TimovieMan
2 hours ago, Salinger said: Wow that’s a lot of swimming brilliant well done According to my Fitbit, walking burns more calories than swimming does... 😲 Maybe because I'm not supporting my own weight in the water? 🤔 2 hours ago, Salinger said: and go your daughter haha wonderful!!!! Xx I was technically beaten by a 9-year old girl, and now I'm telling everybody! 😁 So proud of her. And very happy that she has found a sport she really likes! Ballet and judo were less successful in the past. Ballet was mostly because she wanted to spend time with her friends, rather than the ballet itself, and she grew to dislike judo after getting her yellow belt - and no longer having the basic exercises. It's telling that in those other sports, we often had to get her motivation up before going to the class or training, and with swimming, she's jumping at the opportunity each time. Heck, she suggested going to the pool on Saturday afternoon, knowing full well that this would be immediately after her regular swimming class. But my son suggested the pool as well, so the choice was *very* easy... 😅 Sunday was a slow day. TimovieSon had a football match in the morning. Our team won, but it was a very close-fought match. Was 0-0 for a long time, then we quickly got 0-4 ahead, but the home team got back in the match at 3-6 and got to 6-7 and even 8-8. In the last quarter, my son was out of the goal and onto the pitch. He scored both winning goals. 8-10! He even exploited his strength in a duel, which he rarely does as he's generally too nice to go into a duel with another player. 😀 Mrs. Movieman also came back from her weekend with the friends in Amsterdam. Their motto was "what happens in Amsterdam, stays in Amsterdam", but all three still came back with matching tattoos. 🤣 I didn't have an accident with my coffee mugs in 6 years at the office, but in February, I accidentally broke two of my mugs in just 3 weeks. My "My job is TOP SECRET! I don't even know what I'm doing myself!" mug, and my Yoda mug. So the missus got back from Amsterdam with a new Star Wars mug for me: Guess I'll be leaving my "Superdad" mug at home again now... 😅 Effed up in the evening a little: no gaming and got in bed far too late because I had gone down the YouTube rabbit hole again. Slightly more educational this time, though. I got lost in Athlean-X videos, which is actually one of the better, more informative strength training channels out there (the only one on par with Steve's blog, imo). Yup. 🙂 So today I officially got the news that I'm on temporary unemployment due to unforeseen circumstances these next weeks. I missed the meeting on Friday because I had a day off, but I saw the mail on Saturday, so I already knew about it before the second meeting this morning. IT thinks it'll still be three weeks before the main system will be fully up and running. That means that I won't be getting my regular pay these next weeks, but an unemployment compensation from the government (which is 65% of my pay). Thank goodness Belgium has a great social safety net in these situations. My employer has also said they'll compensate for the missing 35% of our pay (at least for this week - April is still to be budgeted). I already sent in the paperwork this morning, and then went for a 90-minute walk. Did my workout in the afternoon. Spoiler - Warm-up: 60 seconds toe tap hops (DailyDare) 30 plank jump-ins (DailyDare) - in two parts, half before the incline push-ups, half after 10 incline push-ups 40 plank step-outs (DailyDare) - 20 each side, with a small break after 15 because I couldn't hold a plank that long - Workout (2 circuits): 2x10 one-leg calf raises 2 chin-ups 10 leg-assisted chin-ups 2 shrimp squats (DailyDare) - failed the dare, didn't get low enough on the first without losing my balance, tried my other leg and it felt really uncomfortable on my lats before I lost my balance there as well, noped out of the entire exercise 20 squats 10 push-ups 2x10 one-leg Romanian deadlifts 10 scapular pull-ups 10 hanging knee raises 20 wall slides 15 reverse crunch swipers Of course, not needing to work puts this challenge on "easy" mode, as I've got 40 additional hours to complete my objectives. So be it. Gotta take advantage of it while I can. 😇 How about some Austrian darkwave? 6 Quote Active challenges: New(ish) routine | Walk to Mordor - (spreadsheet) | DailyDare | Weight Loss PVP 10/12 lbs in 10/12 weeks - (spreadsheet) 2023 threads: Challenge VIII | IX | X | XI | XII | XIII 2018-19 & 2021 threads: Battle log | Challenge I | II | III | IV | V | VI | VII Link to comment

