Aaaaaaand I do in fact have diverticulitis. Which is the one where they apparently tell you to avoid nuts and seeds and other small things that could get stuck. Sounds like the antithesis of being vegan. Of course. I do think I saw something recently about how that may not be necessary after all, but whatever. Will be shooting messages off to my pcp, GI, and nutritionist after I get some fucking sleep. It's 7:14 am and I have been in the ER for 11 hours. I'm starving and exhausted and so glad it's Sunday and there shouldn't be traffic on the way home. 
 

Shift change just happened and the nurse said something to me on her way out about a bunch of CT reports getting released before they should have or something. Idk. Whatever.

ironically I'm at one of the best hospitals in the country. I was actually just expecting them to say it was a one-time thing, or I swear once upon a time I heard a nurse or doctor say that even if you're having bowel movements you can still be constipated if there's stuff just not moving in part of your colon? Weird thing to overhear. But I'm sitting here going "yeah that's weird enough to happen to me." Alas, not that benign after all. But it's an answer so now I work with what I have.

Super tl;dr version is some stuff in the colon lining is infected, I guess? They could tell from the CT scan it's only a minor infection so I have to pick up antibiotics later and I should be fine after that. It can happen again in the future or it might not. So lifestyle changes to avoid it again. 
 

im home now and as soon as I got into bed my cat crawled under the covers with me so now I'm going to try to sleep with this warm lump of idiot attached to my leg. This whole thing sucked but I'll take "minor infection that hurts like a mf" over anything more serious.

My father has diverticulitis, it is managable, but yeah, going to be hard with a vegan diet, or honestly, any diet going for less processed food. Nuts and seeds are obvious, though I understand that creamy peanut butter is fine. I think things like brown rice, Quinoa, and popcorn are also problematic.

He was told to avoid, and had some flair ups when he had things he shouldn't have. delayed response, so hard to blame anything specific. I haven't spoke with him in several years, so would definitely go with what your nutritionist says.

Ah gotcha. Wasn't sure of the relationship status there. It's interesting he had flare ups after forbidden foods when there's supposedly no reason for them to be forbidden. Bodies are stupid.

It's 7:40am and I want to die. The electricians will be here shortly to do the upgrading thing, which is great, but the timing of it sucks. No idea how long they're going to be here or when/how long they have to turn off the electricity so right now at least playing video games is not an option. Sleeping is not an option at least for a now since they're putting an outlet in my room and I don't know where that falls in the process. And my brother is a fucking moron, "can we ask them to do the attic first so i can go to bed?" You fucking ask them. I'm sorry you're nocturnal for no actual fucking reason and only had 2 weeks to plan for this but no the world does not revolve around you and I'm not asking people to change how they work just for your comfort.  
 

oh also it's raining. And they have to do stuff on the outside of the house. Not sure how that's going to work. I don't have to know, I'm sure they have a process. But I'm sleep deprived and pissed off so gremlins.

rain stopped so they're doing the outside part now. Power will be out for about two hours and I just realized that sucks balls because now my fan won't work.  It's only 55 but humid af bc of the rain. Oh well. And my father is stuck here the whole time bc he's an idiot who parked in the driveway and then got blocked in when he directed the electricians to park their giant van in the driveway too... but it's their fault? So that's fun. Not sure what he's going to do for two hours since he can't watch Nazi propaganda on YouTube to pass the time. I downloaded some books to read but I'm thinking if they're going to be busy for two hours I might try to accidentally on purpose fall asleep. Probably not though. 
 

anyway. After 3 doses of antibiotics the infection seems to have calmed down. I can take a deep breath without pain again, which is nice. I realized yesterday that as annoying as it is I'm actually really glad there is in fact a reason for all the stomach issues I've been having. I was absolutely getting down on myself assuming it was some combination of bad food choices and bad life choices. And yeah those can contribute but it turns out that overall this isn't my fault. That's helpful. I still need to make better food and life choices though.

For some reason they didn't finish the job today. It was supposed to be upgrade the thing, put a new outlet in my room, and put some lights in the attic. They're coming back tomorrow, presumably at ass o'clock in the morning again, to do the last two things. I'm assuming it was a house issue; when they turned off the power to do the outside stuff they said it would take two hours and it wound up taking four. The guys who came last year also constantly took longer on everything because the construction of the house makes no sense. Like concrete where it's not needed or expected, several unnecessary layers of wood to drill through, all that fun stuff. And I'm just so over all of this bullshit with the house and electricity and every-fucking-thing else. 
 

so if no one could tell, lack of sleep is taking its toll. Four nights in a row I've gotten under five hours of sleep and I'm looking at the same thing tonight. I'm snapping at the cats, I'm snapping at my brother, I'm avoiding my father entirely because I don't need his shit right now, and the stupidest little things have me on the verge of tears. Like the corner of my fitted sheet popped off the mattress and it's the biggest hardship I've ever faced in my life. I have therapy in ~12 hours and she has no idea what she's in for. 
 

I should come up with a challenge. And maybe actually do it this time.

