Quickie 5km tonight with one of my trainees with a proper warmup and cool down.

hamstring is still REALLY tight, might have to get an adjustment if this doesn't straighten itself out

Took a rest night last night and made sweet love to my foam roller instead. Did 20 pushups but my heart just wasn't in it, my leg & wife needed some attention so I threw in the towel. Balance

Little to much information... Most of the time my heart isn't in doing push ups either. At least I like bench press and overhead presses though to work most of the same muscles.

Lunchtime trail run with dynamic warmup and cooldown!

I was going to do some planks but I was already late getting back to the office so I skipped 'em. hopefully I can get some ninja office planks in the afternoon

Got my run in last night despite having people over for dinner. It wasn't a quick one but got in regardless and included my warmup routine and cool down walk.

It great that you got in rather than letting it be an excuse to make it shorter or skip it.

Productive day yesterday (Thursday):

7km trail run at lunch with dynamic warmup routine and walking cool down

Took my son to baseball practice and used the playground equipment to do:

- Pullups 3 x 6

- Chinups 3 x 6

- Parallel-Grip Pullups 3 x 6

- Dips 1 x 5

I wanted to get some more dips in, and do some planks but ran out of time.

After putting the kids to bed, I did some weights though:

- Lat Pulldowns 90lbs 3 x 10

- Benchpress 100lbs 3 x 5

Ran out of time again so I didn't get a chance to up the weight on my benchpress, I wanted to make sure I got my 3 sets of 5 in first. Not a huge deal.

Weekend:

3hrs of outdoor rock climbing Friday night which was AWESOME, been a while since I've been at the climbing crag near my work. Good times! Plus 2km of hiking (in and out)

Saturday was a write off because of a family wedding, 5hrs of driving....bleh...

Sunday I helped a friend demolish his house so there was much lifting of all the heavy things. Later on I did some chinups/pullups/dips at the park with the kids, so I'm combining the two and calling it my workout. Unconventional but effective. I got out later on for a 6.54km run with the neighbours too. Busy day

Week 2 Review

4 runs or rides a week -Got 'em all in this week despite a perpetually tight left hamstring A

Warmup/Cool Down - Did a warmup/cool down for each run, although Sunday's was short I still got it in A

Life

Clearing credit card debt - Almost there, I had to put a few things on the card this week for logistic reasons, but the balance is continually dropping A

Ran a quick 6.1km with my neighbours again last night. Quick warmup and decent cool down; I have to be mindful not to cheat on the warmup, it's becoming a bit half-assed.

Also made a CC payment last night, under $100 left on it!

Week 3 Review

Kind of an odd week. My wife took the kids out of town for a few days so I spent my "free" time doing all the things I don't usually get to do (i.e. - going out for beer/live music, outdoor rock climbing, etc.), then we swapped and she went away with some friends for the weekend and I was on solo parenting duty. Unfortunately, it made difficult to fit everything in and the workouts simply didn't happen. here's the weekly fallout:

4 runs or rides a week -3 runs, no rides -2 road, 1 trail B

2 workouts a week - NONE I didn't make the time for the workouts, and kind of needed a rest day or two anywayF

Warmup/Cool Down - Did a warmup/cool down for each run A

Life

Clearing credit card debt - Another payment and I'll be free and clear! The only thing preventing me from doing it right now is a car repair bill coming tomorrow, and a pending wedding gift purchase. We'll see how much that comes to before making a move A

I noticed something interesting; I always seem to hit a speed bump on week 3 of the challenges, and spend the next 3 trying to get back in the groove. Hopefully I can do better this time round

Monday:Rest night

Tuesday: Busy night last night

1.) rushed home last night to pickup my truck from the garage, I used my credit card to pay for the repairs but I made a similar sized payment so I think I'm hovering at the same level as last week,

2.) hit up the climbing gym with my best friend for a couple hours,

3.) rushed home and suited up for a 9.5km run with one of my regular partners, unfortunately being in a rush to meet with him caused me to completely forget my warm-up routine so I did an extended cool-down with some specific stretching for my hamstring/glute

Good night overall, hopefully I can hold the momentum.

Another double-up night! My wife took the kids out of town for a few days so I've been trying to maximize my "free" time:

Did a nice weight workout while backing up my laptop, multi-task for the win!...ooops sorry Steve, but the mini-challenge demanded I don't miss a workout!

Pushups - 25, 20, 20 , 20 20

Pullups - 3 x 6

Latpulldowns - 3 x 90lbs

Benchpress - 5 x 100

Deadlifts - BW x 5, 110 x 5, 120 x 5, 125 x 5

Afterward I grabbed the two neighbours that I'm training for the half-marathon in Oct. and went out for an easy 7km (with warmup and cool down)

Pretty good night!

We went away for a 4 day weekend so I didn't get a chance to update, so here goes:

Thursday - 9.85km run along the waterfront. It was ugly hot out and I ended up with a crushing headache later on that evening.

Friday - Travel/rest

Saturday - 1hr easy bouldering session on a rock outcropping I found at my cottage. Later, I did an impromptu 2hr adventure run: gravel road, cow pasture, wooden fen, bushwacking and back. Good times!

Sunday - easy 3(ish)km run

Week 4 Review
