Ew...  Marysville.

Guess it is ok if you want to go to the casino or Cabella's a lot.

*poke poke* Is anyone still alive around here?

@Barefootviking -- yeah, I moved up to Marysville. Definitely...rural. Hell~ish and what-not. :playful:

Hellooooo gang!  We need to have lunch/dinner/outing together!  The last one was, what, like last fall?  We need moar socializing.  Especially now the weather's getting nice.

What say you to a picnic in Gas Works Park sometime next month?  Like, Sunday April 28 perhaps?  We could even fly kites or throw a ball or grill stuff on one of the hibachi grills there, if you were so inclined.

I agree, thats a good idea. Sundays can be kind of hit or miss for me in the spring/summer time though. My work gets busy and sometimes I have to work Sundays. I think that being Seattleites, the sun scares and confuses us at first. Then right when we get used to it, its time for the other 9 months of gray weather. Do they still show movies on that screen at Gasworks? I think thats more in the summer if I'm not mistaken.

Did anyone go to comicon this year? I didn't see anything on the boards.

Hi guys, havent posted in this forum yet but just throwing it out there that I'm in the Olympia area but willing to travel to the next meetup!

Also wondering... anyone know of any olympic lifting meets (snatch, C&J) in the area? I'm having trouble finding any.

Hey all, I've just joined NF and am looking for some activity partners in Seattle. I love frisbee, tennis, walking, volleyball, and hiking. I'm really trying to take the rest of this year to get myself in a healthy place, and I just can't go it alone, so any awesome people are welcome to come along side me. :) I belong to a local gym, but I don't go consistently. I tried CrossFit for two months, but just didn't really like the coaches at the box, so I couldn't justify the cost.

I'm 30 years old, and I have a dog, so I do a lot of outdoor things with her, especially now that "summer" has showed up! Let me know if anyone is interested in doing something!!

Hey Barecca82 - Welcome to NF!

I'm a recovering recluse, ok not really but I tend to spend most of my time indoors. I mean who needs fresh air?  :)

So I'm new to the whole outdoors activities arena, well pretty much most active activities. I'm up for trying pretty much anything once though. I have a dog as well but she acts more like a cat. Haha.

Welcome to NF Verlayla!

Do you know of any good trails for beginners? I've been wanting to attempt another hike since my last horrible experience but some of the trail website comments are all over the place in regards to level. :)

If you are looking for a mostly flat walk in the woods some of the local parks are great (Arboretum, Discovery, Seward, Carkeek).  Nice thing about living in Seattle, many big parks full of trails to explore.

Most things in the mountains which are going to be prettier, more scenic and less crowded will be a bit tougher of course.  I consider Twin Falls to be a pretty good hike close to the city when you are ready to tackle just a bit of elevation gain.  Wallace Falls is a good next step up from there.  A good rule of thumb for considering a trails difficulty is to look at both the distance and elevation gain in relation to eachother.  A trail with 1200 feet of elevation gain over 3 miles is going to be a lot easier than a trail with 1000 feet of elevation gain over 1 mile, despite the second being a much shorter hike.

I live about 20 miles south of Seattle so I don't get to experience the local parks as much as I want to. Thank you for the info on the trails, I'll have to try Twin Falls sometime!

New to the boards, but I saw people talking bout easy trails and hiking, love the Burke Gilman/Sammamish River Trail in woodinville! Also for something a little more challenging, the pipeline trail that branches off from the river trail near the chateau st Michelle winery has some steeper hills etc... Used to do it on nice days when I was a substitute teacher, now that I'm teaching full time... I don't have the time :(
