Silmarilliane's Thirty-second Challenge

Recommended Posts

Good afternoon! I hope you're all well :)

Last challenge went well and Ievelled up, hooray! I don't quite have the mental capacity to change things up right now, and have a very busy April with singing competitions and away-weekends, so I'm going to stick with the tried and tested 'keep on track the days I don't have overeaty/drinky days' as well as attempting to get some exercise in as well. We're also in a weird state having a temporary office at work so I'm going to be mostly working from home despite knowing this isn't great for my mental health, but I don't want to trek loads of stuff back and forth because I have no locker until our new office is ready.

Standard challenge points:

FOOD

  • Under 1600 calories for the day = 10pts
  • Overeating one meal = 0pts
  • Overeaty nonsense = -10pts

Maximum = 420pts

SLEEP & PHONE

  • No phone scrolling before bed = 10pts
  • Spending more than 30mins on Instagram in a day = -5pts

Maximum = 420pts

EXERCISE

  • Walking 30mins per day = 10pts (switching from distance so I can adjust based on situation/how my hip feels)
  • Home weights/youtube workout/cycling = 5pts (scored for first three per week)
  • Missing physio 3x per week = -10pts

Maximum = 510pts

Total maximum points = 1350pts

Again going low on passing grade as I know I've got a lot of stuff coming up, 810pts needed to successfully pass but will again aim for 1000+ if I can.

UPDATE AFTER BEING ILL FOR A WEEK: 650pts needed to pass!

Over-calorie likely days:

26/03/2023: Yes today... going out for someone's birthday dinner at 9am in Dishoom... I've been sensible so far at least!

30/03/2023: Boardgame peeps pub crawl

01/04/2023: Museum day, hopefully will stay in calories but may go for dinner after

02/04/2023: Palm Sunday (niece singing) with two quartet rehearsals, so unless I pack food, it'll be tough

09/04/2023: Easter family meal

13/04/2023-16/04/2023: Spain singing competition, suspect much food and booze

22/04/2023: Mum's birthday meal

28/04/2023-29/04/2023: Singing weekend away

I'm aware that there are a lot of days I have nothing on in the evenings and I'm likely to fill those ups, as is my wont. Hopefully they won't all be crazy eaty but who knows...

Yay Spain! It's coming around scarily fast and I've only written a preliminary pack list!

So the challenge is going I guess kind of OK after one day... I did my physio, went for a walk, and ate sensibly until I went for the late late dinner - that was a lot of tasty food and obv didn't calorie count. I very nearly missed the last train, and even catching it I didn't get home until nearly 1am. Then lay awake for no reason until gone 3am - I don't know if it's because of the clock change and a lie in, or just general mind spiralling/overthinking, but today has been a struggle.

I did manage to go for a half hour muddy walk today (in wellies) but haven't had chance to physio or extra exercise - hopefully I'll have enough energy to do my weights at least.

I am sorry that the day was a struggle. I hope the time change doesn’t mess you up for too long; it took me a week to adjust to ours this year and I was so over it by the end.

Thanks :D and yes! Very excited for it, competing in quartet and chorus, woo! It's mainly resort staying so I imagine most of the eating will be buffet (and likely much beige haha!)

Thanks, I slept better last night, but still kinda tired - at least I did my run and pilates before work. Hoping after a few days it'll resolve, but I also have things on every evening this week in central London so getting home late is definitely going to not help...

Managed to get my weights done before pilates, woop! Didn't do physio as I was sewing pockets into trousers in a slump while watching Superstore (and then obv went to bed later than planned hence still sleepy). I can feel the phone-time creeping back seeing as I wasn't challenge-y last week and not actively stopping myself - I did a bit of dating app stuff mainly because I've had a break from it the last week or two and wanted to see what was going on (largely not a lot!)

Always the pockets :D though this should be the last pair of trousers for a while - I'm not going to buy any 'new' (charity shop) clothes for a while as I need to have a clear out first! I tend to do the little things, but have made a dress copying one that fit at the time (promptly put on weight, never wore it, and now it's not really my style), and I've done a few 'half n halfs' where I take a dress and a top and combine them into a new dress - I have relatively big boobs for my size so dresses never really fit properly unless they're stretchy. I am going to a dungaree workshop next month though which I'm very excited for, and have some nice grey/blue tartan off ebay for them. Will share pics when I'm done!

It was a bit weird wfh yesterday as I usually go to the office because singing in the evening. I popped to a friend's at lunch for some sociability which was lovely, but as I drove and that was my break, I had to get off the tube early to singing to get the walking in! Also, I decided to make my dinner to eat on the way rather than buy something, as I had a bunch of veg at home going past its best, and crazily I took a chocolate bar for snacks as my calories were quite under, but forgot to eat it. I got home and decided I should eat a creme egg instead, but then convinced myself I didn't actually need it as I wasn't hungry and it was already 10pm! I did 4/6 physio exercises, as two involve using bands/bench in the front room so I can't sneakily do it when I'm listening on a call(!) and I was hoping to cycle to my friend's but it was peeing down, and that's no fun.

Dungaree workshop sounds amazing!!! I also know the pain of things that don't fit, but in my case it's the waist and hips of trousers. They're all made with a 10 inch difference, which is about 3 inches too little.

I do love corduroy but unfortunately as my legs rub together when I walk, and as I walk fast, I'm likely to start a bush fire ;)

Wfh again and went to see my friend's show in the evening which was great, but another late night (and tonight will be too!) - got the walking in and calories under, but tonight is pizza and beers with the boardgame group so that'll be over calories. I've been sensible so far today though and went for a cycle, even braving the road for the first time in ages! Also managed to catch it when it was gloriously sunny and the first drops of rain only started as I was putting the bike away (which became a downpour shortly after...)

I did do my physio yesterday, including the two other-room ones when I got home, but I twinged something in my hip on yesterday morning's run, so am going to mix up the physio with the GMB hip stretching routine, and probably will skip running the rest of this week.

Game group meet up was great fun though many beers and home late equals sleepy and a bit hungover this morning... Had pizza as well as the beers so definitely over calories, but got that cycle in, did the walking and avoided socials on the phone when I got home. I'm surprised that I have been sensible food-wise today with the hanging, but I've also been in back to back meetings all day so have had no chance at all to go for a walk or do anything else.

This is so relatable, though I haven't modified a lot of clothing. And I almost did make a duplicate of a blouse I liked, but I put on weight and let go of the shirt before I could figure out how to even do that. 🤔

Quick update for yesterday - Tate modern exhibition was ok but nothing special. Got a paneer wrap for dinner which potentially put me over calories but possibly by not much and I didn't eat anything else after so will take that as a success. I did do a bunch of phone playing when I got home - not in bed but still wasn't necessary as I was lacking sleep. Did plenty of walking I think despite not actually having a break in the day, and did get my physio in.

Ok, going to do today's update now as I have as busy day tomorrow - church to watch my niece sing then an arvo quartet rehearsal and an evening different quartet rehearsal!

I went to the science museum sci-fi exhibition today with some pals, was interesting and I definitely need to watch some more classic sci-fi stuff...! Went to a pub after and shared a cheese platter and had some beer, but the beer got spilled on my plate (and leg) so even by normal standards the calorie counting was hard! I don't think I've gone over and I had a crumpet at home but nothing else so will count it as a win. Kind of lonely evening so far, I think amplified by the dating apps going crazy slow lately, but I'm going to play a bit of botw I think, which will also stop me snacking! Hopefully I go to bed at a sensible time and just do a bit of reading - it'll be nice for me to be in with the cat as I'll be pretty much out all day tomorrow 🐈‍⬛
