I'm a fan of the 7000-ish step ultimate goal, and 5k is a good chunk of the way there. I would make a plan for gradually getting there. 5000 steps is about 50 minutes of walking, and will be very noticeable going from a more sedentary pattern. It might even be a bit of a strain, if your body isn't used to that. So starting with consistency and ramping up, maybe even ramping up 1k steps per week of the challenge to hit 5k in the last week, would be one option. Another would be splitting it up into 3 or 4 walks across the day. I used to hit 5k just from various bits of my commute, if I picked the further bus stop. (That can also be a good way to hide it throughout the day, if the issue is more the shock to your schedule of losing a whole hour. Somehow finding four 10-15 minute blocks is a lot easier.) Basically, have some plans for not burning yourself out on an ambitious goal, and work with where you are. It's a doable goal, for sure, but it's a big shift in where you're spending your time and how much walking you're doing. 3 Quote I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever. Thanks Sara ❤️ news from today below __________________________________________ Hello all 4.30pm here, i am sat on the sofa, Bronze is snoring next to me. Its quite sunny but chilly. I just had a hot shower, and im aching. This morn, around 9am i decided to jump in the car and drive just under 90 mins, to the Peaks. A place called Mam Tor! I did just about 4 miles and hit 10,000 steps .... I ached, my feet hurt, my lungs hurt (!) i pushed myself a lot up hills. My legs were shaky coming down hills etc and almost didnt make it to the car hahaha Bronze pulled a LOT - she pulled me over twice on a steep bit haha 😂 (fell onto grass) But she was good, friendly, explorer. We had a little picnic half way as well ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ xx 4 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Sovalis
What a beautiful place! And way to prove that you absolutely can do long walks, even if they take it out of you a bit! You don’t need to go so hard every day, but it’s nice to know your body can handle it, right? ❤️ I remember the first time I hit 20,000 steps in a day: Dave (back before we started dating) talked me into the longer loop around our Legislature. The regular loop is 4.4 km. He said the longer loop was only another 2 km so I said sure, why not? Sal, it was another 7.5 km. I was dying by the end of it. It was +30C, I was in leather boots, I was hot and miserable and absolutely mincing my steps on feet that did not want to go another step. But I made it home and barely moved for the rest of the night. I was amazed when I could walk normally the next day. And I had clocked over 20,000 steps. I have used that memory many times to remind myself that I can do hard things. And now you have a fabulous adventure to remind you that you can, too. I am so proud of you. ❤️❤️❤️ 4 Quote Past Challenges: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, #9 Current Challenge: #10 Link to comment

Salinger
Morning all. Thanks so much for all the kindness. 9am here and rainy... Slept very well haha im aching this morning, my legs....front of my thigh and my calves mainly. i keep stretching them a bit to try to help. I have a bit of a predicament. Could do with thoughts. Tomorrow is the last day of the exhibition its been 5 weeks open, its gone so so fast. Someone from PARIS is coming to the UK today, and travelling up to view the show tmoro.... which is crazy. I was meant to be there tmoro for the last day, and to meet this person. However two problems. 1) i think my fan belt in the car is on its last legs and im worried to do a long journey. 2) i cant afford to fill my petrol tank up until next Weds... I feel so much guilt and stress inside, this person has travelled a long way, its the least i can do is be there What do yous recon?? ......... Anyway, today. - Take medication - Clean kitchen/wash dishes etc - Second draft of funding app done - Match funding ? - Promote last two days of exhibition on socials - Promote exhibition catalogue for sale - Keep on top of emails - Walk Bronze and reach 5000 steps for the day - Put laundry on and out to dry - Figure out what to do tomorrow - Message mechanic for quote - Dinner?? - Watch England match 8pm and chill Also will need a nap at some point xx 2 Quote Link to comment

As much of a bummer as it is not to be there, I would recommend against risking a car breakdown. Maybe you could do a quick video chat with the person when they get there to welcome them and talk through the exhibit a bit? 2 Quote Current NF Challenge: X “Stay afraid, but do it anyway. Artemis Prime
Hey, Sal, sorry about the dilemma. Car problems stink, and when lack of transportation starts interfering with other things, it really stinks. I agree with those suggesting a phone/video chat to show personalized interest. She was understanding. Thank fully. I ended up driving, just 40 mins to take Roxy and her two friends to the airport. Then popped in to my sisters for a cup of tea and chat. Then home. Made a curry. Eaten. Now lazing about, doing some admin. Im real real tired. And can not WAIT for bed haha so sleepy. Tomorrow, ill wait Bronze, then go pick Roxy up around midday - be there for 1pm when they land. (theyve just gone to Dublin for a gig this eve!) Then clean a bit, do laundry etc. Then a friend from London is up for the weekend, she arrives about 7pm. Sunday is our friends little boys bday (2 yr old) so a little party for him in the eve. Pretty busy. xx 3 Quote Link to comment
