I'm very loosely theming it with MHA, as usual, mostly just with gifs. Hopefully I'll be able to do more intense challenges moving forward but I'm still adjusting to life right now. So I went completely AWOL in the middle of my challenge in April. I had been feeling sick, couldn’t keep food down, was having weird food aversions, and a lot of emotional weirdness. To what I’m sure is exactly nobody’s shock, I was pregnant. It wasn’t a particularly hard pregnancy, but it definitely sapped my energy. I worked fewer hours, slept a lot, and went very few places. Other than the doctor and the chiropractor. However, I also did personal training for a couple of months, swam a few times, and tried to get out of the house when I could. While I was pregnant, I lost a decent amount of body fat because my first trimester I couldn’t eat anything. Once they medicated that so I could eat, I just didn’t want to. Nothing sounded good. However, what I ate was terrible. And on top of that, the first couple of weeks after delivery I had three gallbladder attacks. The most recent one landed me in the ER 11:30pm the night before a 12.5 hour drive to move. Speaking of that, I basically undid my move to Indianapolis. I now live back close to my and Mr. Right’s families- we actually live in my grandmother’s house with her. There’s a lot more space in this house than where I was living in Indy, and due to issues, Mr. Right and I couldn’t get a place to live there. So in short, there’s been a lot going on. Thanks to being postpartum, I have a lift limit of 20lbs and I can’t start any kind of new exercise routine. So I’ll just have to get used to moving and having a routine rather than improving any kind of strength just yet. Plus, I’m still adjusting to having a newborn around. Noting all of that, I am going to be focusing on getting good habits back on board - a sort of back to basics challenge. With that, here are my goals for the first challenge of the year. On The Move: 15 Minute Walk Each Day My baby has a stroller and both of us need to get outside regularly. I want to get into the habit of moving more frequently. Then when I'm cleared by my doctor postpartum I can start working out a bit more. But getting used to moving again is important. Every day that I go on a fifteen minute walk is one point. Weather permitting. Be Flexible: Stretching Daily I stopped stretching while I was pregnant because there was a baby in the way. But I like being flexible so I'll jump back into my daily stretching. It makes me feel good so it's a priority to me. Every day I stretch is one point. Energize Properly: Cooking 3x/week While pregnant, I was so tired but I stopped cooking. I need to get back into cooking so I'm going to make the goal to cook for my family three times a week. That way I can start eating a bit healthier. Each time I cook is one point. Hydrate or Diedrate: Drink A Full Water Bottle Daily With breastfeeding I need to be hydrating better. I have a giant 36 oz waterbottle that I'd like to finish up every day. That'll be a good start towards being more hydrated. Every day I drink a whole bottle of water is one point. Having Fun: Prep For Hobbies Every Other Week I’m trying to focus on spending time doing things that bring me joy. Things like reading, playing piano, bullet journaling, etc. So I’m going to do something every other week that will promote that. Things like getting my library card reinstated or getting my desk set up. Then I can spend time doing those things I love. Each time I prep is one point. So that's it, that's my challenge. I'll be making some adjustments to have lower fat meals, so I don't have so many attacks between now and when I can get a Primary doc and surgery to remove the stupid thing. Thankfully, I'm feeling better this morning and I was able to feed my baby when she got hungry so I'm happy about that. Today's goals are to make a grocery list and do some laundry. Somehow, she is ❤️ Right now she's napping on my grandmother a few feet from where I'm taking a few minutes to update here. One of these days soon I'm going to have to put a picture of her up - she's six weeks old today ~ Yesterday was a good day, I went on a couple miles of walk with my mom and my baby girl, drank all my water plus some, and stretched. I haven't lost anywhere near as much flexibility as I was worried I was going to. My strength is middling for me, not my best but not awful either. And I was able to keep up with the walk without any real problem other than my shoes being uncomfy. I'm incredibly exhausted, baby girl is getting some nipple confusion from me having to supplement so much, and I'm expending far too much emotional energy. Also, I went for a walk today and got a blister on the bottom of each foot. Ugh. Baby Jedi wanted to eat so I was back in bed at 11:30, then she wanted to eat again at 12 something, then again at one something.... and in between she didn't want to sleep. So there wasn't much sleep to be had. ~ So today was okay. I couldn't go for a walk because of the weather, but I did go get my new library card and a tall stack of library books. I'm fairly pleased about those. I was going to cook dinner but had to go to the store and such after the library - and I got stuck there for a bit during a tornado warning. So I'll cook tomorrow. And I plan on making fresh bread to go with dinner too. Tonight will hopefully be an early night, but I'm going to do some research on baby sleep training so I can get her on a routine asap. I actually felt like I could person today, which was huge. ~ Today was massively productive and I feel really good about it. I have always wanted to do a sourdough starter but my first one never took off properly >_> But my mom and I signed up for a digital class about sourdough starters in February! ~ It's been a rough couple days between physical and emotional exhaustion, I did literally nothing yesterday.
