Silmarilliane's Thirty-second Challenge

Recommended Posts

Long day yester but really productive - the niece didn't sing as she was too nervous, but there was a donkey at the service (obv) and got to chat to a few people. Had a look through some charity shops then headed to quartet rehearsal #1 - the first time we've all four sung together which was awesome, and sounding really good! Then got the tube into town for quartet rehearsal #2, via getting a burrito for dinner. Also sounding really good - this is the one competing in a couple of weeks (which is coming round so quickly!) I counted calories as much as I could (even to the number of pringles and chocolate fingers I ate!) but no idea how much the burrito would have been, and I got home needing a bit of a sit down and had a creme egg. I don't think I'll count this as overeating or splurging, though will knock it down to 5pts. No extra exercise or physio but I did get a decent amount of walking in. Hopefully going to get a cycle in at lunch today and then walking to meet a friend for dinner after work.

Yesterday: 🚶‍♀️10pts 🌯 5pts 📵 10pts

Bleh, getting a cold and office day today* and although I did have to bring a bunch of stuff (forgot teabags, sad face), it's nice having the team together and having an easy docking station finally. Very much looking forward to the new office in June where we have two screens too!

Wfh yesterday and was going out for a meal in the eve, so I ate sensibly until the arvo where I started to feel a bit cold-y and so ate a creme egg to cheer me up, and then a giant crumpet to tide me over until dinner time. I don't think that counts as a full overeaty day though, and today I'm doing my usual Tuesday office food but bought an innocent smoothie partly because vitamins, partly as I don't have a water bottle while we're locker-less. I don't have the energy to calorie count today, but imagine that will tip me over maybe 100 cals which I'm not overly worried about.

I did manage to get a cycle in at lunch yester, and do my weight routine and physio in advance of the meal, so that's good, and also evaded the phone scrolling before bed, woop!

Spoiler

It's a point of slight weirdness when it's office day if you're unwell you take a sick day rather than wfh, as "if you're well enough to wfh, you're well enough to come in" which is questionable but not my rules, and I have singing dress rehearsal this eve (will wear a mask) so always feel cheeky taking a day off sick and then doing things in the eve...

Odd policy. I'd go the opposite route: if you're the least bit unwell, work from home so there's less chance of infecting anyone else at the office.

Sick days are for when you're too unwell to even work from home...

Yeah, me too - the team are in a weird place where there's no standardisation on having to be on site, so there's contention around not going on site for the days you're supposed to be in. I should really have stayed home, but when I got up on the day I didn't feel that bad 🤔

Thanks - I'll definitely remember them next time!

I've actually been off sick yesterday and now today too - I haven't actually taken a sick day since I had covid this time last year (I did a test and negative) and don't remember the last time I had more than one day off for a cold :( I'll do point scoring but yesterday followed the 'feed a cold/starve a fever' thing which is probably not accurate, but I wanted food that was filling and easy. I'll probably pop to the shop today to get some veggie soup or something. Tuesday I ate mainly well apart from having fruit juice and did a lot of walking and no phone-ing. Yesterday I didn't leave the house and overate, but ill so I'm not marking myself down.

Thanks! Yes this morning I messaged my boss at ~8am saying I didn't think I was well still and suspected I needed more sleep. Closed my eyes, opened them and it was 10:15 :D However, it's now 1am and I'm still awake... at least it's a bank holiday tomorrow and I have no plans but to keep resting up!

Managed to take that walk to the shop yesterday and although I was up late, it wasn't so much on the phone but laptop after virtual boardgames. Very glad I had that as a social thing as it's been a couple of days without human interaction! My friend also called a bit earlier in the evening so I realised how little I'd spoken to anyone 😅 (think puppy when the human gets home!)

I didn't calorie count but I'm ok with that while I'm ill. Also haven't had the presence of mind to do my physio so I want to get that done today.

I'm also aware it's Easter weekend now where Sunday will be family day (overeaty) and I'm off to Spain on Thursday next week, so will be aiming to be sensible with food at least Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday despite Monday being a bank holiday.

Quicky update for yesterday - mainly at home as still ill but popped to take things to the charity shop and enjoy the sunshine. Crazy to be wearing shorts and t-shirt when it was snowing a few weeks ago! Currently on the tube to meet a friend to get my dungaree pattern so I'm wearing my short dungarees bcuz why not. I also practiced curling my hair for Spain so feel I'm dressed fully as a child right now, but what else am I to do to cope with turning 40 in a few months?! I am feeling a bit bleh from eating largely crap over the last few days so need to get some veggies today. I did manage to get myself to do my physio but no extra exercise unless you count a second walk because it was so warm out.

