Caution
Sigh. This is why I'm single. It's not really fair to blanket all guys, but how do you ever trust anyone when a guy who was supposed to be such a good friend is so selfish? It's definitely easier alone. It is always sucky when people who are supposed to be your friends end up being huge jerks because of some ulterior motive. Strawberry Squatcake
Look at you, being awesome all over the place! Congrats on an awesome week 2 and the life level up. That dude sounds like a hot mess. Kudos on getting over that! :high five:MEATLOAF! It was pretty tasty, if I do say so muhself. I will be making it again!I'm getting ready to eat my first REAL piece for lunch. I can't wait. I love anything spicy. So I'm amped for this. No worries, some guys are tools. Don't let the minority spoil it for the rest of us (and by us I mean the general population of nice, if somewhat off kilter gentlemen )I wish I could find a (single) nice somewhat off kilter gentleman. But you're absolutely right. It's just so exhausting dealing with him, when I get away from it I'm so happy to be single. Don't worry, blinders aren't totally on. But I'm also not actively seeking a guy at this point. Lots of awesome! Congrats on the life level-up, that guy does sound like a mess, wow.I know. It's like I think I'm smart but have terrible common sense wit da dudes. Wow, that guy sounds like a real winner (I apologize in advance if that much sarcasm breaks the internet)Awesome week 2 results! Way to drop some red-headed fury on it!!!I also made Laura's buffalo chicken meatloaf last week, my take on it is that when I make it again, I'm going to saute' all of my vegetables before I fold them into the meat. I like multiple textures in my food, but there was a little too much crunch in the veggies for "cooked" food. And I won't be on Whole30 next time I make it, cause I really really wanted some ranch with it! Anywho, keep up the awesome, lady! The internet survivied. I like sarcasm, so my thread is especially resilient. Oh man. Ranch. Why you gotta go sayin' these things? I haven't eaten enough to know if my veggies are soft enough, but I made one big meatloaf, so I think nearly an hour in the oven probably softened them up. I'd expect more crispy results if you made burgers or smaller loafs or even the muffins. What size did yo uend up doing? Then again, I haven't actually had any, so maybe I'll notice the same thing. HUNGRY! ditto. (but.. you know.. i'm not a dude.)also, good job on leveling up. i'm glad you had that experience, it's empowering.I know! If only I knew such bomb-diggity people IRL! And even though it sucked (and he's lucky I didn't toss him in the bonfire), it was empowering to SAY it, stay strong (I tend to feel bad doing these kinds of things because people like him know how to make me feel like it's me - hey, it's NOT ME!). And even more empowering to not feel anything. Well, other than annoyance and a little bit of fear of people watching (since it seemed like everyone knew i was avoiding him). It is always sucky when people who are supposed to be your friends end up being huge jerks because of some ulterior motive. Good on you for dumping the excess baggage!I'm stealing this I agree. Why people gotta be so selfish? I don't even get it? For what? Sex? You can get that anywhere? Companionship? We had that as friends. It doesn't even make sense to me. But I've given up on understanding. Let these things go.And yes on the meatloaf. YUM! Shape-Shifting Ginger Current Battle Log 2" washers for smaller weight increases Link to comment
goodwince
Humans are weird. I say humans because it's not just guys and it isn't just girls. We both have these weird motives deep within us. We all want to feel loved, but a lot of us aren't sure how to go about receiving said love. Some of us try to get it by the thrill of the chase, some feel it by the number of people they can get to desire them. It's not the healthiest of ways, but we're all weird in our own ways.. Meatloaf sounds legendary, how spicy was it?You nerds are all the best. Seriously. Like Laura said (below), you keep my faith in humanity. I'm not saying I'm not selfish. If I were totally selfless, I'd continue to "talk" to him. (And it really is talking - it's not like he takes me to the backseat of his car and we do it. Although, I think that's the intention of "talking." Becuse "talking" never gets us anywhere, which is why I put it in quotes.)But seriously, thanks for the thoughtful post. And thanks to everyone else! The meatloaf. Meh. I don't know what the problem was. I think it wasn't spicy enough. I shoudl have just put all hot sauce in it (not the spicy garlic stuff that was labeled medium). I ended up putting way more hot sauce in it but maybe my sauce wasn't hot enough. I'll admit, I've never bought this stuff before. And am not a buffalo sauce connoisseur. Anyway, I probably quadrupled the hot sauce (plus added in more cayenne and chipotle pepper) and it was kind of blah. If you like spicy, you might want to stick to hotter sauce or put more of of it in, or add in other things like cayenne. I also liked Max Power's