Maybe it's just that I'm tired but: so many pistol squats! What is wrong with you woman? Those aren't all in one set, right? RIGHT?!

yep, all in one set, alternating legs. and let's just clarify that when i say pistol squat, i mean going down as far as i can right up until i think i'm going to fall down. i can't do a proper pistol yet. but that's why i'm doing so many - because i want to! :D

and seabright - i did the mega-excited clapping just now when i logged into my credit card account and saw the huge amount paid down! words can't explain how great it feels to rid myself of debt. even if i can't buy that cute polka dot skirt i really wanted...

CF 6PM WoD

15 min to work to a heavy 3-rep press.

** only got 50. which, having a 1rm of 58, i should've gotten more. grrr. 'tupid press.

then:

"DT"

5 Rounds for time

12 Deadlift

9 Hang Power clean

6 Push Jerk

did 60lbs for everything except the last few hang cleans & push jerks - moved down to 57 b/c form was not great. i took 17 minutes-ish to do this, so went over the 15 minute cap. it's very possible that i actually did 6 rounds, b/c i definitely lost count. i was the last one to finish, but i don't really care. 60 is the heaviest i've gone for a WoD, and it was ambitious, and i did it (well, except for that last round). i could've gone easy on myself at 55lbs, but what good would that serve? i'm sore & bruised today, but i love love love the barbell wods.

man, it's workouts like yesterday that are getting pretty excited to start the unlimited membership so i can just tear into these workouts on a whole new level and really start seeing improvement.

goal-related:

- wrote out flashcards/studied for an hour. also contacted ACSM to get my voucher # so that I get a member discount for the exam. I have set a deadline for the beginning of September to take the exam, just need to save some money to sign up.

- i set up a meeting with the CF manager to talk this evening about potential work with CF!

- tracked my food & spending yesterday

man, it's workouts like yesterday that are getting pretty excited to start the unlimited membership so i can just tear into these workouts on a whole new level and really start seeing improvement.

DT is a tough one. i forget my numbers the last time, but i remember that it was tough. :)

** i did this wod before, and i need to see what the time was for that. next time, i need to use a heavier kettlebell.

clean practice - 45lb x 7 x 3 (just to practice getting under the bar/loosen up)

i did not feel up to doing the CF class on Saturday b/c my arms were killing me. after working out, i stayed to watch the final CFB challenge to see which member would win a free ticket to the CrossFit Games w/ the coaches in Cali. the challenge was 15 min to find max back squat, then take 85% of that, and do AMRAP squats w/o rest. looked super challenging, and it was great to see some of my favorite CF people giving it their all.

rest day. got a lot of chores and things done, so was still super productive!

goal-related:

- tracked spending. took out cash as my spending money for the week, so that i don't overspend.

- submitting essay/resume for CF internship this afternoon.

- didn't track food this weekend. :-\

DT sounds fun. I've done similar ones, but usually a 3-2-1 rep scheme. Once was 8 min AMRAP, another was 10 rounds (talk about fatiguing). I like that 3-2-1 rep scheme, and straining those movements together just feels badass

yeah the thing about DT is that the jerk is ultimately the limiting factor. the deadlifts were the nice break, but doing 6 jerks in a row was just crazy. on my very last jerk, i struggled for like 10 seconds to lock my arms out, and my coach was laughing b/c i was just like stuck in the same position forever. stupid long arms!

Hang snatch

weighted sit ups

reverse hyper

the weights are a li'l weird b/c i used the 33lb bar and realized after the fact that i used 5.5lb plates instead of 5lb plates. didn't push to try any new weights on any of the lifts, so it felt good just to practice the movements. got some useful advice on how to quicken my elbows for the cleans as well.

yeah the thing about DT is that the jerk is ultimately the limiting factor. the deadlifts were the nice break, but doing 6 jerks in a row was just crazy. on my very last jerk, i struggled for like 10 seconds to lock my arms out, and my coach was laughing b/c i was just like stuck in the same position forever. stupid long arms!

had about 20 minutes to get 1rm back squat. got 95lbs! I'm counting this as a PR, as I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've done this and actually gone parallel. baby steps, y'all. then:

Cleans 135/95 (53#)

Ring Dips (subbed dips on the parallets w/ feet on the ground)

got 10:50. i never usually do full cleans, as Coach Neal told me at Oly one time to just do power b/c of my mobility stuff. this time, though, i did full cleans and it was obvi harder. there were a couple times where i forgot to squat, so did a few power cleans as well!

50 pistols (25 each leg). and walked about 2 miles on my way home from the fireworks. went to the CF BBQ for a bit and felt super lazy b/c about 40 people did the Lumberjack 20 WoD prior to, and I ditched it to watch the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Had to get to my America on. Oh well.

got 10:50. i never usually do full cleans, as Coach Neal told me at Oly one time to just do power b/c of my mobility stuff. this time, though, i did full cleans and it was obvi harder. there were a couple times where i forgot to squat, so did a few power cleans as well!

Getting your American on is crucial, plus, you can't feel lazy when you do so much as it is :P You've totally got me doing pistol squats all da timez hahaha they totally kick my ass everytime though. But srsly, kudos to you for all the hard work you've put in so far! Gonna be supah jacked :3

'MERRRICA!

Having watched the Boston fireworks from the Cambridge side of the river, I have to say that walking 2+ miles is much preferred over trying to drive or use public transportation afterwards. The Boston side is probably even more insanely crowded.
