EG! It has been far too long since I followed one of your challenge thread. Hi!

Waving Hi GIFs | Tenor

I have to laugh when my brain does that. On more than one occasion, I have had snatches programmed. The bar was set for snatches, I knew it was snatches. Then the wires in my brain shorted and I ended up cleaning the bar with a very wide grip and looking very confused. Like, huh, the bar wasn't meant to end up here!

Really? I assumed everyone found deadlifts easier than squats.

Hi, yeah, nothing you can do but laugh when your brain just shorts

Often times, my bench press keeps up with my squat weight... I've no idea why.    (Maybe I am afraid to challenge heavier in legs lol.)

But yeah, What Tank Said™

LOL

Interesting. I think most women actually feel like their legs are stronger

I lift far more on deadlift than squat, but that's mostly because my knees don't like squats.

Yeah, my knees aren't too sensitive, but if I have bad form at all, they will complain.

My squat used to be better thany deadlift by about 50 lbs. I've injured my knee since then and have no idea how it would go now.

It's amazing how much my brain is not capable of on a Monday morning pre-coffee :D

And I can't do caffeine, so my poor brain has to just figure it out with no caffeine.  Really, anytime you get up and do a workout on a Monday morning it's a win, even if you do the wrong exercises.😉

Tuesday, I made hubby a Valentine meal. I made Moscow Mules to drink, baked salmon, rice, and broccoli (or salad, I forget) then for dessert I made Molten Lave Cake from Nom Nom Paleo. So good! Back in the day, when I could eat dairy and wheat, I used to make this, and it's been a while. Easy Chocolate Lava Cake (Paleo, Gluten free) - Nom Nom Paleo. Tuesday was arm day.

Wednesday I went for a walk before my friends arrived for prayer. Afterwards, it was nice weather, and I went for a nice long walk. In the evening we went out for dinner. The restaurant overlooks the lake. We were there in time to see the sunset, and since it was nice weather, we had a nice sunset.  It was a deal where you get appetizer, a meal, and dessert. I had shrimp cocktail, salmon with shrimp, and no dessert (since they all had lots of dairy) I came home and had my cake that I made last night.

Today was leg day. After Monday's mix up I figured that I could actually push myself more on the squats. So I did a double kettlebell squat with #20 and #25 pounds. Then single leg deadlifts .  Oh, backing up, I went for a short walk in the morning.  In the afternoon I decided to do rowing HIIT workout. I haven't done one in a bit. Not sure how it would go after I'd already done a hard leg day, but it went pretty well. I'm sure it wasn't as intense as if I'd done it on a seperate day, but since I'm doing a 4 day workout schedule, that isn't happening.

I also went through and cleaned off our bedside table and dressers in our bedroom. Then dusted. I found a box to store my husband's pins that he collects, so his table looks very nice.

Week 1 went well. Did my workouts. The weather was decent so I got lots of walks in. I didn't do anything toward buying an end table for my guest bedroom. I just need to go to the store and buy something. When I look online, there's too many choices, and I just shut down.  I checked things off my vacation to do list. So excited to go to Arizona and get some sunshine!

Yesterday, we had frozen chicken meatballs and store bought roast chicken. Good ,but high in sodium. Today the scale was way up. Logic tells me I didn't gain two pounds in a day, but still I hate seeing big numbers.   Reading @Sovalis's thread about not using the scale as a goal is speaking to me today. I feel like I have gained a lot of strength, and I'm happy about that, but it's really hard to not let the numbers on the scale decide if I'm doing it right or not.

DId legs workout today. For the suitcase deadlift I lifted #35 and #44 , a total of 79#, so that's pretty good. Also moved up a weight with the goblet squats, and was able to do #30 . I didn't finish all the workout as I wrote it.  It's taking longer this month because I am adding in a few more warm up weights, since I'm going heavier with the main exercises. So, I spent about an hour and I still needed to do  ab work (which is about 10 minutes) and my attention span and energy were done. I skipped the calf raises. I did do a couple of sets later in the day. I think that will be my plan. Do them later in the day, if I have time, but it's fine if I don't.  I didn't use to do accessory work in my workout. I  wanted to do them to see how I liked them, but I'm not going to stress if I don't get to them. And I want to make sure I do the ab work, because I feel like that's more important.

Sunshine sounds good! We could do with some of that in the UK, but I also don't want to wish the year away as my 40th is somewhat rushing towards me...! Good work on the workouts too :)

I'm really enjoying adding accessory work into my workouts, and I also like the little bit of flexibility they introduce.  My main lifts don't really take that long, so when I say I don't have time to do a workout, I really mean I don't have time for all the accessory work,  but I can almost always get the main lifts in, and it feels so much better than doing nothing.

Yeah, I think I really need to look at them in real life.  On workouts thats my perspective- I can find time for the main lifts, and hopefully fit in the accessory. Looking back at last month, I realized I superset my one leg  deadlifts with my goblet squats, and this time I'm doing them as their own sets. It takes longer, but it works better. I was struggling with the goblets as a superset.

