Here I lay, sick af (ok, not dying sick just craving NyQuil sick), with the Pilates gym I found while absent on the verge of closing, cast adrift in a sea of not knowing where I’m heading next, and who should message me with a reminder that I have Nerd Friends whom I love dearly and have missed that may feel the same? You guessed it: @Taaaaaaaaaaaaank. He nudged and I’m here with at least a placeholder. I aim to get my ish together and come up with an actual plan for my (fitness) life this week. Yell at me on Socials if I flake. It’s about to be Ramadan (and the villagers rejoice) and we are home bound for at least a month (probably). Plenty of time to re-remember how to set a SMART goal, get into a sustainable groove, and get off the constant dining out train. Right? Right. Back to recouperating on the couch and gathering FitSpo underpants in the form of Ramadan gym deals & gym programs and weighing all that against my lack of desire to take an Uber to go work out somewhere loud every day. 😂 I’m still a cranky mess. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ADDENDUM~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We'll call this one Darkfoxx84: A Prodigal returns. It looks like it's been a year since my last challenge - also Ramadan-themed—fizzled out. In that year, a year’s worth of things have happened. Fitness-related,lots of Pilates (reformer), very little yoga, but a bit of Pincha work along the way, and a return to vinyasa-based practice over slow flow. Food has been full of false starts & travel has been right back up to pre-pandemic levels. That's about it for a recap. I don't have any fancy work on goals to impart and I'm out of practice organizing my life in Challenge Cycle increments. So let's think Ramadan. Roughly 28 days. What can I get done in Ramadan since my Pilates gym shut down and I'm waiting to see if anything takes its place? How far can I get down a good path, and can I come out the other side of the Month Of Inconvenience ready for my next fitness chapter? I bit at Apple's offer and signed up for the 3-month fitness+ subscription that came with my iPad. They have a 21 day strength challenge. That sounds less scary than jumping into HIIT, so let's start there. Back, shoulders & biceps were my favorite things to work in Pilates anyways. Let's add in a daily :30-ish walk so I leave my building and see sun at least a little. Let's focus on protein first with my meals and work my way back into veggies. Let's also finish march's sewing project -at this point, all I have time to do is repair my walking skirt. On to April's when that gets printed - an Austrian-style dirndl dress. I'm keeping it simple with that. Should probably wait until the end of the day, but I’m stuck in my room keeping the dogs entertained while maintenance fixes my drippy kitchen light and some sort of a/c leak I’m not 100% clear on. I gave Odin a big chew he almost never gets because it gets him too excited for life and he’s in silent heaven. Freya is snoozing the snooze of the just beside me on the big bed and living her best life. At least a Fitnessy update for this First Day Of The Month Of Inconvenience. Took a roughly 35/40 minute walk around the marina listening to a podcast on the history of roller coasters. I knew Coney Island was historic and shit, but it’s actually quite important as far as amusement parks go. And usually lunch. Walked a different waterfront area today to soak in some almost-spicy sun, and then metro/metro feeder bussed it home for a big salad with sliced steak. Made some killer zero added fat crispy potatoes & an 80s level of fat burger patty for dinner. darkfoxx Posted March 30 Author Report Share Posted March 30 Thursday (so far): Sleep was poo per usual - had a hell of a time getting to sleep, woke up in the middle night with a leg spot so itchy I couldn’t stop scratching and had to get up to put lotion on, and then the damn fire alarm blooped for like the 3rd night in a row for just a couple seconds. I’d blame Ramadan - and there is definitely an uptick of people setting off the fire alarm in the middle of the night because of it - but our building (and all the other buildings in the neighborhood) have periodic times when the fire alarm goes off in the middle of the night - or day - with just enough frequency to scare the shit out of you and make it nigh on impossible to tell if it’s a false alarm or not.
