Pick your own version of 'better;' stronger, fitter, healthier, disciplined, able, educated, dependable. Whatever floats your boat. I'm going with disciplined and living in today, each day. I think. At least that's today's feeling. I've had a really good week of sticking to the eating plan I made for myself because I decided I was disciplined enough to do so, not because it was the right thing or the smart thing or I should do it. It seemed to work for me, so I'll try again. Living in today is about not letting the difficult things outside of me overwhelm my thoughts so that I forgot about being in today. I had really good luck with being surprised by something every day last summer and I'm going to reach for that again. It was so good for triggering a self-check and it seems it might be good for recognizing the opposite, that I'm more able to simply live now than I had been, hopefully. On the NE seacoast, so not native. and a cold day Tues: nope Wed: watched a hawk elegantly dodging cars, including mine, while hunting thurs: got kuddos from the head tech dept for problem solving Fri: fun new podcast Sat: how good it feels to have time to work on my projects, just for me Sun: nope. Exp 1: tracked 4 days Exp 2: forgot to floss. Always the flossing that gets me! And I need to write this down so I remember it. MrC has actually done the dishes right when dinner is done. He hasn't waited 'to do them in the morning' and then ignore them. Oh, well. I did have some successes, especially having a day where anger flared badly but I was able to stop myself and reevaluate the situation to see what was really bothering me and have a calm and productive discussion. Phew. hard. On to the good stuff: Mon; the shirt pattern I've been fighting to fit for literal years finally fits! Now to make a real one! Tues; managed to get a haircut appointment at the last minute with my preferred stylist! (chopped off 6 inches and I feel like I've dumped the last of pandemic stress) Wed; a genuine compliment at work regarding my work Thurs; someone didn't notice my dramatic hair change because it looked 'right.' I laughed happily with her about that one Fri; I went in search for a recipe to make for dinner and the first one I saw I had all the ingredients and it fit my Spice club spice. (Pork (with ground coriander) with prunes in a port sauce.) Chesire Posted April 18 Author Report Share Posted April 18 Just a quick drop in to say that patience and communication is winning on the home front. I expressed an issue and MrC came back later to share a plan on how to address it (and a real apology complete with rephrased understanding of the situation.) I'm mostly putting this in writing to strengthen my recognition of the huge leap. A miss-sent text that came through on Sun after I was already in bed was my happy little surprise for that day. A nice way to wrap up the week! I feel like I've suddenly had a leap forward in strength. A nice bit of encouragement after feeling like I was sitting in the same place for way too long. Chesire Posted April 29 Author Report Share Posted April 29 Life is tough guys. I'm struggling with my inner Pinky. Brain has his plans and they mostly happen, but Pinky isn't playing much right now. I'm actually pretty ok in myself, its the outside effect of people around me that are taking up so much of my energy. He has decided therapy is necessary, so I hope my Pinky will make his way back sooner than later. Anyway. I had a quilt retreat weekend and finished my second ever quilt top. It's going to be a shop sample but as I was uninspired to find my own projects it was worth doing on my time. Honestly, I don't know how that is possible but based on the release date I was surrounded by people who didn't game. Don't worry, most of them are gone now. Anyway, I learned about Twilight Princess and was able to source a used copy for Wii online at Goodwill that was listed as 'good' condition. This thing arrived and is pristine! It's like meeting up with an old friend, too. Also, I may* fall of the fitness wagon for a bit. Maybe related to something else... *I won't, the habit is too strong and I feel like crap when I don't.
