I swear I have never been part of a group that's so discombobulated, I'm fairly sure the reason it exists is so the leader can pat herself on the back. The only thing she does is lead meetings and tells everyone else how it's going to be done.

Well it's official, starting after the first week of next year those that live within an hour drive or 35 miles have to go in two days a week, within 60 miles once a week (not reimbursable), and outside of that range once a quarter (company paid). I live 53 miles from the closest office.

One of the biggest draws of this job when I took it is I wouldn't be made to make a needless commute just to sit in an office with a bunch of people that are not related to the job I do, they make phone calls and have meetings with clients and potential candidates, I make sure they get paid and enter invoices for payment. In the short term I can see some benefit with my boss coming in and training me on additional responsibilities, but spending 4 hours (round trip average) driving through Atlanta traffic is not thrilling me when for my position it's not necessary. Most of the training I have had to date has been virtual, no reason the rest can't be.

My boss did ask that I come to her if this isn't something that works for me before I go looking for another job, I don't have an issue doing that, there is also the potential for promotions and raises with additional training which is a source of current frustration with this position, we'll see how it plays out.

That sounds awfully frustrating. I can certainly see spending a few days in the office for training and getting to know the team members in person. After that, they need to have a valid reason for requesting you to be onsite.

It sounds like your boss realizes this and wants to do what she can to keep you. With the current job environment, it is a sure bet that you can get a position at another company without too much hassle.

So, went to see if I'm a candidate for Lasik yesterday, the answer is yes and no. I have two options, they can do what they call a monovision correction, which is where they fix one eye for distance, one for close, and let my brain work it out, the other is they can fix my distance (I've worn glasses for distance for 44 years) but I would have to wear reading glasses.

The nice thing is for the monovision I can do a trial run with contacts that mimic this to see if I like it, if I don't, then we won't do that. Honestly, I'm not willing to give up not having to wear readers to get distance vision, I'd have to wear glasses for something so I'd leave it the way it is.

Rough start to the week, had some issues going on that affected my sleep, not sure why I didn't sleep in on Saturday, had nowhere to be was just awake!

Calories/macros were good until the concert, would have been fine if we didn't go to IHOP afterwards because we were still hungry, then Saturday went to Longhorn, also would have been good but passing up dessert to bring home just didn't happen either.

Adulting was completed, scheduled cleaning on my to-do list this week and have my list for thanksgiving groceries all set because this is a FL weekend so I'm going to take care of it Friday before we go, put on the to-do list when to prep items so I'm not doing it all at the last minute...and have a Tat scheduled for Wednesday  

I am thankful we do not have to bring them back with us when the weekend is done.

Regarding my upcoming acronym,  I'm torn on what to make L, E is going to be eat, as in staying on plan with what I eat, kind of an offshoot from tracking, which will return to being just for that, but I'm debating on making L for limber and love. Limber would be incorporating yoga back into my routine, love could be doing something I love each day, such as reading, crochet, or riding, or finding something to love about each day, or something else entirely...so for obvious reasons I'm leaning towards Limber LOL

L could be Learn, which would include Duolingo and any other new things you work on.

 

I have been enjoying the new Duolingo format so far. I was working through all the units in level 5 and starting on level 6 in the old format. It felt like I was not making much progress. I don't know how it decided what level I should be at in the new system (level 85?!?) but the lessons are easier. That encourages me to do more of them each session, because I have fewer mistakes to correct.

One thing I noticed, does it not 'crack' the prior completed lessons so you have to go back and complete them again? I know that used to mess with my anxiety something fierce! .

Yeah, I'm on level 13 with the new one, I know I was in the second section of the 'tree' with everything completed to the purple color because goddess forbid I start a new one without fully completing the old one, and making sure all of them were not cracked that were already completed...

But they seem easier to me as well.

Not certain what this means for me, I know right now I'm probably okay, but not super comfortable with this development. One of my frustrations will be resolved since now the training on the rest of my job responsibilities will be done. She'll be here till possibly February, to train her replacement (if it's being restructured why is there a replacement? Somethings not adding up) This likely means my presence in the office is going to be increased for a bit, the replacement lives in PA so it's not like she's going to be there much after training.

Hmm, that is odd. I scrolled back and the lessons I had to the purple level are still purple. There are a whole bunch that are gold. I was gradually going through units I had finished before (meaning before they added the Legendary = purple level) and leveling them up for review and easy bonus points. I was more than halfway through level 4. I had all of level 5 up to red.

 

I haven't gone back to any of the lessons in gold to see which topics they cover. I have gone back to some of the stories. I was up to about story 50. I saved these as an easy treat after I finished a lesson. The stories in the lessons in gold in the path have ones I have not read.

Ouch, that is certainly a concern. I would certainly ask about the new structure, what your responsibilities will be and who you will report to. I hope the new person is a good fit.

I always cleared to purple once they started that, those are still purple...when they would look cracked I would go back and do them again to repair them, I don't see any that are cracked anymore, but it's a lot more to go back and check now than it used to be!

I know she plans on training me to do the things I should have already been doing, which is good cause there's a reason I do so much consultant work

That is my granddaughter, my daughter in law lost two prior to having her, which is the reason for the double rainbow. The theme is similar to one I have with my boys names on it (if I didn't give birth to you, or someone I gave birth to isn't one of your parents, your name is  not going on my body  ) which is supposed to be a 'melting' heart of ice, with the ribbon of fire with the name on it being the cause of the melt...

The idea came from when a friend/former FWB, used to call me the ice queen, she said someday I would meet the one that would melt it...I already had, just not in the manner she meant 😂