Actually, the Director's Cut - which is over 20 minutes longer - explains the writer/director's original view of what's going on in detail. But I very much prefer the far more ambiguous original cut. I got to make sense of it in my mind, and I like my theory better than the convoluted one the director had - which is why I prefer the original version over the Director's Cut. 21 hours ago, RhiaWolfe said: It's awesome that your kids are athletic and found something they enjoy! And got to bed at an acceptable hour. * * Too bad it was still a poor night. Took a while to fall asleep, but was woken two hours early because of infighting cats who took their quarrel to our bedroom and kept being annoying for a good long while. I love my cats, but I really wanted to dropkick these two at 5.45 am. Today was a day with little activity. Did the grocery shopping when the kids were at school, made lunch, and then drove TimovieDaughter to her music class. Because TimovieSon had a birthday party for a classmate to go to, I couldn't go on a walk during that music class. And with an additional rush of picking him back up before TimovieDaughter's swimming class and his football training, meant that a 30-to-40 minute walk during the swimming class was out of the question. So I made do with a 15-minute walk and "only" 9000 steps for the day. We do what we can? For this next band, I may be in the minority among the band's fans. Paradise Lost is a band that pretty much invented the death/doom metal genre, and named the gothic metal genre. One of the most influential bands in metal in the (early) 90s. In the late 90s they made a couple of "softer" albums. The guttural growling had lessened after two albums and was gone by then, but their transition to more synth-rock / industrial metal is considered their "lesser" period. They returned to gothic/death/doom in later outings. Their albums "One Second", "Host", "Believe in Nothing" and "Symbol of Life" are their least liked among their fans... I, however, loved this period in their discography. I consider "One Second" and "Symbol of Life" their best two albums. I saw them live back in October. They only played two songs off "One Second" and none of "Symbol of Life", but it was a great concert. They've got a large discography so plenty of great songs to choose from. My personal favourite is the opening track of "Symbol of Life". Got to bed at a reasonable hour last night. Slept well. Got up, got the kids ready and walked them to school, and then went back to bed for a couple of hours. 😁 Mistimed my workout a little. Had planned on doing 3 circuits of my workout this time, but started a little too late. I had a physio appointment for my elbow this afternoon, and wanted to shave and shower first, so had to cut 1 circuit from the workout to get everything done on time. Good news, though. Managed 2x 2 full chin-ups with better form than the previous ones, my grip strength has improved for the scapular pull-ups and hanging knee raises, and the post-workout pump was nice to see in the mirror. 😇 I also did the DailyDare exercises I didn't do the past two days. Spoiler - Warm-up: 40 jumping jacks 10 incline push-ups 2x 1 minute of side planks (DailyDare) 50 calf raises (DailyDare) 2x 25 single-leg bridges (DailyDare) - Workout (2 circuits): 2x 10 one-leg calf raises 2 chin-ups 10 leg-assisted chin-ups 20 squats 10 push-ups 2x 10 one-leg Romanian deadlifts 10 scapular pull-ups 10 hanging knee raises 20 wall slides 15 reverse crunch swipers Had a 30-minute walk to the physio's, and a 30-minute walk back. And went on a 30-minute walk during my son's goalkeeper training. Oh, and my tub of "extreme dark chocolate" whey protein was finally empty. I've got three smaller packs now, as a way of finding out which taste is best. "Delicious strawberry", "vanilla ice cream" and "double rich chocolate". The "delicious strawberry" is definitely tasty, if a little syrupy - but perhaps I just didn't use enough milk. Here's my highest-ranked song that I haven't posted before (it's my #6). It's an absolute masterpiece of Southern rock music, from the iconic guitar intro to the soaring vocal performance, every element of this is executed to perfection. The way the stunning instrumental solos come together make this a timeless anthem. It's simply one of the greatest songs ever recorded. And it's one of those songs that make me want to hop on a motorcycle and go for a ride - which is odd since I have no affinity with motorcycles... 😁 And this was a joy to play (albeit extremely hard) on Guitar Hero II.