reference to ranch. I think if I make it again, I'd add some dry ranch dressing mix. Not sure how that goes as far as healthy (I figure with no milk or mayo, it can't be too bad). Or maybe it's just not as good warmed up? I was starving so that wasn't the issue. But it was delicious last night. I'm not really a meatloaf kind of girl. Is meatloaf generally good warmed up? Grats on week 2!!! And, seriously... telling that guy to leave you alone once-and-for-all is a major WIN! You rock, girl!I shoulda tossed him in the fire if I wanted it to be "for good." At some point a guy's self-respect button has to flip, right? Or at least embarrassment? So weird. I definitely woudln't keep coming back for more rejection. Men, I'll never understand 'em. I do not have a high spicy tolerance. Hope that helps? See above for my "good but something's missing" thing. I think part of it was it just wasn't spicy enough. Part of it probably is that it's not fresh out of the oven. And then it could just be a flavoring problem? And I LOVE it when my nose runs. I don't always love how my stomach feels after too-spicy stuff. Sometimes my stomach revolts. Sometimes it doesn't. The chance of it not revolting is what keeps me coming back for more! Strawberry Squatcake
Yesterday all I accomplished was getting super-frustrated by double-unders. I swear I did at least 700 rope jumps, and got six DUs. Here's hoping today will be a more efficient use of my time. After jumping rope, I decided to lift, then go for a run. Unfortunately, my back wasn't cooperating with lifting, and then I got sucked into some family drama. So all I did were a few sets of squats. Trying to decide how best to proceed with my back. I can't decide if it's just stiff or if I'm about to be injured. The sore spot is right next to my spine. I can get on it with a tennis ball and it makes me want to cry. After a few minutes of laying on a tennis ball on the spot, it doesn't hurt as bad, but I can feel that general area of my spine is stiff. I don't know enough about backs to konw what this means. Should I keep working on it with a tennis ball? Getting a general massage has never really helped with these kinds of things. There is a chirpractor who does "active release technique" which seems like localized massage for the areas in pain. It's $100 a visit, though, and the doctor isn't on my insurance plan. I could go to him and have him work on that area and my shoulder (both on the same side of my back). Or I could rest, and use heat/tennis balls to try to work it out myself.Or I could just rest. Here's what I did with squats:45X1075X695X5115X12115X12I was supposed to do three more sets at this weight, but I was really struggling even with just cardio. My toe was also killing me. I think it may have been the start of an ingrown toenail. Ugh. So I dug around on that for a bit after trying to squat. I know, gross, right? Then ran hot water over it for as long as I could, hydrogen peroxided it up, and put some triple antibiotic on it. My new running shoes fit more snugly than my old ones (which I hated becuse they felt like they slid around). So the lack of ample space is probably part of the issue. And I'm sure the awkward jumping I was doing only made it worse. I'm going to try to sneak my shoes off as much as I can at work today. Hermione Gainser
Hey, 6 DUs is nothing to sneeze at given it was your very first time trying it! They are not easy. Regarding your back: 1. boo! 2. Where on your back? Cervical, thoracic, or lumbar? My generic recommendation is get the blood flowing (jump rope, walking, whatever) then go at it with the ball. And possibly some heat or an epsom salt soak may help. In which position do you sleep? I haaaaaaaaaaaate trying not to sleep on my stomach but I've found that since I made the switch to my back (and sometimes side) my back is much happier. It's right near my bra line, right next to the spine, right side of my back. My right shoulder also hurts constantly - but I think the shoulder is a desk issue. Since both are on the right side, I know they could be related to one another. Or this could be an extended desk injury. I keep adjusting my desk (where my keyboard/monitor is, the height or my chair, I moved my mouse to the left, etc.), but can't find a way to sit that I'm comfortable. Anyway, since it's on the bra line, part of me wants to say it's related to the 15 pounds I've put on recently, probably partially in my chest. But it definitely pulls when I squat, so that's what worries me. Maybe I'll do intervals tonight (and get 2-3 more DUs ), and then go at it with the ball + heating pad. If I knew I wasn't going to make it worse, I'd just power through it. But man, back injuries terrify me. Hermione Gainser