Thanks - it's lovely to get some sunshine but this cold is really taking its sweet time 😐

I had a busyish day Saturday - the fabric shopping was good, got a couple of things in charity shops and got some noodle soup for lunch. Had quartet rehearsal for Spain though was still all bunged up (sang in a mask) and got a veggie pizza with them after. I did a lot of walking, can't remember about the phone but these last few days have felt quite write-off-y. Yesterday I went to the parents for family meal, and did a very short walk in the morning but had a headache from not enough sleep (much coughing, bleh). Cleared the headache a bit with some painkillers and had roast dinner and chocolate and general hangouts with the fam and niblings. Started feeling rough again and the headache came back with a vengeance - went home about 6pm and got on the sofa with a blanket and lap cat for a bit until I gave up and went to bed at 9pm. Put Superstore on from the start to listen to (only just finished it and loved it!) and dozed on and off until I figured I should go to bed properly, and other than getting up to feed the cat and wee, I was in bed until like 11am... Obv now worried I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight and have to work tomorrow (at least from home).

I haven't been ill for ages, and the combination of it lasting ages, living alone (so no one will make me a morning tea or dinner) and not really having any social interaction means I'm fully wallowing in self-pity 😶

I'm aware I've basically clocked even for the last few days, but I'm not going to feel too bad about it because ill. I think I might ignore this week and treat the final score as if it was for 4 weeks instead of 5, otherwise there won't be much reason to keep on track for the rest of it...

Well unfortunately it's quite a manual process... Signature editing is in Account Settings, and then I just type the number and add a hyperlink on it by copy+paste. Curly hair is also for adults, surely? And dungarees sound more fashionable and grownup if we call them jumpsuits. High fashion, that is.

I think as a straight-haired person, curling my hair usually makes me feel like when I was a kid with the crimpers :D and they were definitely dungarees (light blue denim) but I'll take that I'm high fashion ;)

I got the tickle of the start of a cold on Monday night last week and then the getting snotty/bunged up on Tuesday so it's been a week. Which is not a long time in general terms, but is when it takes out a four day bank holiday weekend :D I was going through so many tissues I switched to using hankies which are a little softer and can be washed. I feel so old 🙃

I figured you used the term "dungarees" because of it being a dialect thing. I'd call them overalls, and they are a good look when done right. Unfortunately, most of the people that wear them in southern/midwest US are rednecks and hillbillies. 🤠

Yes, I think exactly this - generally in the UK dunagrees are worn by kids and pregnant peoples (I guess good for expanding bellies) but obv with 'kids these days' anything goes so they're becoming more prevalent. I did a google search to see if there was a massive difference, as I'd use overalls for button up heavy duty onesie and dunagrees would specifically have thin straps over the shoulder to button/clip onto a chest panel. I found this pic example of the things I'd call dungarees, and obv these are the only poses you're allowed to do when wearing them :D

Yeah, I get where you're going with that. That image is exactly what I'd call overalls (and I totally get the putting kids in them deal - probably because it's the easiest way to keep the pants from falling down all the time as well as the easiest clothes to resize thanks to the buckle strap).

The heavy duty onesie you'd call overalls is what I would call cover-alls, which is the only way we distinguish between the latch hook straps and a thing with sleeves and a long zipper. My example managed to look just a little more awkward than yours. 😂 Thanks for the laugh.

OK, what happened yesterday... oh yeah, much sleep (obv needed it) and as I was still quite wiped out I didn't count calories, but did dye my hair for Spain (dark blue on top, pink/two shades of purple underneath) and then the ex came round to do final exchange of things that got missed. Nice to see him and he suggested watching the last series of Mrs Maisel together which I might do (def still think it's best to not be together but I'm sure we'll stay in touch). I went for a nice slow walk in my wellies over the field and remembered that it was Monday so did my weights and then physio last thing before bed (as I'm only home a few days this week and don't want it to fall massively by the wayside). A friend phoned for a chat which was nice, and thankfully I was able to sleep last night despite the long sleep the night before. I have realised I didn't do three lots of physio last week so should be -10pts on that, but I'm not beating myself up about it and did four lots the week before, so will just make sure I'm on it going forwards.

Still have that shadow headache and a bit croaky/cough-y which is very annoying... managed to go to rehearsal yesterday after work and the church was filled with lilies, which I'm allergic to! Thankfully they were far enough away but I still started feeling the scratch in the throat by the time we left, so I did a bit of outside walking before getting on the tube to try and clear it. I did also manage a cycle in the day as well as the walking which is good. I counted calories (at least, I ate the standard food I always have when I'm working) but someone brought krispy kremes which were going to waste so I had one and a half... I did find a place close to the rehearsal venue that does a decent falafel wrap though so that was a good find! I did also do my physio yesterday and have done nearly all the exercises today - I've also done eating well so far, but had a right mare of a day so I've just melted a caramel egg in some milk with salt and essentially drank it :D

Actually, I have just put in all my food for today (I think) and I'm on 56 calories remaining... hmm. I should really stop eating now, so I'm glad I did that.
