[Yasha] Taking care of Tamagotchi Taash

Recommended Posts

Brain dump for now, may beautify later:

2 affirmations/ mantras: “I have inherent value as a person” & “do it for future Taash, we love future Taash”.

Tamagotchi care:

Teethies (habit stack w bedtime wee).

Lil walkies.

Freggies are friends.

Finance Fridays.

Sleep hygiene.

Clean the cage.

Scoop the poop (one shitty task/week).

Work boundaries.

It’s trying to communicate! (Sign 1/wk).

Following along! Tamagotchi care is a surprisingly apt analogy for goal setting; I like it.

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

Confession: I never actually had a tamagotchi :o... but I saw the analogy and liked it so much I decided to take it on! I have also been resonating with the idea that when I arrive in a room confused about why I am there/what I was doing that is in fact my Sim rearranging their stacked tasks.

Following along. Self-love is very important, I'm glad you are nurturing it.

Some of the advice I gave a friend while visiting over there I realised I don't always follow myself... self compassion/love was one I've decided to focus a little more on. I am good people, I should treat me nice.

Happy New Year from the future, folks! Had a friend over for NYE boardgames, then on NYDay (today) we had DnD - good to be back! Holidays was nice, but it is so good to be home. Unfortunately while we were away the cats got a serious case of the fleas and while treating them/the house yesterday my bigboy Mischief got to a bowl of water that had been in a room that was bug bombed and he got (relatively mildly) poisoned. He spent the night at the emergency vets and is doing much better, but I am ABSOLUTELY counting the ferrying him back&forth and talking to the vets on the phone and face-to-face as my "shitty task" for the week. Lots of practice on self-forgiveness, it was an honest accident (they don't usually have water bowls in that room, it was a bonus from us being on holidays, so I didn't realise it was there to catch the poison, nor to empty it after that room was done). Thankfully the cost was just financial and he should be OK.  Didn't get a walk in, but being kind about it, it just didn't fit in to today. DnD finished at a reasonable hour (8pm), so I had time to clean up after and am posting this from the PC then hopping in to bed almost exactly on time without screens. Didn't check any work emails.

Hey Yasha ❤️

So sorry about kitties, hope the fleas bugger off and that the poison doesnt have a lasting effect on Mischief. ❤️

Are you settling back home ok?xx

How are you Yasha? xx

Thanks friends! The poison seems to have done the trick for the creepy crawlies, as well as passing through the cat with minimal damage. Thankfully it was a small 'dose'- with just the film from on top of the water bowl from the aerosol. The vet said the worst she has seen was a confusion wherein the owner gave their cat the dog's flea medicine (way higher dose) meant to be applied to the back of the dog's neck... by mouth. So my honest mistake feels much more acceptable by comparison. I picked Mischief back up yesterday and kept a close eye overnight. He is back to his normal self today and the danger window has passed. I am thankful.

Today was an absolutely stunningly beautiful day. Mx and I went snorkelling at two nearby beaches and it was lovely (approx 3hrs spent in the water, counting that as today's walk). We grabbed a few little groceries on the way home and Mx made dinner (including frozen strawberry 'mojitos') while I phoned my parents. Did the 5min cleanup and forced myself to stop at 5min (I want to see what a consistent 5min can achieve). On track for bedtime, just need to post this and make a few quick notes in my journal.  I've ticked teeth already so I have to do them on the way from the dining table to the bed.

I'm interested to see how this works out for you. My experience has been that I just keep cleaning the same little area with those 5 min, but I suspect that says more about my habit of dumping stuff there than it does the effectiveness of 5 min cleaning.

I'm working on training myself to just do five minutes of the jobs I don't want to do (like cleaning). Sometimes ten. It's taken me several days to get the kitchen clean (I didn't clean on all of them), but it's worked. Sometimes I just do five minutes of tidying or cleaning up a room before I work, and it makes a huge difference.

Then there's my desk, which has not been very responsive to that approach this week. I think it's just less obvious what to do with that stuff, so I go to put it somewhere, and, like, get stopped there.

I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever.

I suspect it will almost always be 5min of dishes. But even if I spend 5min collecting all the dishes from where they’ve wandered off to and rinsing them it will be valuable. I’m trying to also wash individual dishes / put away the dry ones while I wait for the coffee machine in the morning so I can get away from doing a whole overwhelming sinkload at a time. I bought myself one of those dishwands with the soap in the handle so I can do one  dish at a time. Visiting a bunch of people/AirBnBs while we were on holiday and trying out different methods/seeing how others do it was beneficial to me (though did convince me I need a dishwasher!).

Did another day at the beach because the weather is absolutely stunning and we gave each other snorkelling kit for giftmas. Home a little later than we'd like (or maybe cooking dinner took longer than expected), but good and tuckered out and I was able to convince myself that the 5min of cleaning tonight would make a big difference to tomorrow-morning Taash.

Good job, what a great start you have made xx

The car thermometer said 30C when I checked it, perfect beach weather.

Thanks! Keeping a strong start to the year in mind.

Enjoying fantastic weather for scuba diving sounds fantastic. May those 5 mins be beneficial after a good sleep :)

Thank you! Cloudy today, so a rest day from snorkelling- which is needed because even though it’s relatively easy with the flipper assistance, my legs and shoulders are feeling a bit of DOMS.

Wednesday and a little bit of a flop on some goals. Never mind, we shall press on! Teeth done and updating this thread then heading to bed, so got a few wins on the board as well as some fumbles.

I accidentally read some work emails - I logged in intending to just check the dates of the upcoming sign language class but got distracted by an enticing title (farewell party for a colleague, different colleague/s recieved an end-of-year award). I shut it down pretty quick, but that is exactly the sort of habit I need to be on watch for.

Didn't go for a walk, instead took a nap and did a surprise (bonus!) shitty task - while in the US my credit card got skimmed, so I had to call and talk to the bank this morning to get that sorted out, thankfully they recognised the two $400 charges as strange and did not honour them, so while annoying I am not out of pocket.

Pre-bed clean ended up being 14mins instead of 5, because I was watching an interesting youtube video while putting away/washing up the dishes. The kitchen looks pretty good! This is possibly because due to a weird day Mx and I did an accidental OMAD with lunch being the only meal that got made there. I suspect we will survive.

Thursday here, had a bit of a sleep in, drove around to pick up some freebies (most of them ended up already collected by someone else, good I guess for no more stuff entering the house) and drop off an item to someone in the neighbourhood group- ended up being one in one out “stuff” total.

Made sauerkraut from some bountious cabbage, hopefully it works out- doesn’t quite look /wet/ enough, but I will check it again tomorrow.

Did NOT want to go for a walk nor brush my teeth, but did go for a walk (to the shop for a bottle of milk) and am hyping myself up to get up and do the teeth. No points on sleep hygiene tonight as I am posting this from bed an hour and a half after my bedtime.

Did all the dishes (more than 5mins but less than half an hour).