Okay.. yeah, what I'd honestly suggest is trying to find a chiropractor that just does the adjustments (I mean, they'll probably do the electro thing or the traction table to get things warmed up and ready) and not the ART. I had the same thing going on in pretty much the same spot, though my back thing was more cervical, less thoracic when I ended up with that annoying pinched nerve. I can feel it happening again now, too since I haven't been in a while. It's definitely got a lot do with sitting at a desk. I don't know about you but my set up is so not ergonomically sound. So annoying. Anyhow, see if you can find one that's in your plan...it shouldn't take more than a visit or two (though, of course, they'll want you to do more). In the mean time, foam roll, and pain ball it out. Do the heat thing and/or epsom soak. I'm sure you've seen these and/or do these but on the off chance you don't here are my favorite (read: I do them daily) mwods for this stuff. Pain ball! I don't yet use the weight on the ball but I do on the foam roller. And this. I pay special attention to "getting the ribs" as he mentions and then do that stretch. Specifically, pre squat. It helps. But I do it pretty much daily now when I got off work. But I do it pretty much daily now when I got off work.I already do that first MWOD regularly (I did it last night). It's one of the take-aways I, ahem, took away from the mobility mini-challenge we had a few challenges ago. And strngely, when I was doing more mobility work is when I was PRing more often. Sigh. Must mobilize my efforts to mobilize. I do have a chiro, but he's never seemed to help with much of anything. Occasionally I'll get tension headaches from my neck and he fixes that, but haven't had much help with anything else. But maybe I'll go back specifically for this. He's never hooked me up to anything (that's not really something I think I'm comfortable with, but maybe I should get comfortable with it?). But he also doesn't really encourage repeat visits. So I like that. Maybe I can be all, "Look, I'm worried about a pinched nerve. What are the chances you can make sure it doesn't get all pinchy up in there?" I really like the guy, just havne't seen much from the visits. Oh, and I also do epsom soaks about 1-2X a week, depending on how much I've lifted. I'm also not sure I feel much effect from that, but maybe I don't realize it. Relaxing in a bath is nice regardless, so you don't have to tell me to do it more! And I'm going to watch/add that second MWOD. Shape-Shifting Ginger Current Battle Log 2" washers for smaller weight increases Link to comment

weirdquark
Thanks. The numbers suck, but I've always though, "Someday, I'll do double unders." I guess this week's as good a time as any. Assuming some other Warriors can make up for my craptastic numbers. I think it's more likely that you'll inspire more people to try level three, so we'll get our asses handed to us number-wise, but we'll do it while trying something really hard, so it's all good. I can almost get my slow, slow rope fast enough to go under me twice. Almost. I lift heavy things. Titanium Bulwark
How did I miss buffalo chicken meatloaf!?! How awesome. I have the same problem with spicy, until I spent some time in Asia. There is a difference between "hot" and "Thai hot" (burned the skin around my mouth, no joke).I feel your double under pain. I couldn't get any rhythm and I was having trouble getting started. I'd either jump one single under and then go OR start jumping normally and then just do 1 DU and go back to normal jumping. Method 2 was definitely more consistent, but much slower to count up.My back did the same thing, just too much pounding up and down. My plan is to stretch it as best as I can, squat my 5x5 (compress it) then do pull ups or hang (stretch it back out). Hopefully that'll help.Great job in going with the DUs! Strawberry Squatcake
Alright, goal is to triple my number before I leave work. Update: 14. Four more to tripled. Then new goal is 25. 2 hours of work left to get 11 more. It sounds pathetic. But seriously, I miss about 3/4 of them, and I jump about 8 times around each attempt. So I get 8, and that's well over 100 jumps (and three trips to the workout room). So it's definitely workin' hard for mah money. I can almost get my slow, slow rope fast enough to go under me twice. Almost.I felt like I wasn't turning my rope fast enough. Did you look at the video I posted? I think it's because I was so used to my SU pace. I know you have a thick rope, but I'm jumping with one of those beaded ropes. Try jumping slower/higher, and work on that a bit before trying ot make your hands go faster. My brain can't seem to computer jumping slower. After each DU, my pace automatically picks back up and I have to have a convo with myself to slow down. How did I miss buffalo chicken meatloaf!?! How awesome. I didn't used to be that way. I assume this is what old people (you know when I'm 16 and they're 30, sigh) meant when they'd say, "I used to be able to eat like that..." Don't take my spicy away!I'm definitely employing method two right now. I do at about 4-8 jumps between each DU. And that's if I don't fail on the DU. Failing sucks b/c it's already slow, so starting over is WAAAAY slower. The efficient person in me wants to get better just to stop wasting time. And I like the idea of stretching on the pullup bar. I'm going to do that! Shape-Shifting Ginger Current Battle Log 2" washers for smaller weight increases Link to comment
