Oh I love little plant things and goings on. I'm glad it all worked out with perfect timing. Also quite glad to hear the meeting with James went swimmingly.

I'm quite envious of the farm shares and such. There's a farmer's market here, but very little produce involved. It's nice and the people lovely, but not what I'm looking for. No CSA or anything else in the area. Quite sad, I think. I'd love to have something along those lines around.

For the butcher, I've been doing some research. I haven't been fortunate to come across something worth trying, but you give me hope! Enjoy the soup for me, it sounds incredibly delightful and I look forward to making my own soups very soon ❤️

Soup is a blessing.

I look forward to hearing all about what you make!

How dare it ask me to do this?!?!?! I have to say the processing feelings has been going better for me than I expected it to.

After this conversation I remembered a farmers market less than 10mi from me that I had been to before, I looked it up and they had a CSA, but doesn't look like they're active now.  I may have to start making it a part of my routine to go there each week :)

You know, sometimes the Universe just assumes I'm a total badass and throws things down.

Okay, Universe, time to prove you right. ;)

Hello friend.

Just got a notification that Humble Bundle are running an offer on (digital, sadly) Zen books regarding the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh. Figured I'd share, sounds like something you might be interested in.

Ooo, I do like this. I need to  restock my Hanh collection -- I lost all my physical books in 2020, and this seems like an ideal opportunity to add to the Druid Library.

Thank you!

The visit with Georgia yesterday was nice. We played some board games, hung out, talked, watch some My Hero Academy and had yummy food.

I'm very glad I found a local butcher that also carries  nearby-ish seafood. Being in the mountains, we don't get a lot of local options, but the butcher brings in a shipment from the coast (about 4.5 hours away). This makes me feel good, and the Universe timed the discovery perfectly. When I asked Georgia what sorts of things she wanted for food choices, her face lit up and she said "Shrimp! So much shrimp!" So shrimp it shall be.

During one of our hanging-out-near-each-other sessions, I read the rest of Chapter nine and made many many notes. This is all going to be grand.

I was looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the book (I have only read the first and last chapters at this point), and settled in on the couch, book in hand, when everything went tippy-weird,  like being on a tilt-a-whirl ride, and it just got worse from there.

I'm not going to lie: It was scary.

All I could do was close my eyes and wait for everything to settle down. My meditation was "all will be well. breathe. (and please don't puke.)"

It went on long enough that I needed to give in completely and go lie down in my room in the dark and just be done with any expectations of the day, and that's what I did.

I plugged in the heating pad and set it at my lower back, mostly thinking it would be comfy, which it was, and it also was very helpful in having a center point. I wasn't spinning, the world was all fine. Breathe.

After a few hours of that, it all was calm enough that I was able to get up and brush my teeth and get ready for sleep.

This morning I woke up around 5:30 and was very gentle with myself in the dark.

I know I need to be more proactive in helping my poor brain.

I got up and put on my tennis shoes and found my shower things and one of my gym towels and put them in a bag. It took about 30 minutes to get everything together, just becuase I was moving that gingerly.

I walked out of the building and crossed the street to the the gym.

At the gym I did a mile on the track, then rowed 500 m on a rower, and did a set on each of the circuit machines. All of this was just enough to get the sense of "being in the gym" back, not really trying to set any landspeed records or anything. I don't even know what the weights settings were--i just adjusted them until they felt right. I'll care more about this later. Today's motto was Just Do It.

After the weights room, I took my bag and went to the steam room and the sauna. Lord, I have missed this. Why did I ever stop? (I know why, and that's not important right now. What's important is what I'm doing today.)

I took a shower and then walked home feeling better than I have in ages.

I dropped my gym towel into the washer and went upstairs while the kettle boiled. I stripped the bedsheets and added them to the wash, and set them to do their thing. I dropped the gym clothes in the basket for a round of dark wash later, and got dressed for work.

All was right with the world, and I logged in at 7:30, right on time.

This is the Way.

❤️

Having just spent three hours at work, let me just say that the best part about my morning gym routine is that I feel like the day is already a success before I even log in.

It's like armor againast the chaos and mesuppery that happens throughout the day.

Straight-up gold.

Same. It was debilitating and also new, and I very much did not like it.

I was reading @Ranger Hal's D&D themed thread about a Viridian Forest, and that led me to @Artemis Prime's thread, which is also set up in D&D terms, and is also, somehow, similarly color coded. I have stats and abilities breakdown, but she has Actions, and I think I'd like to explore how this fits in with my Philosopher Librarian.

Update on this front coming soon, and mad props to the Rangers for Rangering.

