Are the sidekicks getting along?

They are getting along, finally. It took some patience by everyone, especially the humans involved...

 

A combination of many factors, mainly many kinds of tiredness caused by a need to focus on Sidekick-related things, has led to de-prioritizing the challenge that was supposed to follow this thread. Since there's so little time left, at this point, I'm just going to ride out this challenge thread, and start my next one for next period, regardless of what that might be.

Those are not actually eyebrows... that is skin, visible through the very sparse fur. The Feisty Sidekick is a former feral who suffered from a number of infections before he was trapped and placed in a foster family, including one on his skin. He has thinner than average fur above his eyes, and a bald spot on the underside of his chin. They don't seem to bother him, but the vet has instructed us to monitor them and report to her if the baldness starts to spread, or if Feisty Sidekick starts acting as if the spots bother him.

I try to post this every year at Thanksgiving, but since I might forget tomorrow I'm posting it today. And I'm putting it behind a spoiler so I can warn anyone who doesn't want to hear it, that there are racist comments that were bad even in 1993, here and there in the clip.

Aww poor thing. I thought it was patches of white fur. Doesn’t make him any less cute though!

He also occasionally wheezes, especially when he's breathing heavily after lots of energetic play, or makes wheezing noises when sleeping in certain positions, due to lingering after effects from a stubborn upper respiratory infection. The vet assured us that as long as Feisty Sidekick doesn't have difficulties breathing, there is no cause for concern, but this is another thing we are supposed to watch and report if it gets worse (though the blood panel showed no signs that the infection itself is still there). 

 

While this could sound like a lot it's also, to be entirely honest, a part of the package deal when adopting a shelter animal that started life as a feral kitten without access to vaccinations  while being exposed to everything under the sun. Feisty Sidekick is healthy now, he is fully vaccinated, is fed regularly and generously, and has laps and toys and and a huge bed, so his life is considerably improved compared to 4-5 months ago. Even if he is forced to share the huge be with his two humans every night.... but he doesn't seem to mind that very much. 😁

This is only a photo, so the very loud purring isn't audible. Feisty Sidekick sleeps, and if he's petted and loved on then he purrs in his sleep. 

 

(It's incredible that anyone thought we needed studies to prove pets are good for our mental health. Anyone who has a pet knows this is a fact.)

Some people needed it writing that haven't been blessed by the love of a pet.
