KB Girl
You know how there is the American concept of a soccer mom? In the Netherlands we have the bakfiets moeder or the cargo bike mom. Tomorrow we will sleep in our new house for the first time* and its location is perfect for going everywhere by bike. It is however, quite a bit further away from our garden, which will be a challenge. As a cargo bike mom I will; - go everywhere with the kids by bike (also without the kids) - save up for a new cargo bike - make plans for dealing with rain and cold and flat tires As a newly moved mom I will try to re-establish some equilibrium by; - finding a new routine with help from my bujo - really plan trips to the garden (since they will take longer now) - go for 2 walks (or runs!) in the new neighbourhood every week - find a new routine for my training at the gym inspiration (this is the kind of bike I have, but not quite as many kids) 6 2 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

I assumed its just that transporting the bear in a cargo bike is better for the environment than by car.. or maybe its that when the bear its the children it is good for the environment? 4 hours ago, juliebarkley said: Excited for your bike adventures! Mine is actually very similar to a normal bike, the front wheel is just a bit farther away so the anticipation of when the steering should start is a bit different. Some cargo bikes have the steering the other way around from a normal bike, that just seems like asking for trouble imo x) 1 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment
KB Girl
The challenge has commenced! I only later realised that I have a bit of an obstacle because we don’t have an internet connection in our new house yet and I absolutely hate browsing the forums on my phone.. so ehh.. sorry for my absence. Hopefully we’ll have a connection by the end of the week and perhaps I’ll have some free time at work tomorrow. Posting on my own thread without checking in on y’all makes me feel guilty but @Scaly Freak lives in my head and tells me not to be ridiculous so here I am My first day was a pretty good start! Went to the garden by bike which was a good 20 minute workout x2 (I swear it was mostly uphill both ways and I don’t know how that is even possible), later I dropped some veggies at a friends and picked up my 5yo also by bike. I got quite a lot done too, some unpacking and cleaning and laundry and cooking. 4 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment

KB Girl
My legs are sore from all the bike riding aka the challenge is going well. Tuesday I went to work by car because I made a trip to the old house after to pick stuff up, but later I went to a shop by cargo bike and picked up the youngest from daycare by bike. I did a super short workout consisting of pull-up work and lunges. Wednesday I took the kids to my moms by bike which turns out to be a very pleasant route, 95% bike-only roads. Then on to work which was from 9:30 until 21:00 and then back home by bike. Didn't go home during my big lunch break because instead of a 10 minute commute it would have been almost half an hour which seemed a bit much. Another mini-workout consisting of backsquats and pushups. Thursday (today) we went to Jaap's mom by bike for lunch and then on to the garden. On the way back home we got rained on a bit, which wasnt too bad but reminds me that I should prep for more of that since fall has definitely arrived. Had a nice day with the kids, played games and worked with clay, did a lot of cooking and rearranging things in the kitchen. Even though my head is still chaosy I feel a lot more rested since living here. Might have something to do with my ex-neighbours. 3 Quote KB Quest: becoming a decent kettlebell lifter and an excellent coach 2023 goals tracker; cycling: 1047,7/5000km & reading to my kids: 58/365 days (updated may 1st) my instagram - my gym's instagram Link to comment
