Mir's hulkish log

So yeah. It'd be nice to have somewhere to log all my workouts consistently. I need to figure out what to do with all the various bits of information I already have on Facebook/Google docs/NF blog/previous challenge threads. Hrmz.

Also I've been thinking about a bucket list, and it's sort of a battle to do some of these things, so what better place? I'll likely add to this as I think of things.

learn some form of martial art

play my flute in a band again

So I definitely suck at keeping this :) But I don't feel up to doing a challenge right now, and I wanted to have a place to keep myself updated and still sort-of on the forums, even though I'm sort of on a break.

 

I've decided that today is the day I get back to the gym, and I'm really intimidated by it. Not gonna psych myself out though.

 

I'm not sure if my new meds are helping; I stayed home from work on Monday and yesterday I woke up in such an anxious state that I took some ativan before even getting out of bed. I spent the morning anxious (until the ativan kicked in) and then sleepy. So sleepy that I took a nap under my desk at lunch - really. I have a picture of my view. I'm pretty sure no one saw me - at least I hope they didn't. At any rate, I haven't been on the new antidepressant for a month yet, plus I was not good at taking it on vacation, so I'm sticking it out for a bit longer.

 

Other stuff: I still feel really disorganized at home, and I'm still having trouble concentrating/being productive at work. I'm trying, but I have several issues I've run into that require my boss' assistance, and I haven't mustered up the gumption to stand up, walk 10 feet to his office, and ask him.

 

Wine trip: after the incident on the canoe trip, I told everyone that I just couldn't come anymore, and so instead Mr. Mir and I will be going ourselves later in October. He doesn't like the wine stuff, but he does like spending time with his wife (yay!) and I guess he didn't like the thought of me going alone.

 

Vacation: was amazing. Berlin was very heavy. Lots to think about with WW2 and Berlin Wall stuff. Their Victory Column still has bullet holes in it. Pretty crazy. We both liked Amsterdam better - both because of the atmosphere and the architecture. Berlin was like another big European city, but Amsterdam was very different with all the canals and the gables and hundreds of bikes EVERYWHERE. We were not ready to come home and we are already tossing around ideas for our next big vacation.

 

So that's what's up with Mir :)

Have not yet been to Rome, but it's definitely on the list. We are talking about perhaps Japan for next year.

 

So! I finally went. My extremities feel like noodles, and my stomach is so big and floppy it feels like a sentient being. Buuut I went to the gym. Yay!

 

Today's workout - finally. About time I got my ass back in the gym.

This week started out not so good. Missed work Monday. Experiencing a great amount of anxiety. Took ativan first thing yesterday and today and seem to be handling life much better. Finally talked to boss about issues and he was very understanding - he's going to let me telecommute when I have one of those days. And here's hoping that it will be a temporary solution and I can be back to my normal, wacky, somewhat well-adjusted self before too long.

 

Yesterday's workout:

Then I looked at my workout log from the last time I did 10s - bench and DLs are about spot on, but last time I started squats at 115. So, not sure what I should do with those, because I also feel like I'm losing tension in the hole. So. Yeah.

Yay for your boss being understanding! ADA does say employers are required to make reasonable accommodations for disabilities and I would think anxiety does count for that sort of thing so good for him for following through without having to jump through hoops.

 

Ugh squats and losing tension in the hole. I'm waffling about mine-- I've raised the safeties so I can't go below parallel and it really helps me feel the tension in my hamstrings. But I don't know if it's better for me to built up strength from below that instead. I'm thinking I'll at least keep things the way they are for one full cycle of what I'm doing and then think about switching though.

Yes; I'm incredibly relieved. So now I just have to make sure my recently-upgraded-to-Windows-7 machine can still connect through VPN and I will be all set. I kind of knew he was going to be ok about it (especially when he was so cool when I got food poisoning after my vacation) but there's still that anxiety about even talking to someone.

 

Ugh squats indeed. KW told me that maybe I should go a little faster and that will help - I will give that a try. But yeah it was definitely a little frustrating.

Yeah, I'm hanging out in a battle log and not doing a challenge myself. There are enough of them that things get lost unless you remember to sub on things, which I often don't.

Agreed. And I just need a kind of NF break right now. Trying to be more productive at work and actually live in reality instead of on NF. It's a strange and startling change, although I'm still not as productive as I would like :P

 

Battle logs ftw, mine is all that kept me on the boards for the last few months before this challenge :D

I'm hoping to get back to 4x/week next week. I was pretty sore after my 2 days in a row last week, but not too sore this week, which I will take as a win!

MIR!!  I been looking errrywhere for you.  I came back from my "break" was like where did everyone go?  SO MANY NEW PEOPLE!  Which is awesome, but I just don't know where to start.

 

And WQ is in battle logs as well... must look in battle logs more often.

 

I'm sorry your still having some not so good days.  Things will get better!  And yay for back at gym, and awesome boss!
