Chesire’s Purple Tiger Tales and Other Stories

Recommended Posts

I'm going to try some story journaling, like nature journaling but I recording the stories I see in the things around me.  This means I need to figure out what works for me as I’ve never done anything like this.  But here’s a crazy critter that appeared on the island over the summer.  Very mysterious. Don’t know how it could possibly have arrived here as I thought they liked more exotic locals.  Very rare purple tiger

I’ll be back with more goals and official points when I’m back at the computer.

Let's get this party officially started.

InbornHairyLarva-size_restricted.gif

Searching for party tiger got me this.   It's a thing.

Firstly!  I finally finished Darebee's Hero's Journey!  Boss battle today!  I only started that 60 day program in March and here it is 6 months later.  I had planned on it taking about 3 months or more since I was adding running into the mix, and it did.  I count it as successful for lots of reasons but mostly because I always knew I was still doing it, even when I couldn't get back to it for a few weeks. I never actually quit.

As I said above, I'm tired of just revamping my usual so I'm trying something new and very unfamiliar to me.   But of course there will be charts.

Generally speaking, last challenge was about recovery, mentally and physically, especially since it is my tough time of year.  Apparently the birds have nothing to chirp about when they aren't looking for mates or territory.  It's just so stinking quiet and that ways on me.  But this year was much better than the previous few.  I think that's partly to due to awareness of my history with it.  I can learn!  So I'm now ready to return to pushing a little bit more.

Primary task is story journaling.  I'm envisioning this as recording the story snippets I imagine around me with accompanying drawing or pictures.  I'm not starting a fancy new journal until I've given this a real try.  So pen and paper or posting here will be the method for now.  3pts  📕  4 days

Secondary task is alcohol ... reclamation, maybe?  I want it to be a thought and plan, not a bad habit or default.  Therefore planned alcohol only.  The day  and the drinks must be planned at the beginning of the week.  Success is avoid on no days, and stick to the plan on plan days.  Un-success is not avoiding or exceeding the plan.  💚 is successful none.  ❌ is not success of either 🍸is as planned  2 pts each

Lesser task 1 is fitness.   continuing with Zombie, Run!  and I will find a new program at Darebee because I'm not up for planning my own right now.

1 pt 4 days 🧟‍♀️

lesser task also is being a better housemate.  I've slacked at household work since we moved back in with my parents.  Mom just does stuff and that isn't fair.  So I will be planning and making dinner, cleaning up the kitchen, and general household cleaning (especially since we brought the pet fur.)  Mr C is doing this as well since its the right thing to do.  4 days minimum 1 pt 🧹

I feel this one! When we moved in with my parents we were just "here", but now that BabyG is born and I'm actually moving around and living life instead of recovering, I've been trying to help out with more, especially since my mom is super busy rn. Hope this goes well for you. :)

It's really early Sat morning.  The dog was wound up because it's a beautiful crisp morning, her favorite.  I have a stupendously busy weekend at the store.  There is a major, off-site sales and learning event, which means we all must be on all the time.  Exhausting and a bit stressful.  So I'm awake with an active but still sleepy brain.

I've settled on the next darebee plan, Strength Protocol,  which of course will be stretched due to adding in running days and official rest days.  Darebee does decent active rest days usually but I need days where I don't need to check in with a plan sometimes.

I haven't had much time to myself  so not much in the way of actual journaling, but I thought about it.  Does that count?  sort of a 1/2 check mark?

I did not stick to my plan Thurs night, my glass kept evaporating, but at last night's opening event, where the store was buying my drinks, I declined and stuck to water!  Tonight is another planned night, and since I'm representing the store at another social gathering.

Let me just dump here for a minute...  The store is hosting this event that the boss called "Camp XXXXbrand" and it's all set up around summer camp themes.  To the extent that  everyone got friendship bracelets in their welcome bags, at which they they received their 'cabin' assignments aka the class group their in.  It's fun and the people all seem to be into the playfulness of it.  But I'm on runner duty.  I have to run between the store and site for missed, forgotten, replacement, etc things.  While being cheerful and attentive at both places, and constantly with pricked ears for 'hey, Chesh" or the buzz of a text.  It's  just so draining and I don't feel like I accomplish much on those days.

Phew, I just needed to dump that so it's no longer taking up space in my brain.  On to other things.

Reminds me of my 16 hour work days, where in the past I made excuses. Due to the zero week challenge 1 min walks were officially counted and I found a domino effect of making things easier.

Is there a way you could make these exhausting days easier?

