge Update This challenge wasn't much of a success. I hit some goals but overall don't feel any closer to the end result. I haven't done an official weigh in but I'm up about a pound or so and fitness hasn't really improved. Packing the cooler: Technically this goal was a win. We ate through tons of food in the freezer. But the unstated aspect of the goal was to continue to eat within my calorie budget. I took an expected break from logging food during vacation and then just couldn't get back into it ending up going off the rails. But the freezer is almost empty. Fill the Tank: We walked 26 miles. The goal was 35. But I took a week off when I wasn't feeling well and skipped a walk or two due to a migraine. I did get plenty of extra walking in on vacation and some extra non-walking fitnessing. Packing (decluttering): I didn't devote much time to this but did purge 16 items in one day. Scrapbooking (creative work).