The saga of the scale: Today my weight was down from what it was yesterday, but still high. I'm losing inches. I realized that if I stated my goal as body recomp instead of weight loss, I would be a lot happier. But, I'm struggling with seeing the bigger number on the scale. I think I will not weigh myself for a bit and see how that goes.  I worry about gaining a bunch of weight and not realizing it. I will however, keep measuring once a week, which right now is a more accurate picture of how I'm doing. Hopefully that will help me not be so worried about scale numbers.

Did my arm workout today. The floor press felt fairly easy, so on the last set I upped the weight to #25, and did 8 reps. I'm doing the bicep curls with a resistance band. They are still super tough, but getting easier. I went for a short 5 minute walk after breakfast and before my workout. It was cold, but sunny. I was all excited because it was sunny, and it's my day to walk on the trail with my friend. But, by the afternoon when we walked the sun had disappeared, and it was lightly raining. I still enjoyed the walk with my friend. She told me that her blood sugar numbers were way down and she no longer needs medication for her diabetes! I did a short video walk after dinner. Yesterday was my rest day. I woke up to a trace of snow, and it was lightly snowing.  Went for a morning walk. It was pretty seeing all the snow on the trees. By afternoon the snow was melted I did the GMB Literal Immortality workout and went for a walk. I also went and judged debate for a homeschool league. It's been a while since I did that. When my son was in debate, I judged a bunch. And then for a few years after. Interesting, but wow it takes a lot of concentration to follow all the arguments! It's encouraging to see how hard the young people work at it.

Today was leg day. I was a little slow getting going. I did go for a short morning walk. Did my workout. I was able to do more reps on the squats, so that was a win.

We  had a rib roast for dinner. Which is sort of similar to prime rib, I think? Google gave me confusing answers. Anyway, it was the last roast from the side of cow that we bought a bit ago. I thought it was a normal roast, but then I read the tag, and it said rib roast. I cooked it like it was Prime Rib- hot for 15 minutes and then on low heat. It turned out really good. I've been eating a lot of chicken breast lately, and I have to say I like beef a lot better. I've also struggled to find chicken thighs, so that's why it's been breasts.

Let's see how I did on my goals:

Goal 1: Looking cute in my shorts:

We are heading to Arizona the last part of the challenge, and right now my shorts are snug, so I want to continue the leaning out progress  I started last challenge.

     1. Mindful  habits; eat slow, pay attention to satiety, before I grab a second snack or seconds on food, pause, and think about why I am eating.

2.Track protein; aim for 120 grams a day

      3. Weigh myself once a day, measure once a week, look at weekly average for weight

       4. Drink water

Yes, I think I'm eating slowly.

I haven't tracked protein on paper, but I am doing good at weighing it, and getting a good amount.

I decided not to weigh myself. I was frustrated with the numbers, and just decided it was causing me more stress, and I would just focus on the measurements. That sort of backfired this weekend, because I knew there would be no immediate  results, so I ended up snacking more on Saturday.

Yes, I drank water.

Goal #2  Get strong and fit

I have a  4 day split, 2 days arms, 2 days legs. Also fit in rowing , walking, mobility, GMB as time and energy allows. I kind of would like to do a rowing HIIT interval once a week, but will see how that works with the 4 day split.

Yes, this is going great.

Goal #3 Life

1) Last challenge, my goal was to work on finishing my guest bedroom. That did not happen. This challenge, I will choose a bedside table. Bonus, if I buy a lamp to go with it!

2) Read 2 chapters of Atomic Habits and work on the skills

3) Do the things I need to for vacation prep- first thing to do this week is make a to do list

1) Nope , nothing

2) Yes, I was going to write summaries here, but that was causing me to not read it, so I just did it. But, now I've forgotten the wonderful helpful tips I've learned, so 😊

3) Yes, that is going well. This week I will look up some fun things to do (besides baseball) while we are there.

Saturday the weather was nice(cold, but almost sunny) so hubby and I went on a walk. I also did a GMB Literal Immortality sessions. Like I said above, I snacked way too much. Oh, backing up, I forgot to say, Friday I had friends over and worked on scrapbooking. Mainly, I just organized photos. We bought new phones, and so hubby downloaded a bunch of his photos unto onedrive. Some of them he had already downloaded,  but we couldn't tell on the phone. So, I am sorting through those, deleting duplicates, and organizing them somewhat.

Sunday was good. Church was good. Then wewent to  dance lessons. We worked on a contra dance that we had done before. Last couple of times we did it, I was hopelessly lost and confused, and this time, there were a few moments when I actually got it. So, small improvements. It's fun, lots of laughter, which reminds me to enjoy it and not stress because I suck at something.  Give me 10 years, and I will learn in.😉