Bouncer- You're absolutely right about planning better for those exhausting days.  And if they happened more often I'd put in more effort to plan.  Instead I just make sure I get at least a walk in, even if its only a few minutes.  Since this type of thing happens rarely I mostly just survive the few days and take notes for the next time

Obviously I don't have much to report for the last few days, and today I plan on running if it isn't raining, DB plan if it is, and doing something just for myself.  I don't yet know what that is.  Oh, and make soup for lunch this week.  Probably a pumpkin based one (thanks Bouncer)

An awesome perspective, I personally found my "rare busy days" were happening weekly (had to change my own dial). Glad you are giving yourself what you need.

Where did that week go?  Turns out that by trying to be doing stuff by 7am I don't tend to be on NF as much.  Time to make a plan for that.

It was a decent week

I'm having trouble doing story journaling.  I've taken notes of thoughts and I have supporting pics but I'm not really sitting down to do it.  It seems daunting, like a major project.  I know I just need to set it up as a little thing to dabble at at the end of the day or something.

I need to get my butt off this chair and make this week's lunch.  I'm thinking a pot of chicken stew, veggie heavy of course.  Also, I should text a friend to see if we can get together... uh today.  Huh, that might not work.

I successfully made a few trial pieces of clothing in alignment with my epic quest to have a selection of go-to sewing patterns this week!  Cooling weather means a return to the sewing machine apparently.  Also, I think that is where a lot of my story time went to.

Looks like I need to do some chores :)

I did manage to pin friend down for lunch, and subsequently was sucked in to helping move some things in her house.  Sometimes people abuse the strength abilities but of course always while saying wow, I'm so impressed/glad/amazed/etc  🤣

Didn't make lunches since the meat I had had turned.  ick.  So I'll make do with leftovers and peanut butter sandwiches if necessary.

I even made time to sit down and draw  in my story journal!  I don't yet have the courage to share with you guys, but I know I'll get over that soon.

LOL. Hubby is retired now, so yesterday I came home to a freshly swept house.  This is a monumental task because we have all floors - no carpets - and six long-haired pets.  We could easily grow a new pet every week from the amount of hair that accumulates.  Good luck with that housework!

We've had a busy and fun weekend.  We had a cord of wood delivered, which of course had to be stacked.  What super Nerd stacked 85% of it by herself?  hhmmmm?  I'm sore, but proud.  Also, much like my useless-to-me deer spotting skills, I apparently also have wood stacking skills that had as of yet been untapped.  Very few gaps in that stack :)

We had a pile of kiddos here Saturday.  Our friends were able to drive out to visit for lunch and a bit of playing at the beach, but not a 'beach day' since it was in the 50F's here and cloudy.  The kids were excited to run from the waves and find shells.

Then my brother came by for a bit with my nephew/god son who is now old enough to have a personality and be chatting up a storm, though anyone's guess what he is actually saying!  He took me all around the house showing me 'books' and 'not books.'  Just about the only true words I could make out!

I haven't really tracked my trackables in a few days, but I'll sit down maybe sometime today and see what's been happening .

My dad makes no alcohol nights a challenge.  Every evening he asks if I want a glass of wine when he pours himself one.  Stupid habitual answer of yes brings me to ❌ even if I subsequently don't have any more.  So now it looks all terrible when in fact it isn't the worst.

Here is a weird pic for my story journal.  (I did a drawing, no you can't see it.  I'm getting there, but not yet)

Yep, just  leaf.  Or so it seems.  Josie and I both know this is more than a leaf.  We saw it bounding like a critter on a still day, but when we both jumped and turned to look at it, just a leaf.  Clearly a shapeshifter of some kind, but I'm not skillful enough to identify.

I have my quilting weekend next week end.  I am not a quilter.  The other's are let me come play anyway.  I have a few projects in the works that align with some of my Epic Quest efforts of having go-to patterns in my back pocket for clothes that fit.  Also a few crochet WIP that I'll bring along.  I'm looking forward to doing next to nothing except eating and making.  (my system does not like this sudden switch to sedentary behavior, but it worth it)  There will probably be pics after since one of my projects is a fun Halloween skirt.

Oh. My. Nerds.  The birds are back.  If you've followed along with our story you know that August and September are a challenge for me here because the birds, and a lot of insects, go quiet.  I find the silence oppressive and it spikes my depression response if I'm not careful  But the winter birds are here again and chirping away.  Sigh*  so much better

I'm not going to go back and look at the beginning of this one.  Chesh who wrote it was in a rather different place.  And you can tell where things changed by the lack of my handy charts.  MrC lost his job in the middle of this one, so I'm going to count just being here and trying any of the things as successful challenge.

I'm going to take this zero week  and consider where to go with the next challenge.  it will likely look really familiar, but we'll see.
