Looking good with them there green ticks. I have a question about tattoos. Do the coloured ones fade a lot?

Loving the discussion on monster fuckers and I wish I was Xanatos enough to have engineered it!

I think I usually engage monster fucker tropes as extended metaphors for handling miscegenation and perverse bodies. An acceptable body is white/straight/cis/not disabled/young and wealthy. Cartoons are so helpful in illustrating by exaggeration the boundaries of good and bad bodies

Notice we’re at a zero on the monster fucker scale with the pic above, both couples conscientiously represented as zero degrees of otherness in their white wedding. But when we pivot to the topic of monster fuckery below, we see our same white cis het hero reject the penetrating black ooze that was corrupting his aryan purity.

Venom wasn’t supposed to an anti-hero or a sympathetic villain, but us fans recognized a fellow perverse body - fat / queer / black/  effeminate / disabled / brown / low-income / trans / elderly -  all of us deviants from the aryan purity standard.

image.thumb.jpeg.4dfc3578fe5169a4b667c9f62f5492f2.jpeg
Once we’ve used Venom and spiderman as a vocabulary of monster fucker as a metaphor for celebrating diverse bodies, do we need to say anything more to understand our main characters on gargoyles?

Weirdly, in my experience with melanin impaired skin and 45th latitude summers, black tattoo ink fades more noticeably. Liam has a gorgeous floral abstract on his left shoulder, and I have the Ghallanda greater dragonmark from below on my right forearm - both look  crisp and as if we got them 30 days ago. The monochrome black piece I got 13 months ago, it's already a medium-dark gray. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting, good to know. Yeah the black tattoos after time look a bit bluish to me as they fade.

You guys have the best tattoos. Dragonmarks make for very cool tatoo choices, makes me wish id played eberron slightly just for good tatoo options 😆

  • Killing my art goal for the month and clicking into satisficing mode with habits, because we jut got our offer accepted on the Polish flat in South Milwaukee. Now we enter into a flurry of packing and planning before a restful getaway on 5/22-6/1, a closing on 6/8, a move on 6/9, listing our current Racine unit for renter move-in on 6/15, and listing the basement apartment in Polonia for move-in on 6/15. Offer is contingent on the home inspection and there's a few possible dealbreakers, but I'm pretty comfortable with the process at this point. Pics in the spoiler below, our biggest argument we're all having with ourselves is whether we turn the sundrenched front room labeled "dining room" into an office/library.

It was an obsession of mine when the setting was dropping in 2003-2004. Shifters, magical tattoo's, steampunk and moral ambiguity - I'm in. Any house especially appeal to you?

The pedant in me (which is just me tbh) thoroughly appreciates that you described this as a grotesque and not a gargoyle.

Congratulations on the new house! It looks great, fingers crossed everything goes smoothly with the survey. Are you planning to rent out the basement floor, or living in the whole thing?

Just the larger upper. The plan is to slowly accrue several, each time living in half and offering the rented portion at 75% - 90% of market rates. Fingers crossed your NHS doesn't privatize, but with most US social safety nets privatized, it's appearing less and less likely that working class Americans Millennials will have adequate medical care or housing by retirement age, so, weirdness ensues. 🤷‍♂️

Loving every part of this challenge.  Following!

A few photos of our time in Rouen, France last summer.

The first is of gargoyles on one of the Cathedrals in Rouen. I don’t remember which one as there were a few.  The second are photos of the necropolis. Kinda cool but not as cool as the Catacombs in Paris.

        • Access to pool
        • Access to racquetball courts (at other locations)
        • $28.33/mo
        • Membership supports community programs like summer camps, youth athletics, senior daytime activities,  in-school breakfasts, all kinds of good shit
  • We decided that we're cool warehousing furniture in the Racine attic. The living spaces in Polonia is smaller and that means we have to thrift different couches, trade the dinning room table for a small kitchen table, and quite a few other swaps. Meanwhile, the larger decent pieces from Racine are going into the attic to be possibly re-used in the next house, or the one after that.
