Less suck and more awesome this time.

Recommended Posts

Well, I didn't do so well on my previous challenge so we are going to try again. I had lined up some goals, but with the rules change for this challenge, I had to weed out a few of my goals.

Goal 1: Eat gluten-free.

I have done this in the past successfully, but I need to get back on it. I don't feel well most of the time while eating gluten. This is likely to transition into a primal/paleo diet through the challenge. I am going to try a two week stint w/o dairy also. This will be extremely difficult for me as I love my cheese.

2 Constitution and 1 Charisma for this one.

Goal 2: Strength Training.

I want to be strong! Pretty simple I know but that is what I want. I am going to do convict conditioning and actually do it this time, not say I am going to. Starting at step 1 is going to suck, but I understand why he advises you to start there. I will probably do a quick 2 week progression on the ones that are easy and focus properly when it starts to become difficult.

5 Strength for no missed workouts.

Goal 3: Sprinting

Last challenge was a 5k, this time I am going to go for sprints. I am hoping that the shorter duration/higher intensity will be easier on my feet. I am only planning on sprinting once a week, but it is better than nothing. Anyone know a good app for tracking intervals? I have an android device.

3 Dexterity for no missed days.

Goal 4: Reading the Book.

I always mean to read my Bible, but I fail hard most of the time. This needs to change. I need to read daily.

4 Wisdom for no missed days.

Wish me luck!

Thanks Draco, I may get on pintrest just for recipe ideas. I love cooking, so more recipes can not be a bad thing. :0

@Athena I really should get tested. My insurance sucks and has a horribly high deductible. I would like to know how serious my intolerance is. As of now, I get gassy and crampy when I eat gluten.

On to the goals. I did Step 1 of Convict conditioning today. Today was push-ups and leg raises. I can't do the progression for the wall push-ups yet, but that will be my goal every time I attempt them. I am going to be doing additional pushups through the day. I do them at work intermittently throughout the day. This morning was two sets 40/33 respectively. On to the leg raises, I am a lot weaker in my abs than I thought. I managed two sets of 15 on step 1 here.

I read my bible this morning as well. I am on track with my goals as of now. I need to figure out what day I will go and do my sprints.

I like your thread title and I agree with kimblitz. The last challenge was just a warmup. More power to you this time around, so keep it going!

Oh I agree on the "something interesting" to cook. I love having something new to try. Right now I am reading through 1 Samuel. I finished an old testament class last semester and I really enjoyed it, so I figured I would do some reading in the OT.

No workouts today, the CC plan I am doing is three days a week. My arms are killing me today, mostly my triceps. Since I am not doing strength training today, I will probably try to do some walking on my work breaks. I am going to try to add in some planking to my off days. I feel like my abs are a weak point on my body.

Nice. Though I am not a Bible-reader myself, my older brother is an aspiring theologian and Old Testament scholar. He seems to really enjoy it. :D

Today has been a success so far. Got my workout in this morning and turned my legs to jello, read my bible, and resisted all of the crazy good foods at a company lunch for a co-worker leaving. I am not sure how, but I somehow managed to not grab a slice of cheesecake. I did however eat a ton of fruit...probably more than I should have.

Not much else to update as of now. Trying to figure out what to do for the week's mini-challenge. I'll figure something out.

I've been a little lax on the updates, but here we go. Everything is still going well.

Did step 1 of CC again last night. I did progression on push-ups but I am still lacking on the Leg Raises. That is fine though, I will get there.

My eating has been good, maybe a little high on my fruit intake, but it is hard not to be when cherries are in season.

I have continued my bible reading, not missing a day. This is probably the longest stint of reading my bible daily; kind of embarrassed to admit that.

I was not able to accomplish my sprinting like I had wanted. :( I did get in roughly 40-60 yards on day while walking at work.  I just randomly started sprinting down the road.  It felt good, but I was wanting to get in some intervals.

Hey, man, congrats on doing the sprint in the first place. Sometimes I just want to dash/sprint/dance down the road -- particularly when I've got a good jam going -- and I restrain myself. Don't sweat it too much. You'll get there. :D

Not as great of a week this last week. I did the convict conditioning, but didn't do sprints again. I've been letting this one float as a "I'll get to it when I can," but this isn't working. I am going to find a time to schedule it in. This next week school starts back for my wife and me, so it is about to become tougher. Didn't do as well with eating either, but I was hanging out with friends and having a good time. Few pieces of pizza and some drinks and a lot of fun cube drafting Magic the Gathering.

This week's mini-challenge fits in well with what I am needing right now. I will work on this and post it soon.

Time to update again, I am so behind. I haven't been doing updates lately, just have not got around to it. My wife and I both started back to school in August. We have been crazy busy and trying to find our new groove for the semester....still searching. I basically did nothing for the last two weeks of the challenge, it wasn't even on my mind. I don't need to let that get in the way of what I did accomplish though.

Goal 1: Eat Gluten Free

I am certain that I was at least 90% compliant on this one. I will give myself an A on this. +2 Con + 1 Cha

Goal 2: Strength Training

I did really good on this for the first 4 weeks, but really slacked off on the last two. Two out of 6 weeks puts me 66% compliance here. +3.3 Str

Goal 3: Sprinting

umm....I don't want to talk about this one, total failure. F

Goal 4: Reading the Book.

Again, I did four of six weeks. 66% comes out to 2.64 Wis.

I managed to scrap together a mini-challenge point, so my total points earned for this challenge are:

3.64 Wis

3.3 Str

2 Con

1 Cha

I am working on goals more oriented for a hectic and crazy schedule for the school semester.
