Chesire: What are we going to do today, Brain?

Recommended Posts

What we gonna do today Brain? The same thing we do everyday Pinky - Pinky and the Brain - quickmeme

Try to be a little bit better than yesterday.

Pick your own version of 'better;' stronger, fitter, healthier, disciplined, able, educated, dependable.  Whatever floats your boat.

I'm going with disciplined and living in today, each day.  I think.  At least that's today's feeling.

I've had a really good week of sticking to the eating plan I made for myself because I decided I was disciplined enough to do so, not because it was the right thing or the smart thing or I should do it.  It seemed to work for me, so I'll try again.

Living in today is about not letting the difficult things outside of me overwhelm my thoughts so that I forgot about being in today.  I had really good luck with being surprised by something every day last summer and I'm going to reach for that again.

Otherwise, it's the usual goals of fitness, diet, limited alcohol, and personal growth.

I think so, Brain, but burlap chafes me so.

Good grief!  I was so wrapped up in getting my thoughts down for the start of the challenge that I missed the obvious in it!  I have two role-models for my two specific goals.

So I shall be aiming to embrace my inner lab mouse this time, whilst and that the same time as maintaining the good things I've established, aka successful previous experiments.

I'm going to try the point chart again.  It was so good for triggering a self-check and it seems it might be good for recognizing the opposite, that I'm more able to simply live now than I had been, hopefully.

Things I would like to try this time:  Money tracking again and a cleaning plan for MrC and I to divvy and share.

This is big -- behaving as who we are and not who we want to be often means realizing we're more than we gave ourselves credit for. Kudos!

A good first week.

Brain:  I stuck pretty well to my plans each day.  You don't need a full list of what I did or didn't do.

Pinky:  Mon:  saw a pineapple sitting on the seawall.  On the NE seacoast, so not native.  and a cold day

Tues:  nope

Wed: watched a hawk elegantly dodging cars, including mine, while hunting

thurs:  got kuddos from the head tech dept for problem solving

Fri:  fun new podcast

Sat:  how good it feels to have time to work on my projects, just for me

Sun:  nope.

Exp 1:  tracked 4 days

Exp 2: forgot to floss.  Always the flossing that gets me!

And I need to write this down so I remember it.  MrC has actually done the dishes right when dinner is done.  He hasn't waited 'to do them in the morning' and then ignore them.  He hates doing them, but the trade off is he gets to cook or we share both tasks.

31/ 28 weekly pts

It wasn't quite as good a week as last week.  Oh, well.  I did have some successes, especially having a day where anger flared badly but I was able to stop myself and reevaluate the situation to see what was really bothering me and have a calm and productive discussion.  Phew.  hard.

On to the good stuff:

Mon; the shirt pattern I've been fighting to fit for literal years finally fits!  Now to make a real one!

Tues; managed to get a haircut appointment at the last minute with my preferred stylist!  (chopped off 6 inches and I feel like I've dumped the last of pandemic stress)

Wed; a genuine compliment at work regarding my work

Thurs; someone didn't notice my dramatic hair change because it looked 'right.'  I laughed happily with her about that one

Fri; I went in search for a recipe to make for dinner and the first one I saw I had all the ingredients and it fit my Spice club spice.  (Pork (with ground coriander) with prunes in a port sauce.)

Sat; we found a new trail while  walking the dog.

How do the weeks just slip by?  It was a tough one and I guess I just forget to do useful things when I sit at the computer, like tracking calories.

Will edit to add Sunday later.

27/28 week total.  food tracking is annoying.  I also eat the same thing 4 days/ week for breakfast and lunch so I fall short with tracking dinner, but dinner is usually decent.  I'm not worried about the lack of points there.

Pinky life

Wed- surprise cupcake

Thurs- actually getting a refund

Fri- spend the day sewing and I spent some time sitting out in the sun reading

Sun- an wrong person text taught be it was national bat day!  🦇

I love the combo of your haircut going well, and the style working so well for you that you got an awesome compliment for it. 😍

Just a quick drop in to say that patience and communication is winning on the home front.  I expressed an issue and MrC came back later to share a plan on how to address it (and a real apology complete with rephrased understanding of the situation.)  I'm mostly putting this in writing to strengthen my recognition of the huge leap.

A miss-sent text that came through on Sun after I was already in bed was my happy little surprise for that day.  A nice way to wrap up the week!

I feel like I've suddenly had a leap forward in strength.  A nice bit of encouragement after feeling like I was sitting in the same place for way too long.  I get to do fun stuff now like progressing toward handstands!

Life is tough guys.  I'm struggling with my inner Pinky.  Brain has his plans and they mostly happen, but Pinky isn't playing much right now.  I'm actually pretty ok in myself, its the outside effect of people around me that are taking up so much of my energy.  He has decided therapy is necessary, so I hope my Pinky will make his way back sooner than later.

Anyway.  I had a quilt retreat weekend and finished my second ever quilt top.  It's going to be a shop sample but as I was uninspired to find my own projects it was worth doing on my time.    So many half square triangles!153592161_mightystars.thumb.jpg.8dcf9bf16878808f880861d9a65f28d6.jpg

Something last week led to me realizing there was a Zelda game I didn't know about.  Honestly, I don't know how that is possible but based on the release date I was surrounded by people who didn't game.  Don't worry, most of them are gone now.  Anyway, I learned about Twilight Princess and was able to source a used copy for Wii online at Goodwill that was listed as 'good' condition.  This thing arrived and is pristine!  It's like meeting up with an old friend, too.

Also, I may* fall of the fitness wagon for a bit.  Maybe related to something else...

*I won't, the habit is too strong and I feel like crap when I don't.  But housecleaning is a different story

Totally acceptable, as if you needed permission.

As you probably know by now,  you'll get zero side-eye from me re:  housecleaning. That habit  is relative to the rest of life.

What a cool Goodwill online find! I have looked but haven't bought anything yet.
