Mad Hatter
Today was a success! Except for the part where I discovered my towel rack was leaking and had to hurry to the hardware store way too early in the morning. Botched the tape job to seal it up but it held up surprisingly well until the maintenance guy came over. Such adult. On a more fun note I started drawing again! Last Friday I went to a life drawing class which was really fun but really hard. The poses started at 4 minutes and went down to 30 seconds. Man, I was sweating. 😆 But I loved the tempo and the live feedback. Since the poses are so quick I could immediately try to incorporate the teacher's pointers in the next drawing. He was also very encouraging and spotted what I did nicely among the garbage. 😛 I'll definitely go back next month, and I'm determined to suck a little less next time. So I'm practicing. In the afternoon I went climbing and I had such a blast! I keep forgetting how fun climbing is. We were only two people today, neither of us had been climbing for a few weeks and we burned out at record speed. 😆 The feeling when I really, really want to keep climbing, but my body is shutting me down hard is so frustrating! But I climbed well and I'm quite pleased that I'm maintaining a 6b-ish-depending-on-climb level despite my poor showing. In other news - I finally fixed my squeaky skateboard trucks! And now I feel like such an idiot. As expected, it turned out to be a super easy 10 minute job, and it took me FOUR months. 😭 I basically lost the entire season because of procrastination. FOUR MONTHS! 4 4 Quote Link to comment
Elastigirl
Yay for getting climbing in! Yay for getting the skateboard fixed. You think after procrastinating on so many things, and then having them only take minutes to do, I would just learn to do it quickly rather than put it off, but it doesn't seem an easy lesson to learn somehow.😉 Quote Wisdom 22.5 Dexterity 13 Charisma 15 Strength 21 Constitution-13 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind' Luke 10; 27 Link to comment

Mad Hatter
Friday I successed, eventually. Woke up like this and had a brutally hard time shaking it off. This is fine. Boredom is painful but it's information. I couldn't find anything fun to do so I asked myself what would at least be interesting and I ended up doing some painting studies before going out for dinner with a friend. Today I also successed. I painted and spent a lot of time outside as I finished season one of Dungeons and Daddies. 2 Quote Link to comment

For me, a lot of that is prioritising it. Like, with so many necessary things to grind through, prioritising something optional or voluntary or fun, even when it's easy, just doesn't happen as often. Sure, it's five minutes, but look at all this other stuff waiting in the queue. This is an interesting challenge, because I think I have trained myself not to do the things I want to do, so that Important Things Get Done, but with the side effect that neither thing gets done if I'm not really forcing myself to do things. 55 minutes ago, Mad Hatter said: This is fine.
