And yes, I agree with nightlight. Just toss the scale. It's not worth it. My personal take on it? I've dropped about 15 pounds, but in the meantime, managed to add a couple inches to my shoulders, increase my max in the various lifts, *and* fit into one size smaller jeans and two sizes smaller t-shirts. Given that, I don't think it's an accurate representation of who I am (or you are), regardless of what the scale says. I still remember walking into crossfit only being able to squat 180~ something, and then moving up to being able to do a max at 330. There's little that compares to the idea that you are stronger, fitter, and could kill (or destroy?) the old you. I still remember doing 21-15-9 kb swings + burpees when I first started. I almost died. I did it a couple months ago, and wasn't even smoked. I cut 2+ minutes off my time. If that's not progress worth celebrating...well, then. I might as well quit. There's so much more to life than just a number. Please celebrate the fact that you are a badass. I look at your before and after photos and am amazed at your mental and physical strength. Keep up the good work! The real issue? Doing crossfit is going to add muscle mass. Your body is going to change. You're likely to *gain* weight. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. We love you and want you to be happy. So please don't wreck yourself with this one measuring tool. My recommendation? Get a tape measure. Measure several body points (I like neck, chest [or over/under bust line for women], waist [belly button line], glutes, thighs, calves, biceps, forearm). That, a good picture or two, and some tracking of your max lifts (squat, deadlift, press, power clean) can give you a lot more idea of how you're doing than just the one number. I also love Jason Seib's take on all of this...he's very smart coach who's written a lot on the topic, and why weight doesn't matter: part 1 part 2 ...and something else. **hugs** Link to comment

Everyone does truly have their best "faces" on during an interview and you never know what your team - and what the company you're going to work for - may actually be like. Where I work now has such a focus on their employees that I get nervous that I'm going to go somewhere that doesn't value the people that they have. I am going to accept the offer - it's the right step for my family and for myself. Let's hope it's the best choice!(or let's hope that my employer tries to keep me! )Good luck!!Thank you! EmCee
Oy. So, I officially accepted the position. I am in an unusual position now.My boss is out of the building until next week. Taking that into account, I called the DM to give my two weeks (and then some) notice. We had a discussion and he asked me to e-mail him so I basically reiterated through e-mail what we had discussed. He replied that he spoke to our VP and that they would like to speak with me about staying and what they can counter-offer with. I said that I would be interested in having that discussion as my intention was always to stay with the company but that I could not wait very long as I think it would be morally/ethically unfair to the new job if it got further than 48 hours out. They are unwillingly to make any offers without my boss, which is understandable and certainly the right decision. So - what do I do? Tell them no thank you, I can't wait that long? I don't want to put the new company in a bad position because of this. In theory, my company shouldn't have taken me for granted and should have offered me this position before it came to this. Brometheus
If you accepted the new offer, and your company is unwilling to discuss terms w/o your manager, and hasn't promoted you so far, I'd go and work with the new company. It's not, in my opinion, ethical to lead the new company on...but that's just my opinion. I'm also not fond of "threatening" to leave and taking a counter-offer. Your boss may hold a grudge and not promote your further in the future. Just my take on it though. Link to comment
