I am so glad I don’t have any environmental allergies like that. Just celery, of all the benign things. I am glad that you weren’t super close to the lilies and that it passed okay. 

 

I am excited for you to go to Spain! I think you are going to have a great time! I agree, estimate as best you can, but most importantly, enjoy yourself.

Celery is meh anyway haha, though I imagine it's annoying to check as it'll be added to a lot of things...

 

Quick update for yesterday - I stayed in calories but remembered I had a yoghurt too, ah well. I didn't eat anything else after I realised so I'll take that as a win. Got the walk and physio done and I kinda did check my phone after bed, but that's bcuz I couldn't sleep so played a couple of nonograms to chill out a bit so I won't negatively count it.

Much food (mmm paella) lots of walking and I did go on my phone but it was uploading Spain photos so I'll give myself half points! Also swam in the sea so will count that as extra exercise despite being mostly floating 😅

Catching up a bit - and will talk about the foods but need to be quickish as I'm going into the office tomorrow so should go to bed soon!

 

So we were in Spain for a singing competition - my quartet on Friday and the chorus on Saturday. Chorus came second, woo! We're very pleased with our score and how well we sang. The quartet was mid-table, and we're definitely happy with the score we got, especially as we only had three proper rehearsals (they were old chorus songs at least so it was a brush off and then work on timing, breaths and performance). We were staying at a hotel that had an indoor and outdoor pool, and spa (but you had to pay for that), and buffet breakfast and dinner but no lunch. Also, REALLY not great options for a veggie (all of the salads had either ham, tuna or crab in!) so that second evening a couple of us decided to just go somewhere by the beach and pay for dinner, firstly so we could eat before 7:30pm and secondly to have something nice! It was sooo good - came in one of those massive pans to share and had a great selection of veg and butterbeans. I also got a plate of manchego to myself but saved some for the next day as it was a lot! There was a lot of sangria as well, though I don't usually drink wine - when in Spain, right?

As I don't really eat breakfast, I used the breakfast time to drink a LOT of cups of coffee (at home I usually have it in a pint mug!) and make some cheese rolls for lunch, though yesterday morning I had actual breakfast as I'd had ~4hrs sleep after staying up late singing with people and chatting ❤️ All in all it was such a lovely weekend away, and the temperature was pretty perfect - hot enough for shorts and sandals, with a jumper in the evenings, but not so hot you can't do anything. The sea was also that cold-when-you-get-in but so refreshing once you've been in a few minutes.

I took today off work and had a lie in, and a weigh in (very high today which I suspect is a combination of overeating for being ill plus Spain, but likely also water retention from the high salt content of a lot of recent foods - I got a Chinese takeaway when I got back yesterday). I did then cut the grass, do the washing, finally call a broker about sorting my mortgage, did my physio and met a local friend for a walk (I cycled to her too). I then had pilates, did my weights afterwards and packed my bag for tomorrow. What a ridiculous amount of stuff to do on a day off 😅

 

Saturday: 🚶‍♀️10pts 📵 5pts (again half points for chorus socials)🍷🥔 -10pts

Yesterday: 🚶‍♀️10pts 📵 10pts 🍜🍫 -10pts

Total: 425pts

 

I'm quite glad I weighed in this morning as I was thinking of just eating whatever as it was still a day of annual leave and I had leftover takeaway, but that made me realise that I really didn't need to. I did estimate the leftovers but I've got good enough I think at that over the years for me to allow it! I should be good for calorie counting at least until Friday evening where I'm getting dinner with friends before a show - I'm glad I've got a few days I can get myself back on track in a row.

Also I've really found I have zero interest in the dating apps this last couple of weeks, first being ill and then so busy - those I have been messaging seem to either call me sweetie/beautiful (as a noun) when I've not even met them 🤢 or live on the other side of London which just feels like effort right now...

I feel you about getting back on the horse. I was away over the weekend and trying to rejoin my good habits today wasn’t as successful as I’d prefer. But tomorrow is a new day and I will get even better then. ;) 

 

Sorry that the dating apps are less than enjoyable lately. I haven’t used them much but found them very alienating when I did try. You’re very brave to test those waters!

Thanks! Yes, and absolutely what I needed - the UK is very indecisive weather-wise of late, so it was nice just having a few days of warm and sunny.

Yay! And today is going sensibly calorie-wise, though we are going to the pub after half-rehearsal today to discuss the weekend fun, and it's a place with really fancy beer... I've put in all my calories for the day and I've got ~130 left, which might be enough for a third of fancy beer....

So I was successful counting calories yesterday and had that nice 'not feeling really full of crap food' when I went to sleep and when I woke up today. I think I mentioned the other things I did, obv no extra exercise today but a nice load of walking as I'm in the office and walking to singing.

Hmm, so I just had a bit of confusion about how much through this challenge we are and we're on the last week - aware I'm not going to get anywhere near the 800+pts I was aiming for but I did say I was going to take off a week for being ill. That would put the passing grade at 648 which I'm not sure is actually doable...

Quick maths - if I do walking/phone/food all the remaining days, I'm ~35pts short which is seven extra things of exercise :D and then if I go into the office Friday, I won't be able to do any that day, plus will definitely not be able to overeat dinner unless I put an extra extra two exercises in... gees.

OH I'M REALLY STUPID - there's another week after this week :D I did just go back and count up and was excited that I'd missed 10pts for not checking my phone at some point, but then last week I miscounted and added 10pts I shouldn't have haha.

 

Either way, I think I still need to keep as much on track with the walking and not checking phone every day, as well as trying to get as much exercise in as I can, because I do have a birthday meal Sunday. theatre next week Wednesday, and going away Friday/Saturday next week and I don't know what the food deal is yet.

Thanks - I then did just sit scrolling on my phone for 15mins before bed just because I hadn't checked socials in the day (and convinced myself that I was just checking the singing group's messages... I wasn't)

So yes, stupidly was on my phone and although it was a quick scroll, it was not needed and could have waited for today. Office day so lots of walking, and although I went to the pub I had a lime and soda instead of the beer as I panicked at the bar trying to work out calories... I did try a couple of people's beers though as it was a lovely craft beer place and their beers are YUM. Someone also had chips left over and offered them out (with one of the best mayos) and I resisted!

I've already done a cycle today and will get the walking and physio in - I think I might do an exercise vid as well after work as it's been a while and I don't have anything on this eve.

The day got away with me a bit yesterday, so only managed to get the walk in after dinner and didn't do the exercise video. I then played some BotW until it got late and then realised I hadn't done my physio, so I HAVE to do it today! Stayed in calories and didn't phone scroll.

Just edited yesterday's post as I did a cycle - have done one today as well, and got one in yesterday! I WILL pass this challenge! I did get my physio in, even though the last two 'need equipment' ones only occurred to me just before bed so I had to quickly do them then - I need to do those two again today before I head out this evening. I'm going to see this tonight and we're getting wagamama beforehand, so that'll definitely be over calories - I can't believe I used to frequently get the katsu curry which is 1200 alone, and with gyoza and a fresh juice... definitely a day's worth of calories right there! I'll likely get ramen today as it's slightly better calorie-wise, but I've been eating sensibly/my normal wfh eating so far today.

OH - just looked at the wagz menu and the yasai gyoza ramen is only 554cals so actually would keep me in calories. I'm not going to be drinking anyway as I'll drive to the station this end so won't feel like I'm missing out on a bunch of beers by staying under either!
