We're finally home! We arrived safely yesterday. I'm exhausted. I drove most of the way yesterday, while my folks slept or worried about the house, and I said "It's going to be fine. It's a good house." and then went to the store and got groceries and picked up a pizza for dinner.   We all have colds now, which I think it's just lack of good sleep, good food, and we're going to feel really great after a few days of quiet rest at home

 

Now I'm going to eat some leftover pizza  Have an awesome day

I tested positive for Covid. I feel okay. My throat hurt a lot this morning and I was like “hmmm this feels familiar”  which is why I took the test. Mom is sick too, but she said she tested negative. Dad feels good and is avoiding us. We’re lucky it’s not bad at all. 
 

I’m going to be off for week zero, but I’ll see you at the next challenge fer sure

Thanks everyone. I'm super gross today, but feeling better.  Mom is not better yet, and Dad still feels good, but he's struggling emotionally from not being able to hug us or eat meals with us.  Mom is kinda breaking down and eating at the kitchen table and he sits and talks a lot, adn I'm like "You are going to get him sick, and that is the worst." 

 

IF HE GETS SICK, I AM NOT DEALING WITH IT. IT'S ON HER. 

 

Dad being sick is like awful. He makes his face like he's in the worst pain of his life, and he never quite gets to cover his face when he coughs or sneezes and then he doesn't wash his hands enough and he's blind and touches EVERYTHING and he insists he can do everything he does when he feels good, so he'll try to put away all the dishes and then he coughs all over them and we have to wash them again, and then he gets super depressed because he's DYING AND WILL NEVER FEEL GOOD AGAIN. 

 

Seriously, I am not being kind when I am masked in my house and furiously disinfecting everything. It is self-preservation against Sick Dad. 🤣

My sympathies.  Sick Dad is definitely the worst, and I definitely get the frustration when Mom isn't doing her part to prevent that (having been in a similar situation with my Dad who has advanced Parkinson's).  Hopefully you and your mother recover quickly and your dad stays in the clear.

My grandfather had Parkinson's, and it is a difficult, difficult disease. Please feel free to vent/share/debrief at any point.  

 

Mom explained to me that at this point, my dad's mental well-being was in greater crisis than his risk for Covid. and after listening to him today, I agree. Still, he better not get sick.   Thanks for your support.

BEST BROTHER EVER brought groceries and left them at our doorstep today. He waited in his car until my mom came out to get them, and he said "FEEL BETTER SOON!" and drove off. My dad was hoping he'd come in and chat, and I said "He can't risk getting COVID. He's been on steroids for a week from that allergic reaction, he's really susceptible to illnesses right now." and they were like "Oh."

 

I think covid is making me cranky, because I just want to yell at EVERYBODY. Except my brother. He brought tissues with lotion. He's the best.. (for NOW) LOL.

This is a hard mentality to overcome and is frustrating to deal with.

It is frustrating. Dad has always been like this, but Mom is burned out from taking care of Dad so much, and she needs a break. Even when she and dad were in florida, it wasn't a break for her. It was for me. She and I had a long talk about that. About how two weeks and I don't feel so annoyed by everything Dad does and that she could really use a break. A REAL break. She's considering it.
