Just so y'all know that I am actually a nerd (although I know I would be welcome here, even if I wasn't), my copy of the White Sand Omnibus just came today! It's so pretty!!! Brandon Sanderson is currently my absolute favorite author!

Very cool! I have only read book 1 of the White Sands. Right now, I'm reading Tress of The Emerald Seas, and really enjoying it.

I'm waiting for my hard copy of Tress before reading it. Shouldn't be too much longer!

Sleep: you know, I don't think I'm trying very hard.

When I feel like I'm not trying very hard, it helps to think through the why. And to give myself permission to say that I don't think the goal is important, or it may be important but now isn't the right time to work on it.

Week 5, Sunday
1) Workout: Went hiking
2) Sleep: actually went to bed just after 11pm!
3) Hydrate: over 1.5L

There's a local mountain hike that's used a lot for training, and the standard time for minimum fitness in the local mountaineering groups is usually 2 hours to a spot near the top. For my basic mountaineering class, we had to do it carrying a pack that was 20% of our weight. For me, that was around 27 lb. For the intermediate class (which I haven't taken), it's a flat 35 lb. I decided  to see where I'm at, so I tried it with 36 lb in my pack and I did it in 2 hours and 1 minute! I feel strong and powerful!  Now I just have to maintain this for the next couple of months and I'll be in good shape for climbs this year. Lent is coming and that makes things challenging.

I think a lot of it was getting out on hikes and snowshoes most weeks in the last month. I wish there was a way to tell how much the almost daily workouts are helping. Or if there are workouts that would be more effective. Most of the mountaineering specific workout programs I've seen either take a huge amount of time or involve things I don't want to do right now like running (or both). And I'm not at the point of being able to cobble together my own workout program from the pieces I like. So I'll just carry on since it seems to be working!

Week 5, Wednesday
1) Workout: Got back late from church and dealing with car issues, tired and hungry. After taking care of hungry, I didn't feel like doing a workout.
2) Sleep: a little after midnight, which was actually kind of a win because I didn't watch another episode of something (definitely considered it)
3) Hydrate: 1.2 L
