Ranger Hal Takes Action III

I just finished Mistborn last night, the use of colour was interesting in that one, too.

Week 2, Monday
1) Workout: part of Day 52. I started and really wasn't feeling it. There were too many different exercises and they weren't fun and I might have also been just tired. I'm going to move on to the next workout. If I have to come back to this one, there's a better chance that I'll skip working out because I don't want to do this one again.
2) Sleep: 7 hours

3) Time: 9:00 am
4) Hydrate: ~1.75L

Smart to not grind through something that might make you want to give up.

Week 2, Tuesday
1) Workout: skipped because the blood donation people told me not to do anything strenuous and pushups seemed like a bad idea after having a big needle stuck in my arm.
2) Sleep: 7.5 hours

3) Time: 8:45 am
4) Hydrate: ~2L (I was very well hydrated for my blood donation.)

Week 2, Wednesday
1) Workout: skipped because it's way too easy to spike my heart rate right now and make me dizzy and nauseated.
2) Sleep: 7 hours?

3) Time: 8:45 am?
4) Hydrate: ~1.75L

Week 2, Thursday
1) Workout: Day 53 (Level 3) but slowly with an extra breath between each movement to keep my heart rate from going insane. This losing a pint of blood thing is more annoying than I remember.
2) Sleep: 8 hours

3) Time: 8:25 am
4) Hydrate: ~1.5L

Weekend was busy. I'm not going to try to remember it.

Week 3, Monday
1) Workout: Day 54 (Level 2). I got to just about the end of Level 2 before I  started to feel a bit sick and decided that was enough cardio.
2) Sleep: 4 hours. Yeah, I was that into a book. Sigh.

No, but it's a little bit of a story getting to the next book. I finished Secret Project 1 and it was amazing! But I'm also listening to the audiobook of another Sanderson, Skyward. (And at one point, I was also reading one of his shorter stories, so I had three going at once. That was maybe a bit much.) I'm almost done listening to Skyward, so I went to the library to pick up physical books (after reading SP1, I'm kinda excited about reading physical books again!) of the next two books in the series because none of my 5 local library systems have audio versions of those books (totally not cool to only have the first one and not the others). And while I was there, I was skimming through to see if anything else caught my attention and I spotted The Icarus Plot by Timothy Zahn. Years ago, I read The Icarus Hunt and loved it, but it was a standalone novel so that was that. But it turns out 20+ years later, he wrote a sequel. So that's what kept me up most of the night!

Spent a number of hours finishing reading Secret Project #1 book. It is a beautiful book and I love the way the colors are used.

OH!!!! Is this the new book with the pretty green cover?? :) My husband is a HUGE Sanderson fan..... I've only just started reading Mistborn over the past few months and I am really enjoying it.

Tell me, if you had the strength to take another step, could you do it?

Yes! It really is a beautiful book (I have the Kickstarter version) and I love the story as well! I'm glad you're enjoying Mistborn.

YES that’s the one! He also has the Kickstarter one and it came with a really cool sticker of the cover art that I put on my water bottle, and a bookmark!

AND it came with a pin of Vin that I’m over the moon about! 🖤I’m not sure what level he kickstarted at but all the extras are sweet. I can’t wait to actually read it! - after the Mistborn trilogy, and all the other books I have lined up ahaha~

I'm glad you're enjoying the extras! And that you will get a chance to read this version (when you're ready)! The little splashes of color throughout the book are a really fun touch and I'm so glad I got this version instead of one where all the printing is black.

So last week was Holy Week and Sunday was Pascha (Easter) for my church. I was kind of hoping I'd get a bit more challenging done, but I'm not that surprised that it didn't happen. And that's okay. My attention was elsewhere and that's as it should be. Now to pick up and keep going.

1) Workout: Day 55
2) Sleep: N/A

Thanks for checking in! I'm doing pretty well with sleeping and hydrating (except yesterday was a bit low I think). Workouts, not so much. Motivation is pretty low right now and things are kinda just piling up (especially dishes). Food is difficult (why do we have to eat so often? it's a pain) because I haven't been shopping recently, but I did manage to pull together a list, so I'm planning to get that done tonight. I tried to replace the broken zipper slider on a jacket, but the replacement slider is too small (maybe they changed the manufacturing specs at some point in the last 30+ years), so I'm planning to borrow some tiny files and file down the inside so it hopefully works, but that was disappointing because I was hoping it would be a nice quick project. I slept in my room one night earlier this week and woke up with really puffy eyes, so now I'm wondering if I'm allergic to something (possibly dust, given the state of that room) so the whole house could probably use a good cleaning, but again, no motivation. Considering the time of month it is, next week will probably get better (I tend to be a bit down after shark week).

We are also having Seasonally Puffy Eyes in our house... and have also been doing a lot of cleaning and stirring up dust, which surely doesn't help with everything blooming outside. Bleh.

I hope your motivation bumps up a little bit soon and you start feeling better!

I think I'm done with this challenge. It kind of fizzled towards the end. But I got out on a short hike on Sunday and another one on Tuesday, so that's good. The Tuesday hike was a hair slower than I was hoping, but it was a beautiful evening (nice views of the mountain) and I ran into a college classmate near the top which was kind of random and fun.

Food has been annoying. I'm glad I had some jars of lentil soup in the freezer. That helped some. And then I made a big pot of chili yesterday. It turned out pretty decent (although I think I should probably use a bit less tomato sauce).

Considering that there's only one of me but I cook like I'm a whole family (because cooking for one is annoying, like all that work and you only get enough food for one person), it's not uncommon for me to have to freeze some of my food when I can't eat it fast enough before it goes bad. I'm totally expecting to have to throw some of the chili in freezer jars in a few days.

I should be around! (Whether or not I can think up a title for my challenge is another question 😂). I feel like I should put some time into at home practice on rope rescue systems. We did a slightly complicated thing at a recent training and I didn't really get a chance to see everything that was going on because I was also helping one of the new folks on the basic system and I also think it's something that I really need to play around with on my own to get it straight in my mind. And I need to refresh on glacier travel/crevasse rescue stuff because I'm on the waitlist for some glacier climbs this summer and it's been almost two years since I used those skills. Yeah, I think I'll incorporate some of that into next challenge. I think I'm going to need some more pulleys, lol!