Universal understanding, restore balance (dispelling touch)
Universal advice +3

Applying her universal understanding to practical matters, the philosopher can find solutions to most mundane problems. This works much like the Aid Other action; the philosopher must spend as much time on the task as whoever she is trying to help does; this gives an automatic +2 bonus on any skill roll, attack roll, or to armor class made at the same time. Unlike the Aid Other action, this bonus applies as long as the situation remains unchanged, and even if the philosopher performs other actions.

Inner peace (immune to confusion, fear, and compulsions)

As she advances in level, a philosopher comes to realize the vanity of the world and the foolishness of mortal temptations. This gives her the ability to completely ignore various mental conditions as she advances in level.

At level 3, she becomes Immune to Confusion.

By level 6, she is also Immune to Fear, including use of the Intimidation skill.

At level 9 she gains Immunity to morale penalties. She cannot be compelled to attack someone against her will.

By level 12, he is Immune to all Compulsion effects.

Level 15 brings the wisdom to discern false hopes and dreams; she is immune to Immune to phantasm spells and effects.

Finally, at level 18 she becomes Immune to Charm effects.

The philosopher never outgrows her lust for debate, never becomes immune to the effects of the Bluff and Diplomacy skills.

Restore balance (greater dispel magic, swift action)

Yeah, it's all copy and pasted from D&D Beyond. I was going old school paper and book, but it became too annoying to have to keep looking a Vampirate's AC was or my spell save. So now I have it all in one place.

Agreed.

@Artemis Prime, I'm going to need your Masterly advice on how to formalize the Philosopher-Librarian character sheet-notebook that I've been putting together. What are your rates?

Good morning,a nd welcome back to the show.

I had a terrible case of restlessness last night -- every time I would start to fall asleep, I'd end up with weird non-sleeping dreams and it was a lot. I finally fell into actual sleep around 3, and slept until 7. Fortunately, my head was fine when I woke up, but it was about an hour later than I usually get out of bed, and of course my first thought was welp, there goes my gym time.

NO. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

I cast a light spell of Restore Balance against the fearsome and likely-erroneous idea that if i didn't log in at 7:30, everyone would be mad. Look, they won't even notice, and they don't care. You are not the center of the current storm, and that's so nice, isn't it? followed by a level 2 Gumption spell, fetched my gym towel from the dryer, donned my shoes and off I went, grateful to past-me for having put all the shower things and water bottle and gym card in a bag by the door.

At the gym, my nerves were still a bit of a mess about being "late," and I set them aside as I started along the track. They were nothing at all by the time I'd done a few turns, and I continued on in peace for the rest of the mile. In the weights room, I did 250m row, just enough to warm up my back and muscles, and then, with a sincere nod at the clock, I went downstairs to the steam room and sauna. The steam room turned into a full-on meditation space, and I'm not sure where I was for those 7 minutes, but thank you Universe.

YES. Friends, this is the Way.

I showered and made my way back to the Loft, waving at the staff on my way out.

I hadn't made tea yet, so I did that, and while the kettle boiled, I added the gym clothes to yesterdays dark wash and tossed the whole lot into the washing machine along with the gym towel. I think I'll need to find a lovely basket to keep the gym towel and clothes in, becuase having them in a heap at the ready made a big difference in the Gumption success this morning.

Again, as I logged in, I had the feeling that today was already a success.

I'm off to check the West-March and see how we are all getting along.

This is all good.

This is the Way.

@Artemis Prime, I'm going to need your Masterly advice on how to formalize the Philosopher-Librarian character sheet-notebook that I've been putting together. What are your rates?

Oh boy, that's comprehensive. Very nice. Am happy to serve as consultant on any questions for the simple pleasure of geeking out with good people.

The steam room turned into a full-on meditation space, and I'm not sure where I was for those 7 minutes, but thank you Universe.

YES. Friends, this is the Way.

It is indeed. Well done prioritizing gym time this morning.

Well, yes, adn there is more yet to add, as it occurs to me. I am, as might have been mentioned, a Philosopher-Librarian, after all. :D

Hooray to geeking out with good people!

With a spreadsheet of course!

Whoa, that's beautiful! My challenge is simple enough at Level 1 (no spells yet) that I don't think I'll have trouble keeping track of it in my challenge thread, but I'm definitely keeping this in mind for when things get more complicated.

Tonight is Zazen, and I'm looking forward to it.

I could really tell how off-kiklter I was last week (and everyone else was too) with the weird holiday schedule and all the overwork that seemed to bury us all.

I elected not to go to Zazen becuase I was overwhelmed with work.

This was not the right thing to do, and I'm glad I know that.
