Took some naproxen after I got home from the gym and lunch, it's helped. I just got grocery shopping done.

We went to Bush's Chicken.

Today is a good day. The wrist and the knee seem ok, even after walking around all day. That is encouraging. I cooked tonight. I cooked some Italian sausage, and some cheese tortellini, then added some vodka sauce and topped it with Parmesan. We had a salad kit on the side. After that we went to my InLaws for MIL's birthday. We got her some cake and I had a tiny bit. My first sweets since Christmas, and incidentally the first time I had seen her since then. Her face has changed, she looks like someone suffering from Dementia. She still recognized everyone, but the changes are visible. It was sad. The hospice has come on board and her visits have begun. She'll get a once a week chaplain visit, once a week social worker, once a week RN, and once a week home health helper. My FiL is much happier to have the help.

It is. We don't know what the future holds but we have all started the grieving process.

Some thoughts. Little Bit is probably the only one who hasn't started the grieving process, because all she knows is "Grandma is confused." We haven't hid the situation from her, we've explained it in ways she understands. She has accepted the situation as she understands it. She has also experienced the death of a family member when my Grandfather died last summer. She liked him, but wasn't super close, so she was able to learn about death in a non-traumatic way. She asked questions about it like kids do, so at least she knows death is A Thing. Also, the last time she was with my parents, they went to his gravesite at the cemetery and planted flowers (planting season starts early down here). She also looked around at other gravestones as there is other family there and my parents pointed them out. I thought at the time and still think that was a good thing, as it's a non-scary way for her to have normalized that people die, and cemeteries don't have to be scary. It will be hard for her when the Dementia gets her grandmother in the end, but not as hard as if she didn't have these other experiences.

This brought back memories of visiting the cemetery with my great grandma. I didn't know any of the family buried there, but she and my mom did, and I think we would go most years to leave flowers. It was our (the kids) job to get water for the flowers from the nearby stream in the metal bucket we brought. They were good times. Solemn, but good. I should visit again sometime (it's a few hours away).

This sounds very healthy.  I didn't really have any experiences with death until I was mid to early teens.  The first wasn't too traumatic for me (we weren't close) but I could pick up on the trauma for others.  My grandfather, whom I was very close to, was my next experience.  I still feel the trauma now and have lots of unresolved grief.    In my experiences as an adult I've come to understand death as A Part of Life and completely normal.  It's still not easy but less traumatic I suppose.  I hope Little Bit is able to take something away from this that helps her in life.  And I'm very sorry about MIL and family.  There is no easy way through it.

This is far too rare, and in a way very fortunate both for Little Bit, and for you. Because now you don't have to worry about trying to explain death to her while you are dealing with your own grief, and that makes a difference.

Today is a good day. Tired again, but it's going to bed to late. Not a good habit, but at least it's not some mystery. Sra. Tanque talked to a counselor at school about what she's been going through, then talked about it again with some colleagues. It helped her she said. Dinner was good. I grilled some fajitas and cooked some onion and bell pepper in a cast iron skillet on the side burner. We had them with guac, sour cream, shredded cheese, and corn/flour hybrid tortillas.

Today is a good day. We are doing laundry. Little Bit was with my parents, so we went over in the afternoon and hung out. We took them out to dinner and headed home from there. It was a chill day otherwise. Little Bit was wore out from so much play, she fell asleep fast after we said goodnight.

Today is a good day. Church was good. I made chicken saag for lunch. I cooked chopped chicken thighs with diced onions, chopped baby spinach, salt, pepper, and curry powder till the chicken was done, then added ginger paste and minced garlic. After that cooked a couple minutes I added coconut milk and let it simmer. I made some rice with coconut oil, salt, and turmeric to go with it. It was good.
