*raiders march* Hold on to your butts! The man with the hat is back, in an all new- Oh. Part three? Wait, what? This is still the same adventure?! Booo!

Yeah, sorry for that. The mission is the same as it has been for the last two challenges; try to take over the wor- ummmm - to lay the ground for the one-arm pullup. Yup. I'm THAT guy. The stakes are - again - a bit higher, progress comes more slowly than ever, but I'm still determined, I'm sure I'm going to make it. The only question is "when", not "if".

GOALS

1 - One-arm pullups. In my first challenge, I focused on close pullups, in my seconds challenge, I learned the one-arm pullup with a towel and the next step would be/should be half one-arm pullups. But I can't quite pull them of... yet (- it's always a yet), so I'm going to focus on one-arm pullups with the towel... far away. Until now, I had the towel close to me, now I'll keep it as far away as possible. And I'll do jumped one-arm pullups (yeah, I'm just inventing names here). So, grabbing the bar with one arm and... well, jumping up. I'll add one rep each week. We will see how that works.

2 - More pullups. So, over the course of the last challenge, I managed to do 2786 pullups in total (in three different variations). Of course, I want to top that. And I want to get faster with my w7 workout. I have to beat 100 pullups in 9 minutes, 40 seconds. Ugh. This aint gonna be easy.

3 - Jump rope. I want to learn a new skill and I picked the front cross. And it would be nice if I could stop whipping myself.

4 - Continue to read one book each week.

Let's punch it! :)

Allright, Challenge results:

Fail. The "Towel far away-Method" didn't really work. Although I managed to increase the number of reps a bit, I'm nowhere closer to the one arm pullup than I was before. I'm stuck. I can hang from the bar with one arm, and I can pull myself up a few inches, but that's it. So, in six weeks, nothing changed. Not sure what's wrong. Maybe my training is all wrong, maybe I'm doing too much, maybe I'm not eating enough. Or I'm just impatient. I don't know, but I'll try another tactic next challenge.

I totally destroyed that goal. 3000 pull ups in total and a new PR in the W7 workout (100 pullups AND 100 pushups in eleven minutes something). Absolutely nuts, but totally worth it. :D

3 - Jump rope. I want to learn a new skill and I picked the front cross. And it would be nice if I could stop whipping myself.

That went much better than expected! I made already huge progress in the first two weeks and I consider the front cross as conquered.

4 - Continue to read one book each week.

Not a problem. Read four Trek-Novels and one book about the shady sides of the WWF (which made me sick to my stomach) and a book about arms trades.

So, one goal failed, three goals accomplished. Not bad. A good challenge. All in all, I'm happy with my performance. :)

Well done, friend! Sorry you're stalled on your one arm pull up progress. I definitely have no idea how to help with that. Maybe working some handstand push ups in could help? Or one armed hand stand push ups?!?! Yeah, best to seek advice elsewhere. I got nothin'.

Nothin'.. but a book recommendation! So, I follow this geeky blog of awesome and she read this book called Redshirts by John Scalzi. It might be right up your alley. This is the link to her review of it (as well as a couple other books). You can check it out and see if you'd be interested. You are now one of 3 people I think of immediately when I see something Star Trek related.
