RhiaWolfe Returns (Zelda Memes Wanted)

Heylo everyone! 

 

I'm going to catch everyone up here on how my journey has been. I've been on and off the forums for several years now. Back in January 2022 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. That was enough of a BIG WHY to motivate me beyond anything else. I immediately changed my diet and started living a healthier life. As of April 2022 my diabetes is in remission. 

 

In March, I joined NF Coaching to try and help me improve upon what I was already doing including staying on track after I reversed my diabetes. It was really helpful to have a place to list my goals and track my food and everything. It was very convenient and the coach was able to help answer questions and give me praise when I was doing good (that is something I thrive on). 

 

Well, due to inflation and the rise in gas prices, I can't afford to keep doing the Coaching program. Maybe one day I'll go back. I've got one more week with my coach. So, instead, I'm coming back here. I hope this will help serve the function that the NF Coaching app did. So I'm back!

Stay the Course: My overall goal this challenge is to not regress when I lose my access to coaching. I'm going to post my current goals and what I'm currently doing and just try to continue that before I try and level up.

Ok, so, Thursdays are my weigh-in days. Last weekend I went on a short vacation and didn't eat the most healthy. I gained 1 lb this week. Not too concerned since this is the first time I've gained any weight since January. Going to buckle down on healthy eating again though. 

 

Challenge Updates: 

 

Make Good Choices! 

I will eat mostly healthy meals and keep indulgent meals down to 3 or less each week. 

Yesterday I ate: 

  • Breakfast: 3 fried eggs & an apple
  • Morning Snack: A balanced Breaks Sargento pack (cheese, cashews, and craisins)
  • Lunch: A chicken & rice taco salad from Ted's Cafe. Did not eat the outer shell and only had two chips with a little queso.
  • Afternoon Snack: 1/2 box of pocky
  • Dinner: pan fried tilapia, green beans, brown rice
  • After Dinner:  A cookie and a little bit of Nerds Candy leftover from my trip

So, while I didn't have an indulgent meal, I did have candy. This morning I went ahead and threw the rest of the pocky away so I wouldn't eat any more of it. I will be throwing away the box of Nerds candy that I got over the weekend so I won't be tempted. I only have one cookie left in the pack that I bought last week. I'm going to throw that cookie away tonight so I don't eat it. 

 

Time to get serious.

I took a 15 minute walk on my morning break yesterday morning. It was really hot outside, so I walked laps in the shop at my work. 

 

Extra Exercise!

I will play Ring Fit on my Switch 2x per week. 

 

I did not play Ring Fit last night. I spent the evening crocheting. I made a cute little bi-pride heart. I hung it from my rearview mirror.

I've been really proud of myself! I've lost probably 50 lbs by now. At my heaviest I was 314lbs... so I guess that's just about 50 lbs now. Last weekend I had a mini-vacation and there weren't a lot of low calorie healthy options, but I tried to get as much fruit and veggies as I could. I think I still did pretty good. However, now I'm back to having sugar cravings. Time to get those under control.

So, right now my primary focus is getting my eating back on track. If I don't get in the walk or ringfit, I'm ok with that for now. Food is my biggest problem when it comes to my health. Right after my vacation, I want to make sure I get back to where I was. I have been making progress on that front, so I'm happy with it right now. 

 

After work I went to the chiropractor for an adjustment. Then I went home and made dinner. After dinner my husband wanted to chit chat for a bit. I'm pretty much his only source of socializing. Even though I wasn't really in a talkative mood, I went ahead and hung out with him for a bit. Then I watched some youtube before heading to bed. Chill evening overall. Since I work long hours (7:00-5:00 Monday through Friday) I don't have a lot of free time in the evenings. 

 

Also, I've started logging food in my MFP again to see how that goes. Sometimes tracking calories makes me a little obsessed and neurotic about it, but we'll see. If it becomes unhealthy, I'll stop.

  • Snack: Mini Kind Bar
  • Lunch: Grilled Shrimp soft taco from Fuzzy's tacos 
  • Snack: Candy from 5 Below
  • Dinner: pan fried tilapia, brown rice, green beans
  • Snack: 1 rollo candy

I did awesome with my meals! My snacks, not so much. I think I'm still improving a bit. Today I'm going to minimize the amount of sweets I have. I bought an apple this morning to have a snack later instead of candy.

Didn't take a 15 minute walk. I was really tired yesterday for some reason and couldn't get myself to get up and walk.

Resetting a sweet tooth can be tricky, but there are lot of ways to go about it and I'm always more satisfied with my sweets when my sweet tooth is more balanced and I'm not craving it. Apple sounds like a good plan!

Well... a coworker brought in some gourmet cookies... I did only have one... but I still had one. It was sooooooo tasty though. No regrets. I wasn't sure how to track those calories though so I chose a "cookie" on MFP that was higher in calories. My plan is to eat healthy the rest of the day. 

