Chesire turns thirty.

First of all, when I joined the forums and started challenges I never considered what it would be like to turn 30-challenges old.  It seems like so many and like it went by so fast!  But of course we all learned time has no meaning over the last few years.

What will the goals for this one?  I don't know.  I'm at a loss for telling myself stories this time around.  I guess stick with the basics until one comes to mind.   Back to earning points

Standard points list:

                  Su   M   T   W  Th  F  Sa

3️⃣pt       4 times for 12 pt wkly

2️⃣pt       for 8 pt

1️⃣pt       for 4 pt

1️⃣pt       for 4 pt

To earn those points.

Major thing for 3 pt;  fitness.  continue with DB Hero's Journey and running (forgot about Zombies, run!)

second thing for 2 pt;  stretch and/or foam roll

minor thing for 1 pt; avoid alcohol  (will be telling my housemates aka parents aka kind people letting us live here while we sell our house) and probably have tea as a non-water option

minor thing for 1 pt; do something productive.  Very vague but can be anything that isn't internetting, ie sewing, crochet, cleaning, cooking, reading, tech training

no-point but important thing;  check in regularly with rebels.  (And this falls perfectly in line with the Mr.Willes mini challenge, though my gif game is no where as developed)

Things I need to do:

reschedule a dr appt since I'll be away at tech training that week.

check out the Happify app (through our health benefits) see if its 👍 or 👎

find a book for betterment/edification (suggestions of all kinds welcome)

update my battle log

We are not sinners trespassing in the garden of an angry God.

We are prodigals come home; fully seen and deeply loved.

Put together enough small wins over a long enough period of time,

and you’ll find yourself in high level gear fighting dragons before you know it.

Following. I like your points approach... it's not overwhelming, but might be motivating. Do you get something with your points at the end?

Books. I just learned about the Book Adventure Challenge, have you been over there? Lots of good ideas :) What kind of betterment/edification are we talking about here?

"Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man. You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is, is we're here on Earth to fart around. And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around. And, we're not supposed to dance at all anymore." -Kurt Vonnegut.

So...  I like grades and measurable success.  Dork :)   But more importantly, this gives me a specific way to say yep, I put in actual effort because I have the points to prove it, A+, or not.  I did set up my 'grading scale' so that I never fail.  Low point earning is a sign to check in with myself and my world.

There are so many awesome groups here!  I didn't know about that one.  Which does remind me, I forgot about the Artificer's hall.  I should share some progress I've made on a crochet project.

I don't really know at the moment.  I'll get back to you 📕

I made use of a nearby playground for my exercise yesterday.  Almost chickened out when there was a grandfather and two grandkids there.  I told myself they probably don't care in the slightest what I was doing as long as I didn't prevent the kids from playing.  That is how I ended up with a 5yo boy almost in my face as I was doing pull ups on the monkey bars asking what I was doing and telling my how strong he is  LOL  I stuck with it by telling myself I was setting a good example to the kids as the boy kept checking in on me :) Whatever it takes to do what I need to do!

Did you give any thought to what kind of betterment/edification you're looking for?

Nope.  🤣  In part because I'm going to double down on learning sewing machine repair.  Actually, just sitting here thinking of stuff I remembered a book recommended to me.  Condensed Chaos.  Gonna go see if I can find a library copy.  Also want to see if I can find The Witches Book to Self-care (I think that was one you were reading at some point?)

Condensed Chaos sure has some mixed reviews. That always makes me curious. I may put this on my list just to satisfy my curiosity, but not until I finish Buckland's. What are you looking for in Condensed Chaos? Have you read any others on the topic?

Yes! The Witches Book of  Self Care by Arin Murphy-Hiscock. It's very basic, but has some practices that give you specific steps to complete which sometimes can be the difference between doing it or not. I'm using this book to kick off creating my own little Self Care Journal Tool Kit to write down the things I want to practice. I love the grounding exercise in here. I also made the prayer beads, but I haven't been drawn to using them much. I think I was just in a craft mood at the time.

mostly this is a curiosity thing for me too.  And I don't know what I'm looking for beyond a differnet point of view

Today is the day to get the last of our stuff out of the house.  We have a contract and hope to close the sale mid-July.  And then we can really start looking for a new home!  This time the plan is to find a home, not just a house.

So, how about a little look at how this weeks point earning went.

the goal is 4 times per week each

                Su   M   T   W  Th  F  Sa

3️⃣pt     12 pt -fitness

2️⃣pt       6 pt -stretch

1️⃣pt       3 pt -avoid alcohol

1️⃣pt       4 pt- anything produtive

25/28 pt for the week.  Nice.

I made the call that loading and unloading a van full of mattresses and furniture counts as fitness, because of course it does even if it wasn't part of the plan.  MrC is pretty darn happy that my strength work has paid off enough that we could do all this without 'strong friend' help.

Time to get my butt out the door for an early dog walk so that I can then go for a run before rain moves in for most of the day.  Seriously, it's not the always the tasks to be done that are exhausting, it's the endless planning to make them happen.

At some point, you'll start getting phone calls from folks saying "Hey, I need a strong friend."

Check you out! I also love how you present this so nice and clean. I may have to steal this a little.

So strong! :)

Lake vacation imminent.  I will vaguely try to do something to continue Hero's Journey, but if i don't, so be it.  there will be no productivity, just fun relaxing things.  Nutrition concerns are put aside in favor of morning chip snacks while I make breakfast.  Some stretching should happen since we still have to walk the dog around the island (New Hampshire trails are good solid walks)
