Wandern
You are very welcome! Regarding eating breakfast: It's okay to wait.Eating first thing is super helpful for a lot of people but it turns out, not necessary or detrimental like originally thought. That was very interesting. I usually do wait before breakfast - last meal is usually around 6:30 pm, and I try to hold off till 9 or so before breakfast. I exercise first thing, and trying to eat breakfast before work makes the timing really tight! Wandern
Do you have a particular regime you follow to help settle the inner voice and gain a sense of balance and inner peace? I suspect so, since I imagine that's really what the druids are all about, so I guess it's more a question of what you include in that particular regime.I have some training in massage, and one of the loveliest forms of bodywork I've come across is Breema. Like yoga, Breema isn't just about manipulating the body, you try to bring 9 specific principles - attitudes - to the practice. Some of these principles make more sense to me applied to massage, but many I find helpful in life (from the Breema website):Body ComfortableWhen we look at the body, not as something separate, but as an aspect of a unified whole, there is no place for discomfort. No ExtraTo express our true nature, nothing extra is needed. Firmness and GentlenessReal firmness is always gentle. Real gentleness is always firm. When we are present, we naturally manifest firmness and gentleness simultaneously. Full ParticipationThe most natural way of moving and living is with full participation. Full participation is possible when body, mind, and feelings are united in a common aim. Mutual SupportThe more our Being participates, the more we are able to support life and recognize that Existence supports us. Giving and receiving support take place simultaneously. No JudgmentThe atmosphere of nonjudgment gives us a taste of acceptance of ourselves as we are in the moment. When we come to the present, we are free from judgment. Single Moment/Single ActivityEach moment is new, fresh, totally alive. Each moment is an expression of our true nature, complete by itself. No Hurry/No PauseIn the natural rhythm of life energy, there is no hurry and no pause. No ForceWhen we let go of assumptions of separation, we let go of force. ScurvySpider
Thanks for the link, LuckyMe. I'm anxious about not flubbing up the challenge for my entire guild's sake (during the next real challenge) -- can one challenge goal be "log on to nerdfitness every single day of the week"? Stareyedgirl
Focusing on breath/breathing has been the biggest one for me. I find that just trying to clear my mind is a fool's errand, but giving it one simple thing to focus on is more successful for me. I don't focus heavily on my breath and after a short time, I find that my mind is clear and that I have been focusing on nothing at all rather than my breathing. If other thoughts invade, I just refocus back to my breath. I don't try to change my patterns. My favorite moments in these meditations is finding the stillness at the top and the bottom of each breath. Where your entire body is in equilibrium with the outside world, literally. We don't realize it, but when we're breathing in and out the entire process is driven by a pressure differential between the atmosphere around us and higher or lower pressure in our lungs depending on whether the breathing is in or out. (Human anatomy is fascinating.) If we are able to relax to the point where we keep everything open between breaths rather than "holding" our breath, we reach the point where the pressure in our body equalizes with the pressure in the atmosphere - nothing goes in, nothing goes out, just stillness. If you are ever looking for true stillness, that is what I recommend. Chanda
I decided that since its almost the end of this Battle, I would help people who want to be helpful! I am offering up 1 "Who helped you out?" entry in the Battle 3 entry form for the person that helps convince me of 2 things (all Guilds are welcome to try):1. Which workout should I do tonight? And why? a. Yoga (a nice 40min session) b. Beginner Body Weight Workout (this would be the first time I would be doing it!)2. Why should I go to work tomorrow and complete the tasks I have been procrastinating about for the past 4 weeks? Come over to my challenge thread and leave your helpful answer... members of all Guilds are welcome to try out.Go on I dare you... see if you can move me into action!