 

I didn't use to have such a sweet tooth. I'm not sure why it's bugging me so much right now. Next week will be easier because I'll have groceries and will do my meal prep.

This was a cookie that had pieces of an oreo baked into it... OMG it was so good...

Time for a weekend update! I had an awesome weekend! Friday was horrible. I won't talk politics, but let's just say that politics made me extremely depressed on Friday and my husband had to calm me down when I got home from work. Shortly after my melt down I had to go spend the night with my grandmother. My Grandmother is almost 90 years old. She's got a lot of health issues and my dad and his wife have been taking care of her. He asked if I could stay with her for Friday so he and my step mom could have some time together. I was happy to help. So I spent the night with her and we actually had a good time visiting. 

 

Saturday I woke up and took care of my grandmother until my dad arrived. After that I went home, got lunch for my husband and me, and took a short nap. That afternoon I went to a TTRPG game and had a lot of fun doing that. After that I went to a party where I saw a lot of friends I hadn't seen in a while. I really needed that. 

 

Sunday I took my dad out to lunch. I then got a pedicure. After I went home, chilled for a bit, then made dinner/meal prep. 

 

After dinner, I went and played Skyrim for a couple of hours before bed. 

 

I really needed a good, fun weekend. I didn't get a lot of errands or chores done, but I feel a lot more rested and happier than I did last week and ready to take on this week!

  • Snack: Gourmet cookie a coworker brought in
  • Lunch: Grilled chicken sandwich and potato soup
  • Dinner: stromboli, garlic bread, ranch dressing
  • Snack: gummy bears

Saturday: 

  • Breakfast: Scrambled eggs, toast, banana
  • Lunch: gyoza, hibachi steak and veggies with steamed rice
  • Dinner: Schlotzky's turkey bacon club, bag of sour cream and onion chips
  • Snacks: small package of fruit snacks & a piece of cake

Sunday:

  • Breakfast: Banana
  • Lunch: grilled shrimp, steamed vegetables, salad, & dinner roll
  • Dinner: healthy chicken & pasta casserole 
  • Snack: popcorn & a cookie

 

So, not horrible over the weekend. Definitely one of my indulgent meals on Friday night. Overall I tried to make good choices over the weekend, so I'm calling this a win! Today starts a new week. Let's go!

Glad you had such a good weekend! I would say this is one of those cases where results matter, in which case feeling rested and happy means you made good choices, even if they may not have lined up perfectly with your to-do list.

I'm struggling today. TW: Depression, current events

I'm so tired. I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster. I had a great time at my commencement two weeks ago, then as soon as I got back I got word that my grandmother had been neglected at the nursing home she was at. She's getting better now, but then the news about Roe v. Wade hit and I got super depressed. Then I had a great weekend with friends and family. Now I'm back at work and we're having trouble with our Accounting Department not paying our bills so our vendors are putting us on credit hold. So people are coming to me for me to try and figure out what is going on. 

 

I am super upset and depressed about what is going on in current events. I'm not going to argue with anyone about politics, but let's just say that I feel so helpless and don't see a lot of hope for the future here in a America. If I could move, I would. Many of my friends and family feel the same. It's all that's on anyone's mind right now. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm sad, angry, and scared and am not sure how to deal with these emotions right now. I want to crawl in a corner and forget the world exists right now. 

 

Right now I'm desperately trying not to eat my feelings. Yesterday was hard. I really wanted ice cream or candy. I did good through the whole day until the very end. After dinner I ended up having 4 pieces of garlic toast (the bread was thin slices of italian bread), a smoothie (which had frozen fruit and orange juice), and three pieces of candy. Right now it's a fight not to binge. This morning I had a healthy breakfast and I'm not craving anything too badly yet. However I have little energy. I wish I could take a day off work but I have no benefit time left.

  • Snack: 4 pieces of garlic toast (small slices), smoothie (frozen fruit with orange juice base), 3 rollos (candy)

I didn't have an indulgent meal even though I had a little more calories from snacks than I should have. I am happy that I am sticking to a healthier diet for my meals though so I'm going to focus on that.

Ok, did not do great yesterday, but I think it was better for me to indulge than not. I was worried about going overboard. 

 

I enjoyed a really good book club meeting last night. We had some new members come to the meeting and it was a great discussion. We even went over our allotted time, just talking. 

 

Today I'm feeling pretty good. I'm not as depressed and upset as I was yesterday. I also feel a little relief I think at not having to fight against myself and the cravings I was having. I downloaded a new game and I'm looking forward to playing that tonight when I get home.

