Silmarilliane's thirty-eighth challenge

So I believe this challenge runs Sunday 3rd to Saturday 23rd December, which is good for general keeping on track-ish during the festivenesstimes. Just going to note down the Things That Will Be Overfooding so I can have a think about how to approach this challenge :) (dates in UK format!)

 

03/12/2023: Starting strong being in Munich for the Christmas markets, will attempt to be sensible, but...

04/12/2023: Still in Munich and flying back

07/12/2023: Daði Freyr gig, might go for dinner before and maybe have a drink or two

10/12/2023: LoTR marathon day with a mate - likely will order food and maybe have some drinks

Added: 12/12/2023: Chorus Christmas meal

14/12/2023: Work Christmas do

16/12/2023: Chorus winter concert - all day and drinks after

17/12/2023: Famalam cousins meet up, takeaway likely

20/12/2023: IRL boardgames, likely boozy

21/12/2023: Theatre-ing, may get dinner beforehand

I also have at least four free evenings and a bunch of mates to meet up with so think those dates will likely add to this list.

 

My last challenge focused on food, exercise and sleep. I definitely want to keep getting in as much exercise as I can to somewhat balance out the overfooding. Sleep may be a bit more difficult, but will still try and go for as much consistency as I can I think.

Tuesday already! I had a lovely time in HANNOVER - flight to Munich was cancelled because snow, but as we had a package holiday they rebooked us for Hannover with a flight out a few hours later and returning similar, so yes, Christmas Markets but slightly less Bavarian! It was about 5 degrees warmer too, but still had snow, and we did a lot of walking and a lot of food/drink tasting. I can't really be bothered to work out points and the like so I'm just going to say non-scoring plus or minus and start today! Will write up my goals shortly...

Following my standard for the year which seems to have done me well, and I don't have the brain capacity to mix things up too much! I weighed in today at 11stone which I'm happy with following the weekend away - my goal is to stay around this by the end of the year.

 

FOOD

  • Under 1600 calories for the day = 10pts
  • Overeating one meal = 0pts
  • Overfooding all day = -10pts

Maximum = 210pts

 

SLEEP

  • In bed by 10:30 with lights off at 11pm = 10pts

Maximum = 210pts

 

EXERCISE

  • Morning run, pilates & supermans = 5pts
  • Remembering to do my physio = 5pts (makes it easier than 'at least 3x a week minus points')
  • Home weights/cycling/unspecified other exercise of at least 10mins = 5pts

Maximum indefinite but let's say 100pts

 

So maximum is around 520pts, and with already missing two days for Hannover as well as at least 40% of days involving overfooding which would be 300pts but because Christmas I'm going to go 250pts pass mark. Wish me luck!

Was nice to calorie count again yester after all the semi-gluttony - wfh because of the late getting back and skipped the morning run for the same. I did do my physio and managed to catch up with weights and a walk to the shops at lunch (effective lunching!)

I did a bit of quartet rehearsing after chorus so didn't get home til nearly 11pm and then started reading a new book I got - the person I went to Germany with was reading it and it looked like exactly my kinda book! It did mean I was reading until gone midnight, so def not asleep at a sensible time but ah well.

I read an earlier edition and thought it was great. Glad to see it's still relevant and getting solid updates!!

I was thinking last night how I wish I'd been aware of it about 20 or so years ago, would have probably helped a lot of my hangups... I like that it's getting the updates too - the start does say that it's only relevant to 'now' and is accepting that things will change and progress ❤️

Wfh again yester so I'm glad I'm in the office today - going to see Daði Freyr this evening ❤️ and am probably going to grab some dinner on route so will likely be a 'overeating one meal' day. I did my run et al yesterday morning and some poi at lunch as well as the physio. I was going to do walking up to a governor meeting I had (around a mile away) but I got caught up with computer stuff so drove. Just about got in bed on time as I was reading the book some more - SUPER interesting and yes, would recommend. I have to say I had a little flick through to some specific sections I thought might come in handy (pun not intended :D) but it's such a massive book I think it'll take a while to get through it all.

We did actually ask about Berlin but it would have been much more expensive whereas this was near enough like for like :) I still found somewhere selling pretzels at least!

Officey yesterday and there were a lot of doughnuts and cake which I did not partake in until later in the afternoon, so I'm taking that as a win - I got a 'margarita and margarita' deal at the pub before the gig, had another cocktail and a couple of drinks but I expected that. I did the morning run, and standard commuting walking but no physio or other exercise, unless you count dancing at the gig! If there was a club that exclusively played Daði Freyr music I would be THERE. Obv home late as it was in west London and I'm north and then read some more of my book because it's good! One thing I have noticed though that probably needs an update is the assumption that people with certain parts = man or woman.

Based on my 250pt pass mark I need to be ~85pts by the end of the week so I feel good that I'm on track so far, and can hopefully get a little ahead as I imagine at least the week before Christmas will be primarily late nights and overfooding...

Quick for yester as well as today is LotR marathon day! Already on disc 1 of two towers 😃

Spent the day at a friend's 😏 then singing a gig in the eve - counted calories close enough and got to bed on time. Did a little bit of walking as well.

Yes, neither of us had watched them for years!

 

Ugh, day has GONE again... where is time?! Thankfully I got a small amount of life admin done - ordered Christmas presents for the team, phoned to start getting my front door sorted etc. Yesterday is an easy write up - almost 100% sitting watching LotR and ordered pizza, drank beer and baileys and had a few snacks.