Electricians have been here for 7 hours and are just now finishing up. The problem was indeed the fact that whoever built my house was from another planet; things aren't where they're supposed to be and it's made of fucking vibranium. BUT. I have a shiny new outlet and it's the only thing on that circuit. I can absolutely get an air purifier and I could possibly get a mini fridge, although having both there might be pushing it. Can't put either one in the existing outlets bc even though the house has more power they didn't rewire the circuits so there's still too much on those and I would trip it. Womp. Maybe I'll get one of those little like, 6 pack of soda fridges or something and keep a handful of snacks at a time. Idk the world is my oyster right now.

 

they're done, I have an outlet, and there is blessedly nothing on tap for the rest of the week that I will have to wake up early for. Here we fucking go.

A wild mouse appeared! At least one. Quite possibly two. The cats have been posting up in the kitchen for a while but we hadn't seen any evidence of anything otherwise. And suddenly today my father saw one run by him in the living room and just now I nearly shit myself when I spooked one in the kitchen. Could be the same one. Probably not. I suspect all the banging and drilling and shoving things through walls disturbed them earlier. Hopefully they chill out and disappear again soon before the cats get them. boobcat plays with them til they die, Fat Kitty will eat them... but not always all of them. 🤢And of course the other humans in the house are useless which doesn't help either. Arrrrrrrrgh. 
 

on the positive side, I can get an air purifier! I might actually be able to breathe like a normal person and then sleep better and be more functional! And I don't have to get up early tomorrow. And I have nothing that needs doing, nowhere to go, and there's no one coming to the house. Tomorrow is going to be a great fucking day.

Took a shower. Funny how that helps me feel better. that plus the antibiotics doing their thing and the fact that there's nothing big going on for the rest of the week has me in a much better mood. Looking forward to waking up and not doing a zombie impression and actually getting things done. Not a ton of things and nothing huge, but I basically haven't had the time and/or energy to do anything since Friday night and some things have piled up that I really just want to get done and never have to deal with again. 
 

plan for Thursday:

- continue changing passwords

- consider how to arrange stuff in my room now that I can plug things in in a new spot

- order my goddamn medical records from the DC hospital 

- portion out the comically large package of ground beef I got with my last grocery order and put it in the freezer; maybe cook some if there are spoons

- finish a book that's due soon

- new challenge?

 

Gonna go make my teeth all minty fresh and then pass the fuck out. Woo.

I spent two hours at a Verizon store with my father upgrading his phone and also our plan. I have such a headache. 
 

not cooking any of that meat tonight, will just be chucking it in the freezer. Have been changing passwords while playing my game. Doubt anything else will happen today because I am already waiting for bedtime. Yikes.

Did not cook anything because the headache has not gone away. Ground beef is in the freezer though which is a win for me. 
 

Not a win for me: I'm getting up at 8am to call my brother's health insurance about the lack of adderall. Tonight I called around to see if anyone had what he needs and of course no one does, but the super helpful lady at Walgreens suggested calling and asking for an override to get the brand name instead because there's plenty of that somehow? I told him he'd owe me his fucking soul if I do this. The pharmacist said to be assertive and be prepared to escalate to multiple supervisors and whatever. Which I am. I'm slightly concerned though bc he doesn't have ADD and that's not what it's for, so I'm expecting a fight on that front. Still gonna do what I can but christ am I not looking forward to this. 
 

I'm the only female in this house and somehow also the only one with any balls. What the hell.

Texted my brother to tell him to ask dickhead senior for a ride to the one place in  a ten mile radius that has what he currently takes and if so to call the pharmacy and confirm they still have it, and I'll call his insurance on Monday when there's no rush because I really fucking do not want to wake up tomorrow for it. Unlikely to happen. Even if he does ask there's really no way in hell my father will say yes because he's just an asshole who refuses to be inconvenienced. 
 

mixed emotions here. Part of me is mad that I agreed to this in the first place. Some ridiculous part of me is please with myself for even asking him to try getting my father to do it because look at me saying I don't want to. And as usual part of me is pissed that I moved back here at all when I knew this kind of shit would happen. In this very particular case my brother isn't waiting til the last minute, he does have a few days worth left and is trying to avoid the chaos of the last couple months, and it's not his fault there's a shortage. But of course him trying to do it only involves asking me to do it so yeah I'm bitter. We've come a long way from where we started after my mother died, where he'd say "hey I ran out yesterday can you figure it out for me" when there were adderall supply issues but not nearly this bad. But Jesus Christ make your own phone calls please.

bad news: he also didn't talk to my father about anything. So now there's a chance that he runs out before he gets a new Rx and we go through this whole song and dance a hundred times. I'm going to kill him.

Today is a Monday in spirit. Slept like shit. Reflux on overdrive. Idiots being idiots. Working my way through saved passwords in chrome to delete accounts I don't use anymore and I'm about to kill someone over the ridiculous number of hoops to jump through. MindBodyOnline, which I used once maybe 5 years ago to book that atrocious water yoga class, requires to you download, print, fill out, and email back to them a form with all of your information (separates copies for every single business you've booked with on their site), so that they can get approval from those companies to delete your account. What the actual fucking fuck. I think my blood pressure has set a new record. I seriously just want to punch someone right now. I'm so over everything. I got a salad for dinner and now that it's here I just want something cheesy and fried and terrible for me instead.