  • Dinner: chicken, veggie, pasta casserole & garlic toast

Yesterday I felt so hungry all the time. It's shark week, so I'm sure that's part of it. I've also been really tired and stressed. Also been really bored at work. I made better choice than I could have when I was craving that badly. I still had a soup and salad, even if I did eat chips and queso. I only had a single scoop of ice cream. I got the small package of gummy bears. Considering how bad my cravings were, I think it could have been a lot worse. 

 

So far this morning I'm not having any cravings. I'm hoping that my indulgent eating yesterday helped satisfy those cravings and I'm getting back to the way I used to eat. This morning I had the egg scramble and I have no desire to snack, except for maybe an apple on my morning break.

This morning I weighed myself and I lost the pound I gained last week. Woo hoo! I'm back on the right track! 

 

Yesterday I did great with my healthy eating! Proud of myself! I'll put the details in the challenge updates. I also took my walk yesterday! I feel like I'm slowly but surely getting back on track! Happy dance!

I went to the doctor yesterday. I have these bumps on my knuckles and it's concerning me. They don't itch or hurt... but they appeared out of nowhere. We're doing a check for autoimmune disease right now. I have two sisters with RA, so really I feel like it's just a matter of time. If they don't find any indication of an autoimmune disease, then I'll probably be going to a dermatologist for a biopsy to see what's going on. 

 

After going to the doctor, I stopped and bought fireworks. Man, they're really expensive this year! I got my favorites though.

  • Dinner: pork chop, carrots, mushrooms, rice
  • Snack: 2 rollos; popcorn

Only thing I had that wasn't a part of my "healthy diet" was the rollos. Those are candy, but they're only about 28 calories a piece. I did amazing yesterday considering I haven't had a day this good since I got back from vacation. I had noticed that I've been getting diarrhea after eating sometimes and I asked my doctor about this. She thinks my body is not used to high carbs/fat anymore and so it's just my body's reaction. As long as I continue eating healthy, I shouldn't have too much issue. This is another great motivator to keep eating healthy!

So, I'm upset and depressed again. Super disappointed. Was supposed to have a big 4th of July party this weekend (nothing to celebrate America... just shooting off fireworks) but my sister who was supposed to host is sick with Covid. She's also the only one that can host. So, party is cancelled... or even if they decide to go on with the party, I'll probably bow out because I can't risk getting sick and passing it on to my 90 year old grandmother. This is the last year that all the kids will be home and we were planning a big party. Already bought hundreds of dollars in fireworks. I'm super disappointed. 4th of July is my family's big holiday...

I had a great weekend up until Sunday night. I don't really feel like typing it all out again right now, but let's just say it's ending with my sister and her wife getting divorced. I'm just trying to not give in to stress eating at this point. 

 

Challenge Updates: 

 

Make Good Choices! 

I will eat mostly healthy meals and keep indulgent meals down to 3 or less each week. 1/3

At this point I don't really remember everything I ate over the weekend, but I know I indulged way too much. I started to fall back into old habits. I definitely went over 3 indulgent meals for the week. 

 

Get in those Steps!

I will take a 15 minute walk 5/7 days a week. 2/5

 

Didn't really walk much over the weekend. 

 

Extra Exercise!

I will play Ring Fit on my Switch 2x per week.  0/2

 

I did not play Ring Fit.

Ok, so, stressful weekend. This week I've been really tired and lethargic. I think partly trying to recover from the drama over the weekend. It was pretty traumatic and it got violent at one point and I had to step in to help diffuse the situation. It was bad.

I've had a few days to get my strength back and last night I went to bed early to get a little extra sleep. Feeling much better today!

 

Also, over the past week or two, I've been stress eating and having trouble getting back on track. Thursdays are my weigh-in days so I expected to have gained some weight. Actually I didn't! Last week I weighed in at 261lbs and today I weighed at 258! I was so surprised! Feeling pretty good this morning! 

 

I feel like I'm getting back on track with my diet. The past two days I've had a perfect day on my diet! I'll outline it more below.

Monday: 

  • Breakfast: Scrambled Eggs
  • Lunch: Nachos
  • Dinner: (I don't remember)
  • I don't remember what, if any, snacks I had through the day. 

 

Tuesday:

  • Breakfast: 3 eggs & an apple
  • Snack: Balanced Breaks snack
  • Lunch: Japanese hibachi & veggie gyoza
  • Dinner: Pork chop, steamed veggies, small baked potato
  • Snack: Smoothie 

Wednesday: 

  • Breakfast: Egg mcmuffin & a banana (I didn't really have a choice but to pick something up for breakfast on the way to work, so I got something small and fairly low calorie. I only got one breakfast sandwich and went for the ham instead of sausage. 
  • Snack: Balance Breaks
  • Lunch: Tuna salad sandwich, apple, & pretzels
  • Snack: pretzels, 3 pickles
  • Dinner: Egg scramble (did a meal prep)

I have not walked. I've been really tired and recovering from the stress of the weekend. Today I'm determined to get a walk in though.
