Negative people drag you down; therefore, I limit contact with them. I spend the most time with my wife, my two kids, our housemate, and my co-worker who sits behind me. My co-worker is positive. In fact many of my co-workers are very up-beat. My Toastmaster friends are positive, too (my favorite part about going to Toastmasters is the positive people focused on improving themselves). But the other 4 of my "top 5" have large swings with high highs and low lows. To maintain my positivity, I do my best to pep talk them out of their lows, but if they are set on staying there, then I just have to avoid them. I know my kids are kids, so I just need to keep working on them, but my wife and housemate are adults set in their ways. It is a tough reality, but you only get one life and I'm not fond of wasting any more of mine on negativity. Outside of those top 5, I'm only bring positive people into my life. The negative ones can keep on walking.
